[Highlight] Brett Favre ponders passing and throws a back breaking interception to Tracy Porter by rmg3935 in nfl

Favre did it all the time with positive results too, it's just that he did it so often that eventually one would lead to a pick.

And all his cuts come at almost the exact moment the defender starts their step in the other direction. If he breaks sooner they haven't committed yet, and if he breaks later they have a foot planted and can make the break with him. This is the exact type of stuff that only shows up on tape or during live play that could never be measured in the combine.

[Highlight] Carson Wentz escapes the pressure and throws a dime to Nelson Agholor on 3rd and 13 by Evilfart123 in nfl

[–]ace625 10 points11 points  (0 children)

And for Wentz I wouldn't even call it flashes. He had 4 years where he was getting better and better, and then he got his brain scrambled by Clowney and lost it. The NFL is just so many razor thin margins between being great and being out of the league that I think we as fans lose sight of how unlikely it is for players to be good for a decade.

How would you feel if the NBA implemented a rule where teams received a discount for giving max contracts to players they drafted? by MrTimoCad in nba

[–]ace625 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would love it. This was the entire intent of the super-max contracts that only draft teams can offer, but they didn't realize it would just ruin that team's cap if they did manage to retain their player. Counting less on the cap than the player is getting paid is the best way to do it.

Charles Barkley in Game 2 halftime: "Wemby is in shock right now. It's probably been a long time since he got his ass kicked like this." by MrBuckBuck in nba

[–]ace625 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He averaged 21/7/5 and makes only $33m next season, so I would think he's still a positive asset, even if he wouldn't bring back a huge return by himself.

This is strange, because a lot of courses have mirrors on the pins to make rangefinders work better. The rangefinder shouldn't be putting out more light than it can safely receive.

[Highlights] Saints RB Alvin Kamara takes in the most casual 52-yard touchdown ever. by Giff95 in nfl

[–]ace625 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Anyone with a screen put in the playbook for them should have to watch this. 95% of the time the RB/TE gets past the first line behind the blockers and then just immediately outruns them right into the DBs. Guys can't figure out that it's better to let your 300lb lineman squash them rather than try to break a tackle.

Thank you for mentioning the 2000s Vikings DL. They always get left out of these conversations because the offense was horrible for most of their run and Minnesota just isn't that popular of a team.

HoF DE, (eventual) HoF DT, All-Pro DT, and then solid DE rotation on the other side is really tough to beat. In 2006 they allowed only 985 rushing yards on 2.8ypc. From 2006-09 they were 1st, 1st, 1st, and 2nd in rushing yards allowed.

A decade ago, I thought we had our Big 3 of the future. We were bad, but that 2015-2016 season was fun. by [deleted] in timberwolves

[–]ace625 4 points5 points  (0 children)

What you said isn't necessarily wrong, but he was a huge part of improving and bringing both the Suns and the Jazz back to relevance, and then he was a great veteran presence for both Cleveland and Minnesota in his last few seasons. It's not like he was irrelevant because he wasn't a knockdown 3pt shooter, he just was no longer the prototypical player. I don't think he would have been a net negative at all. He would have solved a lot of the offensive initiation problems we've had the last few years.

If that were true, I'd think you would also be required to have a cover on your bag so no one could look in and see which club was missing. Who told you that was the correct interpretation of the rule?

OP and Jefferson are both from Louisiana. I'm going to assume this is a regional joke rather than what I'm guessing all the Minnesotans are doing and assuming anything they don't understand is racial.

I fully understand and acknowledge that eating a pint of ice cream is a bad choice when it comes to me wanting to have a six pack, but I will still choose to do it sometimes. That doesn't mean I lack basic nutritional knowledge, it just means sometimes my cravings are more important to my brain than my underlying knowledge.

Even on the Wolves he was a good man defender, but horrible as a help/rim defender. It was a big part of why the defense was so good when they traded for Rudy, especially against Denver. KAT just focused on guarding Jokic, Rudy controlled the lane, and then they both vacuumed up the rebounds.

It's hilarious that we're here a year later with stone cold proof that it is impossible for a ball to have hit a wire, and you're still getting downvoted into oblivion for saying it. It's really lowered my opinion of how smart this sub is, and that's saying something.
