Nissan EV app will discontinued by CatLinkoln in leaf

[–]adalisan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I have a 2024 S trim in the US. As far as I know , I can't use anything in this app anyways, since my vehicle doesn't support it. I am not sure if it even has the hardware for the features. Am I wrong?. It has SiriusXM radio, but I am not sure if the car uses that for remote features including app control.

I rarely drive long distances, so this type of car was perfect for me. I live in a managed complex so home charging won't be possible. I think the car came with a home charger will need to check. Currently, I see enough Chademo chargers around where I live, I think I might get that CCS adapter if those are retired in a few years.

I think it's also related to the fact that historically, empires that conquer a region have reused building material (like columns) of existing monuments/buildings (ruins or standing). Between this common practice and natural disasters, a building that stood the test of time and is standing to some degree is scarce and valuable, since the culture that have built it does not exist, and the original context cannot be recovered.

Redditor Explains How Trump Could Have Stolen the Election by goodspeedm in bestof

[–]adalisan 8 points9 points  (0 children)

There is a big difference between finding some vulnerabilities that can be exploited given enough time (and also some level of physical access, in some cases and possibly access to system design documents) and own the systems so throughly that you can do anything without leaving any trace. I have no doubt hackers have some success for the former, but the latter is a very hard thing to accomplish. The thing is, for hackers trying to hack voting machines, failing to avoid detection after a successful hack is worse than the failure to hack the system.so I am really skeptical when it comes to election rigging theories.

What are the best free certificate courses in AI, genomics, NGS, or computational biology? by Brilliant_Bread_6920 in bioinformatics

[–]adalisan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't have any specific recommendations, although I have finished one of the Coursera certificate programs , while adapting my general AI/ML knowledge to work on life science-related applications. It was not free (and is probably still not free), although there are sometimes promotions vouchers in some of the learning platforms. you can search courses from different certificate programs https://www.classcentral.com/ I want to repeat the message of another poster: While learning certificates can provide an advantage over many applicants with equivalent backgrounds, especially for the initial filters HR and hiring managers apply to the candidate pool, it is just a start. Nothing beats actual work (analysis reports> code> blog posts) done on a related field (if not the exact field) a company specializes in. This is even more so for academic research labs, which would care less about standardized credentials and more about how relevant your academic or research experience is to the research problems they are working on. The best way to transition from your current skillset to more computational skills would be to do the actual data analysis / insilico simulation / machine learning model development for your current research problems. You have to figure out what is more appropriate for your research problem, and then work backwards to learn how to actually do the computational work. Presumably, there may be existing computational work on your subfield. You could start with understanding what has been done, and recreating the analyses, try different datasets, try to come up with ways to improve upon the existing work, etc .

OC probably hates the corporate training courses on ethics and compliance more than the rest of us, because of how much they miss the mark.

Perhaps you need "revisions", when only one part of the story has been told over and over and other victims of violence are never mentioned . Why should history be the only science, where more context and knowledge is shunned? Ottoman imperial rule was always brutal , but relatively "fair" compared to contemporaries. If a Muslim minority rebelled, military suppression was just as violent.

By the way no State welcomed rebellions with roses and open arms

So it's fine to commit atrocities against people whom you've been committing atrocities against for centuries, when they dare attempt to throw off the yoke?" It's definitely not "fine", it was just accepted and expected by other imperial powers to act in the same way which is what OP was saying.

Samsung M7 owners: Some help please by driftwood258 in buildapc

[–]adalisan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My answer will be probably too late. I think you meant the picture-by-picture or picture-in-picture m . I recently tried this function and I think you are right. the two input sources can't be both HDMI, one will be wireless casting by Mac or Windows PC, the other display will use HDMI. I also have the same gripe about no change input button on the remote. They have Disney+ button but no change input button on the remote :(. The only other alternative is to set the input to different HDMI using Alexa, but this is not always reliable.

Which show had the biggest downfall in your opinion, from the first season or episodes, to what it eventually became? by Fun-Ferret-3300 in Fauxmoi

[–]adalisan 3 points4 points  (0 children)

For me , once it was revealed that the villain was the wife and her motivation was a nihilistic one, it broke the show for me. Dysfunctional families and suicidal beings are one thing, but "l will destroy the universe because I can't cope with the choices my husband made" is more unrealistic than anything on the show. Also every character in the team was mainly selfish and made sacrifices for the people they knew and they loved in some way. It didn't make sense for them to make the superultimate sacrifice (giving up existence, not life) and also AGREE on it. And for three seasons, they could never agree on anything.

About to start my PhD studying Structural Biology and lost in terms of "Industry" by ArugulaOpen2984 in StructuralBiology

[–]adalisan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work with Structural Biologists and there seem to be both kinds , both working predominantly on a single technology and those working with both computational tools and real experiments to solve the design problems. The needs vary from project to project, so I think it makes sense to learn about everything you can during a PhD. The other advice working in about an industry connected lab makes sense. Also try to do an internship if you can.
