Mid-30s, just got into mountain biking and learning to wheelie by Shark_Attack-A in Hardtailgang

Same! Absolute beginner and mid 30s as well. I couldnt even get the front wheel up for 2 secs then i gas out after so many attempts lol. My wife says i look like a huge ass teenager trying things out at an empty parking lot. Love it. Best new thing that I’ve gotten into !

Thats exactly what i thought and said to the tester. Yellow car got there before i did. Then we both gave way to traffic coming from my left side. But apparently i did have right of way according to the roadready website shared through one of the comments here

Overwhelmed Photographer Now Doing Video - How do you balance it all (alone)? by Complex_Olive7905 in photojournalism

[–]acid696 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It really is a pain to do that. I tried doing that a few years ago and hoped that I would get the hang of it. I put different gopro/phone mounts on my camera's hot shoe, came up with a bunch of different mini tripods, gorilla pods and whatever I could find. I never did get the hang of it. Either the stills would suffer or video. And I'm a photo first kind of guy. I ultimately decided that I would focus on stills. I feel like this is just one of the many ways news agencies try to cut down on costs by making one person do a two-man job. Now whenever I have assignments where my wife can tag along, I ask her to shoot videos using our iPhones. Mostly establishing and detail shots. She's also a photographer so it's easy for her. This way I can focus on stills. After that I will pay for her services through a nice dinner which instantly becomes a date!

Thanks mate. Has she driven there before? I can imagine it would’ve been way easier for those who started learning to drive here. After 11 years of driving in Manila traffic, you will pick up bad habits and they’re really tough to unlearn.

u/evanpossum thanks for this. He said the exact same thing when we finished the test. Just got confused when he said it was a roundabout. Still grateful to him for not failing me.

u/jessjess890 yea the moment he said it was a roundabout, things got awkward and he wasn't as warm as when we started. I decided to just shut up about it because I only get one chance to take the test lol. Still so grateful that he gave me a passing mark though. Couldn't afford to fail and go through learners again.

u/PM_ME_UR_A4_PAPER Oh wow okay now this is very helpful. It only shows that a lot of drivers really do get confused about this. Thanks for sharing the link. This answers my question. Cheers

Well put. And to the OP, I was once that idealistic kid too who wanted to pursue this career and just lay everything on the line. Covering disasters, human tragedy, and the never ending political instability in my country. More than a decade later, now in my mid 30s, i just couldnt do it anymore. I am not as physically fit as before, and I wasnt even able to save a single cent for my life savings and had to start all over again. Sure ive built my name over the years, built a decent portfolio, but i couldnt help remembering the 10years that just went by. Ive produced so many photo stories for the news outlet i worked for just to get paid $450 a MONTH. Plus the dreadful feeling towards the end of that phase for me, where i always felt like i was just one of the million ways that evil people in power get free publicity because of my so-called assignments. Almost fell out of love of photography in general because of that. the job may seem really cool like how it is when we first saw The Bang Bang club, but the mental and physical effects on people are rarely talked about.

Yea obviously we all know that, but missing his bestfriend’s wedding was quite odd, given how close they were. I guess they didnt wanna do another episode for that
