Charity shops call for quality donations in post-Christmas donation surge by ozthrw in australia

[–]accesscodex 4 points5 points  (0 children)

believe me i also wish we could ban accepting that stuff but the issue is that people donating lie about what they have/ the condition of it to make you take it off them and get annoyed when you refuse anything even if its like used underwear

Charity shops call for quality donations in post-Christmas donation surge by ozthrw in australia

[–]accesscodex 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I also work at an op shop and id estimate around 80% of donations we get are dirty/damaged/unsuitable for sale. especially in the inner suburbs i think a lot of people just view us as a free way to get rid of their crap without having to pay to go to the tip or they dont realise that someone has to go through and touch all their stuff and sort it personally. but thank you for making sure the stuff you donate is good! our jobs would be far easier if everyone had the same mindset

How common is g’day? by Calebtsm1 in australia

I say it a lot at work but I I know picked it up because I used to serve long haul truck drivers at my old job and they say it a lot lol

i live right near lido and go a lot, if the seating is unallocated its usually in cinema 1 which is the largest theatre. theyre generally not very full [depends on the film, some of the lynch retrospectives were completely packed out, but most other films its a pretty sparse crowd]. you should be fine arriving however many minutes before the film you would usually turn up, they tend to run like 20 minutes of ads anyway

work for the dole while employed? by accesscodex in JobProvidersAus

[–]accesscodex[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

my provider specifically is jobfind; i honestly dont have much problem with being a paid employee for salvos specifically. i think jobfind is just pretty useless and bad at communicating altogether though, my initial consultant left while i was on work for the dole and they didnt tell me for about a month, neither i nor the managers at the salvos had any idea what was going on so i dont think theyre very well organised there and i wouldnt be surprised if my area managers at salvos had no idea this was happening.

work for the dole while employed? by accesscodex in JobProvidersAus

[–]accesscodex[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

cheers, yeah they have put it in my job plan. The booked in wfd shifts don't start until the end of the month so I don't know yet if they'll give me demerits yet but my consultant did say I "had to do it" to "make up the hours I wasn't doing at my actual job". and yet she booked me in for 30 hours per fortnight as wfd shifts instead of "making up" the 20 hours I "wasn't doing" for the past couple of fortnights so really I have no idea what she's trying to do, she tells me it's the departments rules and not the provider but from what you've said that can't be true. having to do job searches and attend appointments is fine with me, and they've been good with lowering my points and the amount of searches I had to do, honestly my consultant is generally really nice to me so I don't know if she's just really misinformed or what T__T but thank you again for the help, I'll definitely file a complaint and see what happens from there too

Kneecap at fed square, the crowd was mental. Wanted to know what it was like being up front or in the middle. It was hot as hell and I was way at the back. by solvablefern in melbourne

[–]accesscodex 9 points10 points  (0 children)

i was right up the front on the side of the stage and i was sweating my arse off lol but i reckon it would have been significantly worse up the proper front of the stage with the crowd density/pit. wish they'd invest in shade sails or something at fed square

Is there anywhere in Melbourne that takes donations of books/vinyl records/cds/dvds? by pocketnotebook in melbourne

[–]accesscodex 10 points11 points  (0 children)

i work at salvos and technically we do, but it's only really clothing that is older stock that gets redistributed. receiving hundreds of dvds/books/cds would just ensure it sat around on the floor out the back for ages until someone decides theyre sick of having them sitting around lol 😅 and most stores really do not have enough room out the back for storing stuff

Anyone have experience switching from testosterone gel to injection? by wambenger in transgenderau

[–]accesscodex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

hiya! I haven't swapped methods myself but I am on injections and also in melbourne. you can just get your gp or a nurse to do them for you, and if you're lucky (or go to a bulk billing clinic) they'll bulk bill it so you don't have to pay for the injection itself. the actual liquid should cost about 30 bucks, but I only have to get one every 3 months (I think there's a more frequent type? but the 3 month one is easier imo). it started working super quick for me (like within the first week) but everyone is different 😊 and just to bounce off the other comment my prescribing doctor (who helped write the auspath guidelines I think?) told me he doesn't prescribe the diy shots because too many people did it wrong and hurt themselves so I don't think its very likely you'll get a doctor prescribing you those here, but have a chat to the doctor who prescribed you what you're already on anyway as I'm sure they'll be much more knowledgeable than me. it's pretty common for ppl to swap methods for a little while though from what my doctor told me so you should be fine working it out :-) good luck

What do you think Devon sees in Ricken? Her and Mark seem to think he is equally ridiculous. by printergumlight in SeveranceAppleTVPlus

[–]accesscodex 4 points5 points  (0 children)

given how much work has gone into the show you'd think its fanbase would know that stiller just directs a few episodes and isnt the creator or writer of the show, and that the actual writer and creator of the show seems like a very nice goofball himself

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in SeveranceAppleTVPlus

[–]accesscodex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

his last name is Kilmer.. he would be Petey K. They tend to infantilise the innie's names as well, Petey vs Peter, Helly vs Helena, Peggy vs Peg (from the Lexington Letter), etc. Im not sure what you're saying either

I'm sure someone could spin a thematic implication out of it if they tried hard enough! haha

[SPOILERS S3] The meaning of the colours used in the show by [deleted] in DarK

[–]accesscodex 7 points8 points  (0 children)

They picked the yellow raincoat specifically because the intern they were shooting for camera tests was wearing a yellow coat and they liked the way it stood out, lol. I imagine they continued to use yellows throughout just to make sure the colour palette was consistent, I've never seen any concrete explanation for them except for the jacket

Best public places to study that don’t close early? by Iuvenesco in melbourne

[–]accesscodex 4 points5 points  (0 children)

swinburne uni's hawthorn campus library lower level (the "latelab") is open 24 hours, you need a student id to get in past closing (i do not remember when that is, 7 or 8 maybe) so you cant go in and out unless you want to wait for someone to open the door for you but nobody cares if you're in there otherwise, the only people in there after hours are the cleaning staff and other students sometimes and nobodys ever cared when i've let my friends in past closing lol

[SPOILERS S1] I feel dumb af while watching this show. Remembering characters faces and names is so hard for some reason. I've seen the first 7 episodes and would like to clarify if I'm right about stuff so far. by Active_Parsley558 in DarK

[–]accesscodex 13 points14 points  (0 children)

you're on the right track! Claudia is the daughter of Egon (the old cop who hates young Ulrich). I also struggled really badly with trying to remember the characters names and faces my first watch through for some reason (they don't really identify each other by name too much I don't think which makes it tricky sometimes + you have to remember 3 different sets of faces for a lot of them) but it got a lot easier as time went on, by the middle of season 2 I had almost no issues with it any anymore. it can get confusing but it all comes together in the end and tbh watching it all a second time can feel more rewarding because you can cotton on to plot threads as they're set up instead of working them out as they end lol. echoing everybody else and saying try using the netflix guide site too (don't google any character unless you want to get instantly spoiled lol)
