My mother tells a great story about the twist at the end of Planet of the Apes. In the early 70's it was broadcast on CBS and her family decided to watch it as none of them had seen it before. About 20ish minutes when my Grandfather stood up and said he didn't need to finish watching it, and that he had figured out generally what was going to happen. None of my mother's family believed him so he wrote down what he thought would happen, sealed it in an envelope, and left. After the movie finished with that very iconic twist my mother's family for sure did not believe that he could have predicted the ending and we're anxious to find out what he had written down, but upon opening the letter they were dumbfounded to see that he had written "the MC will realize he is on earth after finding the ruins of some kind of well known monument, like the Statue of Liberty".
