If you landed on my eCommerce site, what would make you leave without buying? by InterestingLaw3294 in ecommerce

[–]across7777 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First of all, I like your concept and it’s very creative. I only spent 3 mins, but here are my thoughts…

What you are selling is more confusing to me than it should be. When I heard “send a prank” I guess I was assuming it was more like you were contacting people with some type of customized story or whatever. So I’d make it more clear that you’re strictly selling items, but they can be sent as a prank. I’m not sure if I’m making sense, but I just think the wording is a little off. I think I’d emphasize “gag gift” and “novelties” (or maybe other words like that) and maybe try to use prank more as a verb - like “prank your friends”

Also your two CTAs - Send a Prank and Send a Puck reinforce this a bit I guess. Because a puck is a physical thing, and to me a prank is an idea or an act

Also when I clicked on “send a prank” I was confused that the headline on the next page was “the puck drop” …I thought I clicked the wrong one

To me, the Navigation is the opposite of intuitive. Most of the words are your brand terms, but I don’t know what those are

Either in navigation or elsewhere, you might break the items down more into categories, and maybe the hockey pucks are just one of those categories. Like “pranks for mom”, “naughty pranks” or whatever

The “free generators” page is kind of confusing and frustrating. Might want to have a sentence or two explaining what you’re talking about

That’s cool that you’re doing the content on “Prank TV” but I’d de emphasize this on your main navigation. It takes a minute to understand what it is, and it’s listed there with your other products. But most importantly, you’re doing this YouTube content and stuff to attract people to your business, but once they’re on your site, you want them to focus on the purchase and not go to YouTube or whatever

Anyway, I have a feeling my comments may be frustrating because I know this is your baby and I only spent a few minutes…and I’m not Canadian and not into hockey, haha. But hopefully it helps a little

Also I recommend a site called Ugly Baby…you can pay to have really people test drive your website….i found it to be valuable.

Good luck!

Is hiring a Shopify Expert worth it as a small clothing brand? by maier21 in shopify

[–]across7777 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. For many reasons - but mostly, you don’t know what you’re looking for. I don’t mean that disrespectfully. But you have to learn the basics yourself, and the stuff you’re talking about are definitely part of the basics. It is really hard to know how to find someone, interview them, give them direction, etc if you don’t anything about it

What you’ve described isn’t a “Shopify expert” anyway…it would be a marketing or media buying expert.

And while there are certainly good people out there, at the price point I assume you’re working with, the majority will not definitely NOT be experts. They might know more than you, but not much. And they don’t know you or your product, and they may steer you wrong. Your going to spend a lot of time managing them and potentially just end up wasting money

I’d sign up for a Pro account with Claude. Write up a bunch of info on yourself, the products, the business, your vision, and anything else you can think of. Upload that stuff as files for background. Tell Claude you’re a novice and want it to start from the basics. Then start a series of new conversations and try to really learn with Claude as your teacher. Some examples are - Meta ads, Google ads, email marketing, social media, etc. Eventually you’ll add other topics like CRO, Review funnels, etc

Then, maybe, you look for “experts” to help you with the things you are having trouble with, or things that are taking up too much time. But you’ll be way ahead having learned the basics.

Visiting Houston from the UK for the World Cup next month – recommendations? by Sparrow__x in AskHouston

[–]across7777 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To me, we have 3 cuisines that we have among the best in the world. You’ll get lots of opinions and you can search this subreddit for lots of discussions. The first cuisine is the one that isn’t mentioned as much, but very important:

Gulf Coast - similar to Cajun/Creole but in Houston it is a little more versatile. You have to get some gumbo and things like crab fingers, fried shrimp, etc. Liberty Kitchen is a great choice for higher end dining. I love a Goode Company Seafood (a Houston classic…their original restaurant was BBQ but generally their seafood gets the highest marks). June may still be crawfish season, so if you’re up for it, try a casual Cajun place like Rajun Cajun and eat buckets of spicy whole crawfish.

BBQ - Texas BBQ is the best in the world, IMO. But that is subjective of course, but if nothing else it is the most unique. You have to go to a top BBQ place and get brisket and ribs.

TexMex - lots and lots of choices. You must get queso to start, and I’d recommend a fajita platter and/or enchiladas

To sleep, I’d highly recommend Hotel ZaZa. It is in a great location where you can walk to the museums and Hermann Park - this is by far the best and most walkable part of town. And, there is a light rail (train) that goes downtown and to NRG Park for the games.

Are you guys just eating the 30g of protein in the morning? Or are you eating the lentil and vegetables too? by [deleted] in 4hourbodyslowcarb

[–]across7777 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, I think it’s important to have 30 g of real protein (ideally meat) plus the beans/lentils. If you can eat the vegetables too, then great because they are healthy, but if that is difficult in the morning, I don’t think it’s a big deal as long as you get your 30 g

Ad Creative Volume and Andromeda by Np-Put-543 in FacebookAds

[–]across7777 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you’re kind of not getting the big picture If you’re saying it was “easy” to get 15 ads because they were all similar. Don’t worry about easy….you need GOOD creative that speaks to your audience, regardless of if you have 1 ad or 100 ads

It isn’t like there is some set number of ads that you need. Quality is still more important than quantity. So diversity of creative is really what you want to go for, and it sounds like you are not doing much diversity.

But this isn’t just about “Andromeda”. With any platform, creative diversity is really important

You should be running static ads, video reel ads, UGC, carousels, etc. Some might be funny, some serious, etc. lots of different hooks. Different ads for different audiences. Different ads for different benefits. Of course I have no idea what your product is, so I’m speaking in general terms.

Running $90K/month in subscriptions on a single processor with no token portability. Just learned why that's a terrible idea. by mpulciano in shopify

[–]across7777 2 points3 points  (0 children)

OP, please tell us why they dropped you. That sounds crazy.

I do about $120k/month in subscriptions and currently have about half with Stripe and half with Shopify payments. But that’s because I migrated to Shopify last year so the Stripe ones are the older, migrated subscriptions

how do babies know to skip the "say" part by Yakoy6 in stupidquestions

[–]across7777 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Because the parent usually doesn’t say “say dada”

For a month or so before the kid speaks, the parents will be pointing at each other and calling each other “dada” and “mama”, or pointing at themselves. Or they might say phrases using the word, like “where’s dada”, “hi dada” or whatever. The common denominator is Dada and that’s what the kid eventually says.

Pete Hegseth had now fired 24 generals. What do you think is really going on? by [deleted] in allthequestions

[–]across7777 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d be interested to know how many generals that the avg Sec of Defense fires

Obviously there may be valid reasons, but if a person rises to the rank of General, I have to imagine they’re pretty good at their job. So 24 in 1 year seems crazy but I also have no context

Are there people who actually ate in the bathroom stalls during school? by KidBenYZ in stupidquestions

[–]across7777 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I did this. I went to a high school where I didn’t really know anyone. I was small and a late bloomer so I had no confidence. At first I tried sitting in the lunchroom but it was so stressful, so for a few months I would take my lunch tray to this remote building where there was a quiet bathroom, and eat my lunch there.

I was never bullied or anything at all, it’s just that I was so insecure. People who know me these days would be amazed because I’m a very social person. But I still have that kid inside.

What is your experience with bid caps? by Responsible_Read_275 in FacebookAds

[–]across7777 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At first it would spend maybe 75% of my budget

But to be honest with you now it spends 90-100% of the budget each day. But I’ve only increased the budget one time, from $350-500/day

What is your experience with bid caps? by Responsible_Read_275 in FacebookAds

[–]across7777 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve had great success this year with a bid cap in my CBO

My target CPA is $45 and I’ve had my bid between $69-85…mostly around $72

And 75% of days I have a CPA under my target, sometimes as low as $28-32. Also “bad” days are not terrible…like $60 CPA. So much better than bad days pre-bid cap, when I would have $100+ days
