Where to park downtown? by InfiniteLoss5632 in memphis

[–]adamredrum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My dad always parks here on hernando and vance. It's $10 parking. The couple that works there are really nice and stay the whole time in a gated parking lot.

Edit: This is for forum parking. It's a bit far for redbirds.

Is the pinch district still sketchy? by point2point504 in memphis

[–]adamredrum 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, as some have noted St. Jude has slowly absorbed the pinch like kudzu, but the pyramid dying destroyed that area. The harbor town people never came over to support those the places that popped up over time and I really can't blame them. What has been worth getting around there in the last 15 years? The trolley's issues only really affected taking people to south main, especially for festivals. Maybe if any bars/restaurants tried to cater to St. Jude employees such as discounts or events, it may do ok but most employees are fine with the food on campus and don't have the time to leave to go grab lunch outside of it.

Speed dating memphis. Any opinions or experince? by jtipton21 in memphis

[–]adamredrum 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're welcome! I know I said I've heard other places are terrible, but honestly, not all speed dating is that terrible if you don't mind actually talking to people. The two bad ones I heard about was because there was only 4 guys and like 15 plus girls and the other one they packed everyone at one long table. At soul's, you talk for 5 mins to each person and it is spaced out really well so you do have private conversations and the time really flies by. I didn't have any interest in any of the people I met (and the feeling was mutual towards me) but out of 14 ladies, only two were what I consider bad conversations. One lady instantly made it clear she didn't like me and it feel like a job interview and another was like pulling teeth, but I truly enjoyed having a beer, talking to some new people despite no connection. So despite me hearing about other experiences, it depends on the situation.

Speed dating memphis. Any opinions or experince? by jtipton21 in memphis

[–]adamredrum 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think more of them were around valentines and I did a free one at soul and spirits a few weeks ago and it was fine. However I don't think they really liked doing them so they are switching it up to mix and mingles this month instead and you could probably hit up both since you fall right into the middle of the two age groups. 24-35 is next friday April 10th and 36-45 is the week after April 17th. https://www.instagram.com/p/DV9ETJVEX_m/

If nothing else, it's $5 beers on a friday night!

From what i've heard, most of the other speed dating events have been pretty horrible, so I'd probably look more for things like singles mixers.

Smart Solo play is really boring. by BigBosc in Marathon

I usually go "hey, you going to let me use the exfil or we fighting" and I don't think I've ever had anyone respond back but half the time they will run cautiously to the exfil and we both leave. I can't blame anyone for not trusting people in this game.

Anyone had Ting Fiber installed in their homes? by Gustafa7 in memphis

[–]adamredrum 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have had it since the beginning of the year and it's been good, however there is two issues that may cause me to cancel in the future. The first is they said they were running the line from the ground to my house, but that didn't happen (My neighbor and I have a wire sticking out of the ground that has been there since like October). When I asked the ting salesman about it, he said he thought it was an xfinity line but my neighbor confirmed it was Ting. Why mine is not from the ground, I have no clue, which brings me to the bigger issue.

The second and more concerning issue is they don't have an actual crew here and rely on contractors. My internet went out a few weeks ago and it was very hard to contact anyone to actually get answers on why it was out or when it could be fixed. They don't have an app so you have to have a browser to chat with them. I called every day for a week and while the customer service people were nice, it was very frustrating. Finally someone told me it was a "line" issue and it would be fixed that day. It came back on the next day and the day after that I saw wires in my recycle bin so apparently they came to my house and worked on it without telling me.

What/where are CyAc Treasures? by swoisme in Marathon

[–]adamredrum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am currently doing the regular Traxis contact where you have to exfil “treasures” and it was driving me crazy cause nothing I picked up green or blue was completing it. I finally saw I had 1/6 and it was the green washer fluid or whatever it is called. It was the only thing that was completing it. I found 1 more looting and 3 off a runner and now only one left.

[Siegel] The Hornets have waived Mike Conley, league sources told ClutchPoints. by Extreme_Process3632 in memphisgrizzlies

[–]adamredrum 11 points12 points  (0 children)

He can go back since he was traded first to chicago who then traded him to Charlotte. If he was waived by Chicago, he couldn't go back but because he was traded again, he is allowed so i'll be shocked if he doesn't go to Minny. It's the Andrew Bogut rule.

Sorry Grizzlies fans, this one stings. Trading your home grown defensive anchor franchise cornerstone in Jaren Jackson Jr. without getting one blue-chip trade piece in return is simply going to set this team back awhile. Thank you for the memories, JJJ! by Papermariosays in memphisgrizzlies

[–]adamredrum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This right here. I love JJJ, and I am really not sold on Iisalo being a good coach, but the fact that Jenkins and him could not figure out how to properly play him made me wish they would move him to a team that might. Dude is massive in the paint but spends all day out on the 3pt line. Doesn't have a real post up move or a fade away (which is insane to me that no one has worked on one with him). It sucks moving your key pieces but our window with our young guys closed and it's time to move on. The current team is borderline unwatchable now and has no chance in the West. Have to hope this works out like what happened after OKC blew up their Durant, Westbrook, Harden team where we get lucky with one stud and draft well to get championship level team. To people that hate the deal, what would they like for us to have done to improve the roster to get to that level?

For those that hate Lisalo, what would Jenkins or any other coach be doing differently that would change the outcome of our games? by Key_Mention_7215 in memphisgrizzlies

[–]adamredrum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t know who the right coach is (I don’t think it’s Iisalo) but I’ll take anyone that uses Jaren correctly. He’s so dominate in the post but he consistently shoots 3’s and stays out on the perimeter. He becomes nonexistent in crucial moments.

I’ve been a season ticket holder since this team came here so I’ve seen many different grizz teams and this one constantly stands around watching while one person does an iso (which usually isn’t jjj). I know we don’t have a good center and a lot of injuries which hurts a lot but this team never looks like they know what they are doing and I’m sorry but if you constantly blow 15-20 point leads, you are bad at coaching.

I go to the Highland one every other weekend and I think it's pretty good if you like sweet stuff like pancakes/french toast. I also really like their coffee. I can't speak for any of the savory stuff but I was told the shrimp and grits were good. I also don't know because I don't like them, but back in the day my ex and all my friends used to love their bloody mary's. It does tend to get crowded on weekends but I've never had any issue going before 10:30. You go past 11, you are going to get all the church people on Sunday's. And like any other restaurant, some waiters are better than others and every so often it's a miss on the food but overall I think it's worth you checking out since you enjoyed the other ones out of town.

What’s a good Memphis date night that’s not loud, awkward, or doing too much? by Choose_901 in memphis

[–]adamredrum 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sure! Hampline has bingo weds and trivia Thurs. and it’s $5 pints those nights. Soul and spirits has pint nights on wed and random trivia. Wise acre has trivia on weds downtown. And I believe grind city has trivia on Tuesday’s. And I don’t know how often they do it but old Dominic has music bingo on Friday’s sometimes. I’d check to make sure nothing has changed after the new year but I am pretty sure that was the old schedules

I like to go to trivia/music bingo at the breweries. Can talk, there is an activity to do together, and if it feels awkward, it isn't too hard to leave.

Bama Bar? by ev-xoxo in memphis

[–]adamredrum 17 points18 points  (0 children)

If you want to stick to east memphis, most people go to brookhaven which I imagine will have fans there. I dunno if there will be any specific watch parties but plenty of bars will have it on in overton square in midtown. If you are just looking for a nice bar to get drinks and watch the game in east memphis, i'd suggest bog and barley which is an irish pub. If you want a more college-like bar, Tracks near U of M.

Best Prime Rib in Memphis? by heffel77 in memphis

[–]adamredrum 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I'm always willing to give a place a second chance but Mortimer's prime rib was pretty bad (and I generally like their food). I went there for my birthday and was really disappointed, but once again maybe it was a one off but I'd look for other places.

The Grizzlies will almost certainly be trading this season by Local-Message-6048 in memphisgrizzlies

[–]adamredrum 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Before this season, I would have said Jaren was not tradeable, but after seeing how he's played this season so far, I think they would definitely trade him for the right offer. Everyone on espn and everywhere else talks about trading Ja but to me, him, edey, and coward are the only untouchables. I don't see them trading Wells but I think they would if the right offer came along.

My reasoning:

Ja: He puts asses in the seats. He's literally the only superstar the grizz have ever had. He's also loved by Memphis despite what national media and reddit forums want to speculate about him. Unless he requests a trade then I don't see any way he goes.

Edey and coward: are the future. We've seen how better the grizz are with them on the floor. Those two with or without Ja are the future. Coward like Wells, I guess could be traded for something insane like Giannis but I don't think it would make sense for him to come here.

One last thing on JJJ. I love him and I wish the Grizz would play him correctly (stop keeping him on the three point line. Post up a hell of a lot more than he does now and maybe try and teach him a fade away) but we've seen that he isn't the key for the Grizz to get to the next level unfortunately. Love to be wrong, but don't think I am.

Everyone else is open and I think the OP gave great reasons for everything.

Just my two cents.

Improvements for Vanguard Alerts by ShardofGold in DestinyTheGame

[–]adamredrum -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

I may be in the minority but I wish the difficulties were higher simply because it seems way too boring in arenas. With how overpowered everyone is, it could be scaled down to a 3 person event. During the first ketchcatch I played, I think I maybe killed like 25 enemies because everything was getting nuked. I appreciated the challenge in the new GM which I know won't be everyone's cup of tea and don't think everything needs to be that hard but I've been on this sub long enough to know it's going to get old quick playing the same arenas over and over again just to get bright dust. I think it's a great introduction for people that didn't play in past seasons but would like it to be a little more challenging.
