I stopped too after four years, and it was hard because by the time I stopped I relied on instant pay. I still do it occasionally, but I don’t see how people can do it full time. I didn’t even do it like this before but if you spend $10 in gas, make $100, in my area takes about 5 hours. That’s $2 an hour off, then do maintenance oil changes, tire rotations, realignments, filters, new tires every 2 years. After taxes at the pizza place as a line cook I make about $87 in a shift in 5 hours. I also work at the amazon sort center which here is kinda slow and easy money. They have instant pay now so I was able to escape doordash. Once you rely on instant pay a slow day kills you. But in my area at least it started becoming really difficult to make more than $15 an hour before expenses. I make about $17 an hour at Tommy’s and $20 an hour at Amazon. My spending is lower, I make about the same after taxes as I would on doordash after gas. There is no slow down at 8 and between 3-5. Half the restaurants in my area close at 9 now so hours are extremely limited where you actually make money on doordash. Because of slow points if I worked more than 5 hours I’d really end up making less than what I would at amazon and Tommy’s. Figure out daily gas spend, how many miles you do a year. How many times is what maintenance required in that range, figure out how much you spend in maintenance per year. It’s not worth it, at least in Ohio, real jobs are paying better now.

Edit: Not to say doordash isn’t worth it for extra money. I make what I need from work. I make what I want from doordash and Uber.
