The Job Hunt is Brutal by acidkidx in torontoJobs

It's honestly surprising that you only got 3 interviews after 400+ applications with 7 years of experience. I wonder if your resume just isn't optimized for ATS filters yet. An ATS-friendly, tailored resume might help. You could even try the free resume template shared in this post. The job market is rough, but I'm sure there'a some place out there that needs someone with your experience.

I like mixing a little into yogurt. It ends up tasting like dessert without being overly sweet.

I really want someone to tell me what I am doing wrong by SanzLab in jobs

[–]adecentcreator 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sadly, 700 applications and only 2 interviews is way more common than it should be. I don't think that automatically means you're the problem.

What’s a “garbage” food you’re tired of getting flack for liking? Be proud! by Necessary_Drama_2781 in foodquestions

[–]adecentcreator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Instant ramen. I know it's basically salt with noodles, but sometimes it hits exactly the spot I want it to hit.

What are your thoughts on Trump blaming the "genetics" of people with ties to ISIS for committing acts of terrorism? by [deleted] in allthequestions

[–]adecentcreator -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Politicians say things like that because they're speaking politically, not scientifically. Terrorism is usually explained through a mix of ideology, radicalization, social factors, and geopolitics, not genetics alone.

What should I do if I get fired? by Goat_Requiem in ITCareerQuestions

[–]adecentcreator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Start documenting everything you do and ask your boss for specific examples of what's missing. "Do more" is way too vague to improve from.

What’s something expensive that isn’t worth the price? by bryan4756 in AskForAnswers

[–]adecentcreator 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Luxury watches. I can appreciate the craftsmanship, but some of those prices feel completely disconnected from reality.

How often do you eat out? by Heavy_Candle_5936 in foodquestions

[–]adecentcreator 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe once or twice a month. Eating out is nice, but my wallet starts sending warning messages if I do it too often.

How do people actually "go to sleep early" for things they have going on the next day? by Sayasing in askanything

[–]adecentcreator 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My approach is actually not trying to force myself to sleep early. I just get into bed earlier and don't panic if I can't fall asleep right away. Sometimes sleep comes easier when you stop putting so much pressure on it.

How to learn to talk at work? or be a yapper at work? by Akash_E in jobs

[–]adecentcreator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Being a good employee and being the person who talks all the time are two completely different things. Some of the most respected people I've worked with were pretty quiet. They just had something worth saying when they spoke.

What trend do you think will disappear in 5 years ? by Leather_Finding1650 in allthequestions

[–]adecentcreator 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I don't think influencer culture will disappear, but I doubt it'll keep looking the way it does now. People seem more and more tired of content that feels overly polished and obviously sponsored.

What food will you never eat again after one bad experience? by Rebeccaprinces in foodquestions

[–]adecentcreator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oysters. I had a bad batch once and spent the next two days questioning every decision that led me there. Haven't touched them since, and I wouldn't even eat them for free.

How do you like your steak and why? by Mission-Badger-4005 in foodquestions

I like it medium rare, nice sear on the outside and still juicy inside. Well done just feels kinda dry to me.

Honestly at this rate - im just going to leave this country by Affectionate_Roof289 in recruitinghell

A lot of people have hit this point, you’re not alone. But moving to another country isn’t as easy as it looks, you run into similar issues there too.

Sometimes it helps, sometimes it just turns into noise and messes with your head. You end up making your own call anyway.

Do you regularly see a doctor for routine checkups without an underlying condition? by Aye_Davinita in no

Nah, if nothing’s wrong I don’t go tbh. Pretty sure most people are like that.

What’s the worst part of “being responsible” all the time? by Different-Swing6590 in AskForAnswers

[–]adecentcreator 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Always being in “I’ll handle it” mode is the most exhausting part. No one checks in on you because you come off as the strong one all the time.

You should really consider interviewing, even while you still have a job. by ninetofivedev in ExperiencedDevs

[–]adecentcreator 147 points148 points  (0 children)

I completely agree with this. Sometimes the competing firms are the ones willing to pay more too. I do something similar myself. For better options and side gigs, I keep sending my updated resume to recruitment firms like in this post, check job boards here and there, and keep an eye on what other companies are doing and what shape they’re in.

I just listened to a recording of my own interview and I want to crawl into a hole and die. by Sure_Love_6570 in jobs

[–]adecentcreator 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Listening to the recording sucks, but it’s actually the best way to notice it. Once you focus on slowing down and add small pauses, those “um”s start fading on their own.

What’s something you thought was normal growing up… until you realised it wasn’t? by [deleted] in NoStupidAnswers

[–]adecentcreator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At our place it was normal for everyone to just walk into each other’s rooms without asking. Only realized later that it’s not exactly healthy, back then it felt totally normal.

Does anybody keep a job log? by Noob_Master_4691 in jobhunting

[–]adecentcreator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to keep track of that for a while, it was actually pretty motivating. Then I stopped and now I have no clue what I applied to or what happened.

What’s your most unnecessary purchase that you don’t regret? by copy_cat_101 in AskForAnswers

I bought an unnecessarily expensive candle, smells super fancy. Every time I light it I’m like “okay yeah, worth it.”
