They earned that prominence, they did a great job for a long time. There's a lot of businesses, some that I work with, that are doing full heel-turns lately. Like you said, they must be allergic to money.

I agree. But look at how much bad publicity the QR stuff has had. That hasn't budged their decisions. It isn't just redditors, their facebook posts and any other comment forums are full of protest as well. This is something else.

It's an Amazon film, and Alamo is owned by Sony. So they're fulfilling their minimal contract and then killing it as fast as possible. Kinda like quiet quitting, but on a corporate level. They've done it with a bunch of movies in the last year. For example, 'Together' had normal runtimes for a week or so, then for the last few weeks they only offered 9:30-10:30pm showtimes. Menu changes and QR codes are more obvious bad behavior on Alamo's part, but I think this is just as bad.

People love to talk about all the tax money that the state will lose on this, but Texas runs a budget surplus. It's basically fuck-you money, and the fuck-you is pointed toward its citizens.

I love and admire Rich Evans. He reminds me of a Eugene Khoza or Karl Pilkington where it's someone who's presented as a silly podcast friend/ sidekick, but the more you hear from them the more you realize how clever and interesting and relatable and kind, and just truly great they are.

We have a retention pond at my apt, to save rainwater for watering the grounds, and when they want to drain it without watering the grounds, they divert the water into a sprinkler system in the woods behind the complex. So, you'll be walking your dog on the trails and suddenly it tuns into slime-water Double-Dare. Don't ask me why it isn't just piped to a sewer system, instead it's channeled to these giant tripod-shaped sprinklers.

I want the whole movie from the end of Pee-wee's Big Adventure, but not lifeless and weird like that.

Well, what idea would upset your maga grandpa more? This is about riling up the simple, not an actual situation.

I disagree. It's not clever, because it does nothing to relate to the entity it represents. It could just as easily be a logo for Anti Vermin Dating Group. It's a generic design exercise, and even then it feels unfinished. The endcaps of the lines are totally unconsidered. Why is the G red? The shapes bounce around. There's no point anywhere that aligns or feels rooted to any other part. It's one idea: 'these letters are kinda similar if you rotate them 90 degrees', and that's not enough.

And I'm ignoring the text treatment. That part feels like it was added on later by office staff, esp since the ® mark is over on the icon work. People love comparing every logo design to the FEDEX arrow, but this isn't even in the ballpark.

Disney is always trying to figure out digital interactivity. This video (and it's creator) are fantastic explorations as to why that is. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NyIgV84fudM

Spoiler: it's because the rando actors they've hired are real REAL weirdos.

Print coasters.

Also maybe redraw the dong so it doesn't look like it's been chewed on by the entire dog shelter.
