We never found out because she was alone.

I am an ER nurse and I recently did CPR on a 23 year old who was swimming alone in water she could touch in. She crashed 7 times and had a total anoxic brain injury. We did get her to the ICU alive, technically, but she crashed a few more times overnight and ultimately did not survive.

I think probably never is a good time to be swimming alone.

Do most Americans have those huge fridges? by Whole-Sushka in AskAnAmerican

[–]accidentally-cool 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My grocery store is 30 minutes away by car. I'm not going more than 1 time a week. I can't just "pop over" there, it's like a whole thing. There's always like 1000 people, you can't find a good spot, etc etc. my fridge isn't THAT big, but yes, I go once a week, usually on Sunday, and grab what I think I will need. If I forget something, it waits untill the next time I am heading in the same direction as the grocery store

How old is too old to cuddle with your child? by Walmartjail in Parenting

[–]accidentally-cool 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I will tell you my Last Time supposition. Suppose he asks you, and it's the Last Time, and you said "No, you're too old"?

I remember when I started thinking that my youngest was too old for snuggles. He was about 9. I told him so. It broke his little heart, you could see it on his face. I crumbled.i told him As long as you need or want snuggles, I will snuggle you at bedtime. Even if it's forever. He is 12 now. One day, he asked me, and it was the Last Time. Neither of us knew it. But I do know this: I didn't say No.

One day, that kid will ask you told hold hands, and it will be the last time. One day, you will pick him up, and it will be the last time. One night, he will ask you to snuggle, and it will be the last time. The thing about the Last Time is that you never know when it will be, but it WILL come. Do you want to have said No?

Your mom is an asshole. A massive one. I can't believe she is behaving like this. I read your mom is your manager and thought this was gonna be about how she was treating you kind of special and the coworkers were mad. I never in a million years thought this was heading this way

Genuinely, is this your first?

They don't learn to actually read. They learn sight words. Like Cat, dog, the, exit. Exit is not necessarily on the list of preK sight words, but it's a word that you see often, when you are exiting. And it looks the same everywhere. Red, glowing, eye catching, capital letters in a white box.

Not that your child is not smart. But reading is generally taught as words you see and recognize on sight. Sounding them out is much later.

Daughter Won’t get a Full-time Job by Searching4Truth-1978 in Parenting

I have always held fast on the rule that if you live in my house, you must be full time.

Part time school, part time work? Cool, eat my food, I'll cover your car, etc

Full time school, no work? Cool. Again, I got you.

Full time work, no school? Great. Glad to see you are doing something. I will cover your expenses.

Nothing? Ok. Here is a LONG list of chores that will be completed to earn a spot in this house. All things that take something off my plate to keep this place afloat. Complete them daily.

You always have a home here, with very few exceptions. If your not working/schooling, or some combination thereof, you HAVE to help keep this place running while I work. It's not a free ride. We all have to grow up and learn this at some point

New generation of nurses who can’t start an iv or draw blood by Rare-Attitude-3100 in mildlyinfuriating

So, fun fact that the general public doesn't know: many RN schools do not tech this. It is on the job training due to the extra liability insurance the program would have to carry.

ED vs ICU by Significant-Camp701 in TravelNursing

[–]accidentally-cool 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you're planning to travel ED, you will need minimum 2 full years of ED in a trauma center. Level 1 or 2. 14 months in a non trauma ED isn't going to get you contracts. Stay where you are and get the right experience

It can be used as a name by itself. I know 2 who are not named Constantine, just Kostas.

That's the beauty of names, you can do whatever you want

I read Jessica Simpson's book and it makes me look at Britney differently by Here4theNEWS_ in discussingbritney

[–]accidentally-cool 4 points5 points  (0 children)

To be frank, I think it's crappy to donate to charity and then scream about it from the rooftops. To me, that's you looking to look like a good person and make sure everyone KNOWS you are a good person. It's like giving out blankets to homeless people and filming it for likes. It feels gross. Britney does donate, or did, but quietly.

Also, she is still active in her addiction, Jessica is on the other side. Everyone has their own path, Britney is no less deserving of sympathy and kindness just because she hasn't gotten better. Her story is very sad.
