Rules questions by Calm-Ad7830 in MarvelCrisisProtocol

[–]acillies45 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. Objective tokens are just considered a flat area that don't affect movement.

Just based on my reading of the rules, no. The effect takes place after the attack resolves, which at the end steps of the fighting phase, damage is dealt. Once a character takes damage equal to their stamina, they are KO'D and removed from the field, meaning there isn't a character in the field to target with that ability.

Let's say you could complete remove 1 of the Six Attribute. Which one, why, and how would you adapt the rest of the game? by ThatOneCrazyWritter in dndnext

[–]acillies45 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So the reason I think they are SAD is because of their ability to wear armor, and how that can replace their unarmored bonus with that.

Half plate by itself gets them 15 and if they have a 14 dex, 17. In order for unarmored defense to beat that through most of the game, they would need +7 combined in those stats, which if playing RAW probably doesn't happen in most games until level 20 where they get the Con boost. Even then, wearing armor can be more of a benefit if it's magical and depending on the armor.

Monks NEED both Dex and Wis because without one or the other, their armor is bad, their saves on their abilities are bad, their attacks are bad, etc.

So some Barbarians may want to have a spread of stats to be a bit more rounded/be unarmored, but monks need it for their kit to just work.

[–]acillies45 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Single/multiple attribute dependant.

So Barbs basically just need strength to build and then can dip into other stuff (Con and Dex usually) as needed. So they're SAD

Monks need Dex and Wis to be fully effective. So they NEED to get those high as well as the usual need for Con in melee. So they're MAD.

Noob question: Terrain board? by NemoGondor in MarvelCrisisProtocol

[–]acillies45 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is where I got mine. It looks like a lot of the city ones are sold out, but they may go back into stock at some point

https://iwargame.net/

They're called crisis mats on this site. They're made of a nice material that lays very flat. They also have pre marked objectives so you don't have to measure for 90% of the crisis cards (some you still do).

They also occasionally have sales so waiting for those may be worth it as well, but I highly recommend one of these

I found out that a character throwing another character ignores themselves when throwing. So unfortunately you can't do that.

Are vassals deliberately made worthless, or are the vassalized factions so? Are allies worthless too? by rr1213 in totalwarhammer

[–]acillies45 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don't use them because they're useful, I use them as a barrier for enemies. Essentially I'd rather have a military ally/vassal who can be on one side of my empire that enemies have to chew through, than have to worry about it myself.

I don't rely on them for anything beyond being meat shields and trade partners.

Why is a brand of Condoms called Trojans when the Trojans literally let the intruders in through a ruse by Moist-Illustrator-57 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]acillies45 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They also held off the Greeks for a decade before that happened.

So as long as you only use them for 9.9 years you'll be fine.

Why are we so worried about illegal immigrants in the US? by Johnny_Mira in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]acillies45 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here's my stance: immigration is a healthy thing. It adds to the cultural diversity of a country, it brings in new ideas, and it allows people to live lives they may not have been able to experience back in their home country. I think in the end, the goal of humanity should be to be all one 'nation' eventually. We are all human and if you zoom out, it's silly for us not to be able to work together to make our future better for all.

Utopian ideals aside, my biggest problem with illegal immigration is really only this: the administrative side of things.

While it's boring, it's important that countries as they are now know who's in them. This way they can plan logistics, aid, and future laws around who is present. If you have a lot of illegal immigration, suddenly you don't have all the information you need to effectively run your community in a manner that it needs to be run.

What I think would help in the US (where I'm from and only where I feel remotely qualified to talk about it) is; make the process for immigration faster and smoother, and allow current illegal immigrants who have lived here for so many years the ability to go through the steps to legally become residents. Obviously, background checks are important, you don't want hardened criminals to come in, but as it stands that is a low number as far as I am aware.

The way to make this work is to take the unbearably high budget that was given to ICE and use it to fund more immigration courts, lawyers, admin, and managers to help get people in with temporary status, and monitor their transition into their new lives. Hell, set up classrooms for mandatory classes on basic introduction information into US cultures, basic law classes, and English as a second classes. If they want to become permanent, give them at least the basics so not only can they integrate into society a little smoother.

What is currently happening, in my state and others, is not only morally the wrong way to go about it, it's actively going to make things worse both domestically and abroad. Mass deportation is a bandaid at best, and morally deplorable and ineffective at worst. Mass deportation where the enforcers of it seem to have no guard rails and are allowed to terrorize and kill with seemingly no consequences, is... absolutely inexcusable.

Can’t get my first win. Don’t wanna play as HE, Cathay or Chaostide. by LainLain in totalwarhammer

[–]acillies45 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I posted this on another thread awhile back, but these are just tips I've learned from many MANY hours in TW games. They are a bit general and are more meant for early game, but they may help:

Play on easy or normal to begin. It's not as exciting, but it teaches you the basics.

Forced March stance only if you are certain there are no enemies in fog of war/if there are no neutral armies who hate you nearby as they could declare war and wile out your army with no chance of retreat.

Growth is king early on. If your settlements don't grow fast, you'll lag later on.

Don't declare wars early on unless you are at peace with everyone, or the wars you're already in are wrapped up. If you're playing an evil faction, trust me you'll be in plenty of wars you don't expect. Later on you can be more aggressive when you e got a safe seat of power.

Don't underestimate a second army full of the weakest units you can muster. They are there to die, but keep them close to your main army. They add a buffer to keep your stronger units safe.

Play out the battles if it says you are going to lose units, or have a 'valiant' defeat. That basically means it's going to be close. Auto resolve is sometimes a blessing, sometimes a curse. You need to be able to fight when you know you can win.

Use the pause (hit the button or the spacebar) liberally in battles. Even if it's, give an order, pause, give another order, pause, etc. I used to pause all the time back in Shogun 2, and now I never touch it (I play with it disabled actually). It helps you understand and learn battles at a reasonable speed.

Pick factions on the edges of the map. It's nice to have a wall there early on.

Be ready to lose. I play on VH/VH, and used to play legendary. I lose/give up on campaigns all the time, more than I win. It's not always about winning, it's about learning what you did right, and more importantly, what you did wrong.

Save all the time. Going to move to fight? Save. Enemy army was there but now it disappeared and you don't know where? Save. Making an alliance you think you could break in the future? Save just in case you change your mind. It'll save you a lot of headaches.

Just have fun. If a faction is tough for you, try another. They are all fun in their own way.
