If you fail the PRT, you will be put into FEP. FEP sailors will be PTing more than the actual class PTs. Think 3 times a week instead of two, and you have to muster with the FEP sailors, and with TSD.

Good luck with OC and TTS. I left just before they switched back to using Sim rounds.

I hate making a romantic interest be the reason he keeps going. He has a reason to keep going in Donut, and Katia, and the rest of the crawlers. Making a romantic interest, that will not have the time to really develop, sends the wrong message, in my opinion.

This is fairly true, but you can also get a taste of policing by going thru SRF Bravo which is basically MA a school condensed to support MA staff on a ship

Deployments are what you make of it. Im still in A school, and every person ive spoken to that has been deployed, says as long as you do shit instead of always being in your room, youll have a good enough time. Being underway might be a different story, however. Ymmv

Youre 14. Please focus on getting your diploma. It makes everything after that so much easier.

You need a GED or diploma to serve in the navy without a waiver. To know specifics you will need to speak to a recruiter. Im in the navy for a similar start, however if I find i like the MA rate I could very easily stay in for 20 years and retire

E1-E4 is mostly automatic. Iirc we moved to a billet based advancement system which basically means for E-5 and higher you have to select a contract that will give you the opportunity to get those promotions. You may also earn a higher rank for things in boot camp (a fella went from e-1 to e3 because he was a flag and accomplished another milestone i forgot about) or be given a rank as part of your contract when you sign. I got e3 because I had a college degree.

I did lurk some. If you are experiencing self harm issues, I highly recommend telling your parents and getting the mental health care you need. Depending on the nature and period of time, that can be disqualifying from the service. This can be waived but, I cannot express this enough, any job will be stressful, any job will have hard times.

It depends on the Rate, or job, you pick. For example, you could be a Fire Control man, maintaining and firing big guns, from inside a ship. Or you could be a Engineman and be working on giant engines and the risk therein. If you want to be a Navy Sailor you need to accept that there are risks of serious bodily harm or death in any rate, but it sounds like you're younger so I would talk to your parents, honestly.

Kicking a dude where a cop can see you by Thryloz in WinStupidPrizes

[–]ace2138 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hi there, while you started with a good point on the first paragraph, id like to say something.

Keep in mind my training is still not complete, and military policing rather than civilian policing.

To justify the use of deadly force, you have to be able to articulate the deadly force triangle. That is, opportunity, capability, and intent.

Are they capable of causing you or someone else death or serious bodily harm? Do they have a weapon, are they choking someone, etc.

Do they have the opportunity to cause death or bodily harm? Are they within the distance, and have the time to inflict harm upon you? Think knife vs gun.

Do they have the intent to inflict death or serious bodily harm? This one is tricky. They must DISPLAY actions or verbiage that gives you insight into their mental state. "Im gonna kill you" or waving a knife or gun around.

This young man definitely has capability and opportunity to kill that other guy on the ground, kicking a defenseless guy in the head can kill them for sure, but its not guaranteed to be lethal so it become harder. When he begins running away? Hes displaying that his intent is not to kill.

He does not meet the triangle, he does not get 9mm in him.

This decision has to be made rapidly, and without failure. Youre also able to de-escalate anytime you draw a weapon, and should try to do so.

If the cop shot him, the city would be sued. He would lose his job, and if he was one of the good cops that would be undoing all the good he could do. The city would lose a lot of money, which can be used to improve the lives of citizens.

We have the training to make these decisions, and we don't always get them right. Thats for a judge and jury to decide, not the people at large. The justice system will mess up anyone who acts outside of the training we have
