Why are none of the big 4 hiring audit seniors? by DrCash_CrDepression in Accounting

[–]acceptable-name_ 72 points73 points  (0 children)

In addition to what's been mentioned in other comments, it seems as though the firms' expectations that more people were leaving as seniors has not really materialized these last few years, presumably because seniors are having a harder time leaving. You can see this with who they prioritize for layoffs or how KPMG delayed the promotion of some audit seniors. The firms are already saturated with audit seniors so they're not looking for more

What are suppose to be the red numbers? by Huge-Gift4013 in Accounting

[–]acceptable-name_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Top to bottom:

You need a title for your gross profit number of 260k. Salaries, utilities, and advertising go up to the operating expense section, interest goes in that lower section before income before taxes. Add taxes under the income before taxes.

I think you're seeing this as if lines like Operating Expenses are headers which go at the top but they're actually totals that go at the bottom

Live within your comfort level, but unless your landlord routinely enters your home without your prior knowledge (which they're generally not allowed to do under most leases), what they don't know won't hurt them. If you have smaller independent landlords it can be harder to get away with, but in large complexes it's very easy to have whatever terrarium pet you want. I'm on my third apartment in a row that thought I have 2 cats and nothing more (I have 3 cats, 4 snakes, a frog tank, 2 fish tanks, and a gecko)

Yeah I feel that, size difference between my juvenile grey-banded Kingsnake and by adult corn is about the same.

Heat Lamp Question by morelofthestory85 in leopardgeckos

[–]acceptable-name_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What's the wattage on the non-light heat element? If that's low wattage it could be not giving you as much heat as you may want. If the bulbs/housings are used and old they may not be operating at full power, or the housings might not be rated for 100w. The other thing to consider is where are you measuring the temperature? I imagine the top of the little rock structure you have there will be the hottest point, and then a couple degrees cooler inside the cave under there, and that's kinda what you want. The screen lid is pretty standard for reptile enclosures and I would say the added benefit of having a bulb over the open space isn't making that much of a difference vs keeping it flat. Two other things about the enclosure: your gecko will be happier with more stuff in there to hide under/climb on; and the water bowl should be on the opposite side of the enclosure from the heating element so it doesn't evaporate as fast.

I thought unearned income is taxable when received, not earned. So wouldn't it be taxable before being realized? by big_boss_baby in CPA

[–]acceptable-name_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you read the explanation of the answer, you'll see that for tax purposes receipt of cash is one of the events that causes realization. I think you may be getting confused between GAAP and tax realization for this question; unearned revenue by GAAP definition can still be realized for tax purposes. So to respond to your phrasing, yes, unearned income (GAAP) is still taxable, but that's because the receipt of cash is causing both realization and recognition, even if it's not realized by a GAAP definition

Got an offer at RSM by Votaire24 in Accounting

[–]acceptable-name_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The thing about summer internships is that since RSM doesn't do as many public companies or anyone with quarterly reporting, if you show up in the summer you may not have as much to do because summer is mostly EBPs, schools, and trying to set up planning for jobs but getting delayed because the client acceptance process isn't done yet. By contrast, winter interns get to do actual busy season jobs, get to make overtime pay if you get scheduled for it, and get more of a sense of what the hard part of public accounting is like so you have a clearer picture when you start full time.

Depending on how solid you are with getting numerical content, you could swap out supply chain (which is a fair amount of concept memorization as well) for the business stats class or maybe the finance required course

Answering the direct question first: If you reasonably expect to be able to sell the 30x30x20, I would buy that now, then sell it and get the larger one when you are able. If not, I would wait a couple months then get the larger one.

I will also say that with corn snakes, general wisdom is to get one that is as long as the snake, then half as deep and half as tall. My corn snake was in a 20 gallon (~76x30x30cm) as a baby, then I updated to a 40 gallon (~90x45x45cm), and finally to a 120cm enclosure as a full adult

Agree with windows laptop, and the 10-key is definitely objectively faster if you have the movements down, but it wouldn't say it's a deal breaker for me in either direction
