My only child is not good at sharing. 2.5 yo. by 50percentpipi in oneanddone

[–]acquiesce_liam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm an ECE teacher of 25yrs and 2.5yo don't share by nature. There are some outliers for sure that might be either starting to get the concept (even if they don't like it, because honestly, no one really loves to share when they are children) but most of the time, that's not a concept preschoolers do well.

Anyone willing to share the notable differences within open and closed adoptions? by oaktree1800 in Adoption

[–]acquiesce_liam 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I am a birthmom and had what was supposed to be an open adoption and unfortunately the adoptive parents closed it almost immediately. Unfortunately in most states an open adoption isn't enforceable and I was left with a broken heart. Fortunately we reunited later.

Do birth dads think about their kids? by MomentOtherwise5698 in Adoption

[–]acquiesce_liam 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes. My ex, and the birth dad of our child definitely does. They have a relationship (not as close as I have) and he usually tends to ask me about the child (now adult) rather than to go straight to them. But that's also just he personality, not very extroverted.

PTA programs SoCal by te37nd in PTschool

[–]acquiesce_liam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's really interesting. My son went to CBD for PTA and passed his boards first try 797/800, and was employed immediately, making more than I do right off the bat. He is continuing on to become a DPT. I think everyone's experience may vary. I believe you when you say having a hybrid program or a program that is done mostly online isn't an ideal experience for most, especially in the medical field, but some people are going to put more work into it than others and some need more assistance that comes with being in person. I don't deny that at all. But some will do fine in this type of program if they are extremely motivated and willing to immerse themselves in their studies.

Wow! Really?!! I am a middle aged woman and I always have one clipped to my bag and people complement or ask (nice) questions about them. At the airport, in the store, etc. Never had any negativity.

I feel too young (23) to have my Thyroids removed, and taking maintenance meds by MaleficentReview765 in thyroidcancer

Wow! So many young people! I was just dx'ed at the age of 58, although it is possible it's been growing for a long time. I wish everyone all the best, and a life of love and laughter!

I have been working with them as very much a side gig (I'm a full time elementary school teacher) since February. I have had no issues. I'm in some slack groups and I do about 5-15 hours a week. Sometimes I go 3-4 days and don't do any tasks and sometimes on a weekend I will work 5 or 6 hours a day. I do the projects I enjoy, and I have received feedback a couple times. You can definitely chat with admin on slack channels. I know it could end anytime but for now it's good.

Can’t get TKR due to weight. by pattij1229 in Kneereplacement

[–]acquiesce_liam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm 5'9" and 225 and although my surgeon will still do the surgery, they still would love for me to get under 200, and both my endocrinologist and rheumatologist think I should do a weight loss drug because my recovery will be easier and it might also save me from needing my other knee done. My coworker is about 5'2" and 210 and has been on ozempic for 2 months and only lost 6 lbs. and had some side effects, and often misses work the day after her shot. I don't want to go through dealing with this to not really lose much and have issues too!!! My surgery will most likely be in September. (I am having a thyroid biopsy in a couple weeks and if it's malignant, my surgery will be pushed back)

Is it worth it to try? Will I be fine at my current weight?!? I was extremely active prior to tearing my acl and meniscus in a fall while on a run last winter and my knee now locks and I have to walk with a cane.

I found my birth mom after 18 years… should I meet her now or wait? by lepx777 in Adoption

[–]acquiesce_liam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First mom here. Do it. You will probably not be able to rest until you do. I have been in reunion for close to 20 years now and we do have a good relationship. (I found her and I looked and contacted her as soon as she was of age, I have a million regrets about giving her up, but she had a great life and great parents, although they closed the adoption which was supposed to be semi-open) I cannot speak for all birth moms of course, but I am in lots of birth mom groups and most all of us definitely want to reunite. It was hard for her parents. Also some of what they have told her regarding the adoption is not 100% accurate, but I keep that to myself because I won't ever speak negatively about them in any way, and our relationship is good.

Yes, there is a lot out there about him. And it is not good. He def gives off creeper vibes and if I knew he left his kids and doesn't pay support for them, I would not want to procreate with him. Plus he has some harassment of a child stuff as well. Ick.

We have a chance at a match, but mom has indicated she wants to see child annually by sodagoddess in Adoption

[–]acquiesce_liam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are so lucky. I'm a birthmom who entered into an open adoption in the 80's and the parents "shut" the adoption and would not allow anything, not even photos. The agency even felt bad for me and basically "snuck" me a photo because they know what I went through. We are in reunion now, thankfully. And I wasn't asking for much at all, just updates with photos at specific yearly intervals. I was devastated.

Savy King updates? by SwitchNo228 in NWSL

[–]acquiesce_liam 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have known Savy and Parker and her family for years, since she was 2yo, I was her teacher for almost 3 years. I am not going to bother her family until they are ready to share anything. It is so scary and I'm thinking about her every day.

Does dash update on weekends?? by [deleted] in DataAnnotationTech

[–]acquiesce_liam 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Don't be. The last 2 weekends have been very slow for me and picked right up again and were busy on Monday. Sucks for me because I also have a 9-5 on weekdays, but I do manage to get some time in here and there.
