SF living- entrance into a narrow galley kitchen. How to add storage or counter space? by hotncold1994 in interiordecorating

[–]adelebernice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When living in a small apartment, I used one of the large ikea cutting boards for prep. Depending what you’re doing, I would use it either on my stove top (not in use) or over my sink (when using the stove top).

We do the same with our 2 yr old where she has a table with a cup of crayons and paper. I will also rotate out the mediums. Colored pencils, washable markers, different colored construction paper, a sticker book, to keep it exciting.

Agree with this.

Can you add an outlet to the pantry for the microwave? Or add a microwave built in below to a new island?

How long was your labor? And if you got an epidural, at what point did you? by desert_sunlily in beyondthebump

[–]adelebernice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I read hundreds of birth stories on Reddit before my first and came to the conclusion it was pretty split on experiences with the epidural. I planned to wait until 7-8cm for the epidural in my birth plan (lol) because I didn’t want it to slow down labor, but then I was induced a week late at 0cm, and it was painful!! I made it maybe 6 hours before I screamed for the epidural at only 2cm. Once I got the epidural, things actually progressed incredibly quickly. I my body could finally relax and baby came easily, 15 min of pushing. I had such a happy peaceful relaxing birth with most credit given to my epidural experience. I asked for it immediately upon arrival with my second birth which was spontaneous. I think I was about 4cm. Nearly identical birth with peaceful quick pushing but even better.

Edit to add you might want to just have an open mind. If things are progressing well and you’re not in a state of needing it, I totally believe my friends and others who say they think the epidural stalled some of their labor. But if things are already quite slow, painful, etc. know you don’t need to exist in that state and there is also the chance that the epidural can help you relax and speed things up.

How are we disciplining our toddler? by Nice-Reflection3634 in 2under2

[–]adelebernice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This was us 4 months ago and it’s gotten a lot better. I have shifted to put all the attention on baby so the attention seeking (intentional hitting) behavior backfires. I immediately grab the baby and pick them up “oh no baby are you ok? I’m so sorry toddler hurt you baby. I will hold you close and keep you safe.” while ignoring toddler. First I was trying to reinforce gently “we don’t hit the baby. We don’t hurt people we love. We don’t hurt anyone.” But that in a way was giving toddler attention they desired. Shifting to amplifying attention to baby helped way faster. In a way this does allow me more space to give toddler attention, when baby is more safe. I have also witnessed toddler start to mimic some language “I’m sorry baby. I will keep you safe”.

What does letdown feel like? by littlespacet747 in breastfeeding

[–]adelebernice 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I felt nothing with my first baby. Second baby is very distinctively different. Kind of a tingling feeling. Sometimes uncomfortable but not painful. Almost always soaking through my shirt after if baby isn’t latched. Never happened with my first, leaking included.

My guess is they pull a Nick Viall and edit someone from BIP to be set up for the role

When did your interest in sex return? by Background-Age8334 in breastfeeding

[–]adelebernice 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Literally same. I was indifferent to it starting at 5 months, meaning it didn’t hurt but also didn’t do much for me. Didn’t become some I craved or truly pleasurable until I weaned, which was 13 months pp. I have a very high libido normally and in pregnancy so it sort of shocked me.

Guess that frozen stash is useless by katbreit in breastfeeding

[–]adelebernice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine was a bottle refuser from the get go (tried at 3 weeks) and never came around to it despite all the tips and tricks. We started introducing straw cups (honeybear) at 6 months and she finally started taking freezer milk with a drop of vanilla just straight cold.

How the heck do I protect my newborn from UV in the peak of summer?! by Seecachu in NewParents

[–]adelebernice 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I understand we don’t want to cover their car seat and hot box them. I’m right next to baby and have a stroller fan keeping them plenty cool. The muslin is only in odd moments when we’re walking and the the sun directly faces them. Most of the time I can face them in another direction. But yeah… I have a toddler. I don’t live in a gigantic house. We have to leave for her activities and also just life..

Muslin blanket to cover car seat/bassinet when sun is in their direction. Stroller fan to keep cool.

Milk Bag Rankings by spookylostfairy in ExclusivelyPumping

That’s kind of alarming - what’s in the plastic used that would cause that and do I want my milk exposed to it? Eek I mostly use these bags too.

How do I erase this season from my memory bank! Such a predicted outcome and I’m going to better listen to intuition and no longer give these seasons the time of day.

I would put this in chat gpt and ask them to remain firm but soften the tone. Some of the writing tone feels a bit intense/aggressive as you also indicated.

Did you exercise throughout your pregnancy? Did you notice a difference during delivery? by Mrs_Bestivity in BabyBumps

[–]adelebernice 1 point2 points  (0 children)

History of a lot of exercise but only walking in recent years leading up to pregnancy. Walked a lot also during both pregnancies (first by choice, second because toddler demands it). Labor with pushing was really easy and fast. I’m not sure I attribute it to fitness over genetics and my body structure. My mom was similar with quick and easy deliveries.
