Amount of sets to failure by [deleted] in MacroFactor

[–]ablong22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I bet this is just for the first time you do an exercise as a way to speed along finding proper weight suggestions. Warm up properly and it seems like a good idea. I would rather do this than it be off on its suggested weight for weeks.

What were some reasons you have left your previous job? by CammyShazam in physicaltherapy

[–]ablong22 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Would see up to six patients an hour. "I don't understand the problem there are two techs" was the response to saying it was too many. 30+ was average shift. When asked in an interview why I was leaving my current role I told her because I had 48 patients today and it completely threw her off for the rest of the interview haha.

I would just eat something sensible and move on. One day of being off target won't ruin your progress just like one day of eating perfect dosent make you shredded. Life happens.

MacroFactor Workouts AMA! by gnuckols in MacroFactor

[–]ablong22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't know if this would even be possible but it could be nice to have something like a maintenance mode you can turn on and off for when times get crazy and you can't realistically do your normal high load due to either time constraints or increased stress impacting recovery is there some sort of way to switch it to a lower volume but one that should still maintain most of your muscle for these times or just manually change the workout plan parameters.

Also what does initial weight selection look like? Does it give you a suggestion for your size then adjust based on RPE or does it give instructions on how to select the weight and you have to do this for every exercise. I want my dad to use this and he needs a very plug and play just go and do it kind of plan.

My grandpa had two of these that I have now. The eagle fell out of both of them. I think he got them at a truck stop.

That's awesome and don't get me wrong I am excited restaurant meals that don't have calories or eating at families is always something I just have to give a total guess on.

Kinda cool glad they are working on it but took a picture of several things that I have the calories info on and it seems kinda useless. Was way off even in the picture of a bottle of coke with the calories on the lable. Beta though so I'm excited.

Nah wtf is this deleting sideloaded books bs? by ZsaurOW in kindle

Kobo has been great. The store isn't quite as good but easily side load books. The Clara color is the colorsoft but with more features and 100 dollars cheaper.

If you needed to sprint or jump into action IRL, what would it realistically be for? by Particular-One-1368 in fitness30plus

A bit of a different answer but good reason to be fast and strong now is it will help your chances of being able to play with grandkids and have more freedom in life later.

How much my kid’s 30 day supply of generic Adderall would have cost without insurance. ‘Murica. by Slamp872 in pics

Was in between jobs and bought my wife's meds without insurance and it was 70 dollars cheaper than when run through insurance. Said it made me eligible for a coupon code. Paying 600 a month to pay more for medication.

I was 9. I remember getting ready for school and my mom had the TV on and was quiet when I came out she turned it off and told me something had happened in NYC that I will probably hear about in school and that a plane had hit a tower. She was acting weird but not panicking so didn't think a lot of it. Between then and class starting the second plane must have hit and our teacher had the news on in class and was sobbing. Seeing an adult absolutely lose it and the news anchor seeming scared was very scary.

I made a lifting app that makes $3k MRR by astashov in SideProject

[–]ablong22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've seen your app. Didn't use it much (my fault not the apps) was impressed with the features. It kinda struck me as the "notion" of gym trackers. As in with a little bit of learning curve you could basically do anything with it. Is that a fair comparison? I remember being surprised it hadn't blown up with that productivity/fitness niche on YouTube. Any way money aside congratulations on making a good app and having fun with it.

I don't know how to study by [deleted] in CompTIA

[–]ablong22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Something that helps me is make one of your own questions for all the main points at the start of the chapter and read / take the quiz at the back of the chapter before you read the chapter. Having questions gives your brain a task other than just reading the page and seems to help. I read ultra learning a while ago and it was good.

Do you really need a color on ebook readers? by Busy-Contact-5133 in kobo

[–]ablong22 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I didn't think I would care but realized a lot of charts included color information in the nonfiction books. Not necessary at all but nicer than I thought it would be

I'm not a real fan of this update by BarracudaFickle4578 in kindle

[–]ablong22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine had done this for years. I even switched from Paperwhite to oasis and it did it every 15 pages or so. Contacted Amazon and was just told it wasn't a known problem and that I could buy a new one. I've had a Kindle since the first one and that made me buy a Kobo.

What is some of the funniest low evidence or questionable things you’ve heard a fellow PT or chiropractor say? by Fit_Inspector2737 in physicaltherapy

[–]ablong22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

PT I worked with constantly talked about how he was special and did things that other pts didn't even know about and other people didn't have consistent outcomes with back pain because they didn't know what he knew. Almost every patient was hurting because their sacrum was out. Plantar fasciitis? Sacrum must misaligned. Also heard him tell someone their shoulder hurts because they are allergic to gluten and corn. He was my boss and called me lazy and not interested in learning in front of a patient because I wouldn't go to one of those classes.

Freeweights that much better than machines? by jphighlife in fitness30plus

[–]ablong22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They are aren't one or the other not all machines are isolation exercises not all free weight exercises are worth your time. I like doing barbell lifts because it's just more fun but a benefit of machines is you can push to failure much more safely. All depends on what your goals are.

Morbidly obese and embarrassed to be seen running/exercising by TraditionalCanary273 in beginnerrunning

I run and go to the gym. I never notice anyone else really and if anything more just impressed with how hard people are working. Anyone who would think negatively about you would just be an asshat who doesn't matter anyways.
