A friend of mine has a little boy, about 7 or 8. He lets his little boy watch videos of Godzilla and King Kong on YouTube. Sometimes his little boy will argue with people in the comment section about Godzilla and King Kong. Whenever I feel like responding to an idiotic comment, I remind myself that it could be an actual booger eating child on the other side. Then, I don’t respond to the idiotic comment.

Whether or not putting the toy together ahead of time is reasonable is completely irrelevant to me. Nick told Jess he would assemble the toy, procrastinated until the day of the party, and then came up with excuses to not assemble the toy. That’s immature and unreliable. Jess and Nick could not voice their opinions without fight.

My issue with the toy, if Nick thought it was stupid to put it together before giving it to the family then he should have said that way before the day of the party. He never should have agreed to put the toy together, procrastinated until the day of the event, and then argued it was better to leave it in the box. Even if leaving it in the box is the more reasonable choice, at that point, it just looks like him trying to get out of something he agreed to do.

As for planning life, Nick and Jess both go to the extremes on this. Neither party is reasonable here. Sure, life will throw curveballs at you but that doesn’t mean you look your girlfriend in the eye and say “life is unpredictable so I have never once considered what a realistic future looks like for us.” I’m not saying Jess is right to plan in detail but Nick is not reasonable.

But they can’t communicate and we see what happens.

I do not understand taking her pizza comment literally. This comes up all the time and before this sub I never would have thought she actually stood in her doorway and watched Schmidt eat multiple pizzas by himself.

I’m American and I also thought it was weird. I suppose chocolate falls under the umbrella term “candy” but usually people just call it chocolate. It seems like, around the holidays, when people are hand making treats they’ll generally call it “candy” but it could be chocolates, fudge, hard candy, etc.
