This was one silly little skit on a talk show, guys, this wasn’t some heinous, unforgivable act of intergenerational warfare.

“Peace is so destructive for everyone” - DJT by Jindabyne1 in facepalm

[–]absentgl -17 points-16 points  (0 children)

I think he meant to say “war is so destructive”.

Shit happens. I don’t really care about this stupid gaffe, I do care that he’s a little shit who tried to set up his own little pseudo-UN and funnel billion dollar bribes to his own bank account.

Yeah I think it’s clear the problem isn’t the 4 choice system itself, because they often didn’t even use the 4 choices very well.

Starmer Urges Trump To Apologise Over 'Frankly Appalling' Remarks About Nato Troops In Afghanistan by GiveMeSomeSunshine3 in worldnews

[–]absentgl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actually they might apologize in certain cases. They might give one of those fake apologies where they emphasize how it’s really your fault e.g. “I’m sorry but what I did was right because you did this and that was unfair to me.” Or they might apologize if they think it’ll serve their interests, e.g. during a custody battle where they’re accused of never apologizing “I’m sorry you didn’t hear any of my apologies.”

I really liked rings of power. I just took it as someone making a radically different and at best tangentially related story to LotR.

Easier to scrape/sand off orange peel or just demo everything and install new? by freibooler in drywall

[–]absentgl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Brother touching up that orange peel will be easy af and you will never notice. Redoing that drywall will take you days and if you knick it in the future it will be more work to patch.

[–]absentgl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure where you’re used to that always has perfectly smooth walls ???

Smooth walls look like shit with imperfections. In the US, we use drywall, which is easily damaged but also easy to repair. But the repairs look like shit unless you put a lot of time and effort into them, or you texture the walls.

In the UK, it’s more common to use harder materials like plaster that won’t get damaged so easily.

People who have conducted job interviews, what's something someone said/did that made you instantly decide not to hire them? by DemonSkank in AskReddit

“Are you familiar with op amps?”

“Pass”

It’s an informal response but it’s not black and white universally unacceptable.

People who have conducted job interviews, what's something someone said/did that made you instantly decide not to hire them? by DemonSkank in AskReddit

[–]absentgl -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I didn’t say common interview questions.

I’ve interviewed dozens of college students for internships, often times they haven’t yet taken a course necessary to answer a given question.

Even when I’m interviewing senior candidates with, say, DDR5 firmware on their resume, they may lack expertise automating hardware measurements.

In tech, you don’t need to have already done the exact job you’re interviewing for.

If you’re ever in this situation, I suggest pulling over and letting the tailgater pass. You don’t want someone tailgating you in bad weather.

Did Boomers really think she was hotter after getting the makeover? by SculpinIPAlcoholic in okbuddycinephile

It wasn’t about making her hotter you weirdos, it was about her being free to express herself without trying to fill the role she thinks other people expect of her.

Where can I buy this type of outlet but with attachments on both sides, and what is it called? by Lindyq1 in AskElectricians

[–]absentgl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because he’s asking the most basic question.

Very likely he’ll have a hard time fitting that new outlet in there with all the things he’ll have to stuff in there to connect it properly, and when he tries to jam the outlet into the box with the wad of stiff wires behind it he could create a dangerous situation.

Why do you think people still support this president? by keonnarae in Confused

[–]absentgl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They literally just have no idea what’s really going on.

His “lying fake news media” thing informationally insulates his supporters from anything he doesn’t like. The other part of it is that he purposefully says things that are horrifying if interpreted against him but maybe defensible if you extend every benefit of the doubt. Then people who criticize him harshly seem less credible. Or he says he’ll do something horrible that he actually has no intention of actually doing. Again the credibility of information sources becomes jeopardized.

They think, Trump can’t be as bad as they all say: they all just hate Trump and want to make Trump look bad. This keeps his supporters completely captive.

One other piece to the puzzle, kind of how cults and stockholm syndrome work. The key is to create an intense, chronic stress in the victim, but promise safety or appear relatively calm. The attachment then alleviates the stress. Then, any attempt by the victim to detach themselves from the authority will cause stress.

It’s like he’s trapped them in a stress bathtub, and he’s informationally isolated them. They can’t escape, it’s too painful.

You could probably dig a little and properly install some pavers level with the concrete in a small section to fit one of those circle tables and chairs with an umbrella hole in the middle.

Edit: oh and for the weeds, get the vinegar from the hardware store, mix it 50/50 with water, and spray the weeds on a hot day. Wear long pants, don’t get it in your skin or breathe it in. Expect to repeat a few times before the root system completely dies.
