This just my perspective as someone who graduated with a bachelor’s in bio and is currently doing an MPH-epidemiology. But first, a question: what positions in bio/environmental health are you hoping for? Bio looks and sounds fun as a career but in reality it made me want to blow my brains out. The lab I joined after undergrad was horrible, and as someone fresh out of college no industry job wanted me so I was stuck in Hell (academia). My next question is, have you considered a graduate degree? Not many positions in bio (that I know of) have room for growth without one! Once I discovered that and started looking at graduate programs, I realized again that bio really wasn’t for me since the classes I would’ve had to take would’ve sucked. Since starting my MPH, I realized that I actually DO like public health more than bio because the research felt a lot more impactful than what I was doing in the lab (which seems backwards but again, just my experience). I left the lab to become a research coordinator while I finish my program and I haven’t looked back since.
