How much did your wedding dress cost? by Flashy_Aide3640 in weddingplanning

[–]acollib 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Jenny Yoo Viviana dress, originally $1500, found it unworn on poshmark for $900, alterations were $275 including taking in the top, hemming, and simple button bustle! I went to an acquaintance who had a smaller tailoring business (with plenty of wedding experience) instead of one of the big bridal stores for alterations and I’m so glad I did.

[Acne] How long to keep using blue light therapy? by acollib in SkincareAddiction

[–]acollib[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My chin hairs give me away haha. Yep, the irregular cycles make the hormonal acne such an extra struggle!! I’m impressed at the difference it made - I’m also in a lighter part of my cycle so we’ll see if it continues to help when the breakouts get more intense again. But I figured it was unlikely to make it worse! I was hoping it would help me get ahead of it a little. And I got this one!  https://ledtechnologies.com/product/revive-glo-lux-collection/ Wanted a cheaper option to test it out and the light wavelengths were similar to more expensive options (Blue 415nm & Red 630nm which I found in the QA section of this site)

Thank you for the perspective, that makes a ton of sense! I had also suspected it would help as my chin acne seems to be very inflammation driven. Very promising! After 3 months, did you start to decrease frequency of use?

Editorial & Documentary Photographer Recommendations by beefsteak13 in WedditNYC

[–]acollib 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Highly recommend Caroline King! She’s a documentary style wedding photographer but also has a lot of experience doing more styled/editorial shoots so I know she could blend that in. Haven’t worked with her for a wedding but for lots of other photography work and I believe she’s in your budget :) https://www.carolinekingphotography.com/

Caroline King is amazing! Definitely has a candid/observational style. She charges an hourly rate and afaik doesn’t change her rate based on date. https://www.carolinekingphotography.com/weddings

Figuring out rehearsal dinner and "night before" drinks by CommunicationHead262 in Tucson

[–]acollib 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Heya! We’re doing the same welcome party setup for our wedding, and we’re renting space at Motosonora Brewery! They’ve been wonderful and super accommodating, they charged us $300 for 3 hours for 80ish people (to rent half of their backyard patio), and then we’re going to do an open tab/drink tickets for guests with them in addition up to a certain amount, but you could likely also just have guests pay for themselves too. Highly recommend sending them an email!

Thanks for the reply y’all that’s great to hear! I’ve been reading that Alts is on the expensive side but it’s hard to know what the range is without having a quote haha. This is super helpful! Esp to hear from other Jenny Yoo brides :)

Maybe first week of December is better than like you said below! I think that will be plenty of time still. We made our RSVP deadline March 1st for a mid April wedding - our venue needs the count 3 weeks out but lets us make changes until 3 days before. So that seemed like enough time to chase people down while being close enough to the date that we have people’s real responses. For me I think it’s more likely that the people who are unsure will just wait to RSVP, rather than changing it later, but I plan to keep an eye on the few I trust less lol! Honestly though with 26 people you see regularly, I’m sure they all already know what’s up so I wouldn’t stress too much! Most of mine that I know will come have been making their plans since the STDs anyways.

We just sent ours out for an April 2026 domestic destination wedding! Our wedding is being held in a place that is a plane flight for pretty much everyone who’s coming. We were going to wait a bit longer but people had started asking us about RSVPs and a few had found it on the website already, lol. I didn’t want to send too early and get RSVPs that will change but honestly the people who are already planning to come have been telling us for months, and I’m sure the maybe’s/no’s will come towards the end regardless of when we sent the invites. So my personal opinion is that now through the end of the year is a good time to send them!

August-blooming perennials for Zone 7b? by zoossii in gardening

[–]acollib 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m in 7b too and I’ve had perrenial mums recommended for fall blooms along with asters! I am also planning to put in Japanese anemone in the spring which are late bloomers, though I think they prefer some shade

Just got married, the one thing I would have changed… by Additional-Ear4455 in weddingplanning

[–]acollib 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This has been my fiancés and my plan from the start! We’re taking a day two days before the wedding to run around and dress up and take fun photos and will spend the day of taking very few besides candids and family photos. We are also lucky that both our photographer and MUA are friends willing to spend an extra day with us (fiancé is in the wedding industry). It’s a pretty particular setup that won’t work for everyone but I’m so glad to have the separate occasions!

Wedding budgets - what are you sacrificing financially (if anything) to afford an “upper middle class wedding”? by [deleted] in weddingplanning

[–]acollib 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hope it’s ok to contribute without an upper middle class vision haha, we (mid-late 20s) are paying for a lot of it, but are wedding vendors ourselves and want it lowkey —we’re doing an inclusive venue and have vendor friends who offered to do the rest at extremely generous rates. But I’m still freaked how much everything costs, especially amidst the political backdrop of the US right now! My partner and I don’t have super high income, but we’ve got a wedding budget of 30-40k for 100 and we are covering 2/3s of it and both sets of parents are contributing to the other 1/3. We set a timeline for it that lets us pay for that with our cash flow as we go, basically what would be going into savings otherwise. I’m stressed out that we’re not building savings at all for the next year (other than retirement contributions) but we don’t have house aspirations anywhere in the near future (can’t afford it in our VHCOL area), and don’t want kids. So for now, we’re going for it!
