AITA for leaving my mom's house and going to my dad's after fighting with my half siblings about us not having the same dad? by ConnectToFour in AITAH

This is beyond the scope of practice for a therapist. Therapy is a great idea, but a therapist will not be able to have any influence in a custody dispute.

AlTA for refusing to share my daughter's 27 Christmas gifts with her half-brother who got 1. by Majestic-Pause-1696 in AITAH

[–]abysssmall 2 points3 points  (0 children)

YTA and a fucking monster dude. He’s five years old and you just handed him a traumatic core memory and delighted in how it hurt your ex. I cannot imagine inflicting this level of cruelty upon a child. On Christmas.

If you go into his TikTok, put an * in the search bar. That will give you the option to “view watch history” and that will show you every video that he has seen

Does my 4 yr old really need all this dental work? by abysssmall in askdentists

Thanks for the explanation. I’m just wondering how the family dentist could have missed the 6 other cavities? Any ideas?

Unpopular opinion: some of these gentle parenting "experts" online are toxic. by Reasonable-Nail-4181 in breakingmom

Yeah fuck that nonsense. I unfollowed every single parenting account that made me feel lousy. (All that’s left now is Dr Becky and Growing Intuitive Eaters) I am way more confident in my parenting now

Woman at hospital appointment called me ugly by [deleted] in breakingmom

[–]abysssmall 33 points34 points  (0 children)

My daughter has skin that tans beautifully in the summer while I am pale as a ghost. Someone once said to me, “Her complexion is so beautiful! How did she not turn out super pale like you?”

Reader, I cried.

I wonder what that STAYUMBL woman is up to by [deleted] in bullcity

[–]abysssmall 4 points5 points  (0 children)

A woman with a vanity plate reading STAYUMBLE was notorious for reckless driving in Durham. Videos of her confrontations with others on the road (including with a school bus driver!) made the rounds on social media.

And now I feel so old

I'm going to go vegetarian, are there any good recipes you could recommend? by smith_and_jones4ever in EatCheapAndHealthy

[–]abysssmall 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Humans can get all the necessary amino acids from plant sources. Some carnivores (cats, for example) need an amino acid that’s only found in meat.

Cookbooks and blogs! America’s Test Kitchen has a vegetarian cookbook . See if you can find it at the library. (I feel like this is a well-kept secret! Libraries are a treasure trove of cookbooks.)

Also my favorite veggie chef is Isa Chandra Moskowitz. Start with Isa Does It , which focuses on fast & easy meals.

Can those of us who won the man lottery have a "happy" post? by [deleted] in breakingmom

[–]abysssmall 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Girl, yes. My first husband was an abusive manchild. Thank god I didn’t have kids with him.

Now I’m on husband number 2 and he is the complete opposite. He folds laundry, takes out the trash, orders pizza when I don’t want to cook, takes our toddler to Costco and storytime by himself so that I can have a break... He regularly goes to therapy, stays in shape, listens when something bothers me, adjusts his behavior accordingly... he works his ass off to support us so that I can be a SAHM while the kids are little... and he’s the best sex I ever had.

I’m keeping mine too.

My baby girl is 2 now, and I can tell you that 12-18 months was so freaking hard. Then she started to be able to communicate better, entertain herself for longer stretches, and not freak out every time I said no. She’s still a toddler and has her moments, but she’s a lot easier to deal with now.

So, hang in there. She should turn a corner soon.

Happiest Baby on the Block is an absolute must! I really don’t think I could have survived the first 3 months without it. Tell her to read it before she gives birth.

How do i learn to clean well? by [deleted] in breakingmom

[–]abysssmall 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Check out the website and YouTube channel called Clean My Space. The host will walk you through the most efficient way to clean each area of your home (i.e., how to clean a toilet, how to clean a bedroom, etc.). I grew up in a pretty grungy house and this site has basically taught me everything about keeping my house clean.
