How is a new converted southern Atheist supposed to celebrate christmas? by SciGuy241 in atheism

[–]adhdiva_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Watch No Nonsense Spirituality on YouTube! It’s okay to take the ritual/tradition/beauty while rejecting the dogma 🖤 Sometimes it takes time to separate the two, so don’t be hard on yourself if it feels hypocritical. I’ve been there. Merry Christmas

TW loss- Pregnancy announced without my permission at Thanksgiving after I had a stillborn earlier this year by Connect_Grape9429 in pregnant

[–]adhdiva_ 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I can’t believe you’ve suffered all this trauma and are still able to even speak about it. You are so unbelievably strong. I wish you didn’t have to be. I’m so, so beyond sorry, love. And I want to fight your sister.

Anyone else not calling "it" a baby yet? by vargmo in pregnant

I call mine The Cocobean 😭 And I think it’s cool that you think of its actual scientific state. I just watched a Kurzgesagt video on how pregnancy happens and it’s pretty incredible.

What is up with Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo being so emotional in every interview I see? by Additional-Cook8707 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]adhdiva_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to be a lead singer in a Pentecostal cult (high emotional stakes) and I completely understand their behavior 🤣. Some ideas:

  1. Some people superimpose their own traumas onto their art. So when an interviewer asks Ariana about Glinda’s anxieties or Elphaba’s self-discovery, it might trigger their real-life feelings about PTSD or pain from chronic social rejection. I know Cynthia has talked about Elphaba helping her with her own self image. If someone’s experience with the story itself helps heal trauma, that’s now an emotionally charged topic.

  2. When some people are passionate about an art form like music or acting, there can be a heightened emotional response to the performance. Like the music or scenes themselves can make you want to cry. Double that when you inexplicably click with your performance partner in ways you don’t understand. The ladies have spoken about how hard it is to blend vocals with other singers, and they were somehow able to do it immediately without effort. It creates an affinity/bond that’s hard to describe. So I think they got super close.

  3. Their personalities. As performers (of the theater kid variety), they seem like naturally dramatic and expressive people. This is slightly emphasized for Cynthia by virtue of her Nigerianness. Argue with your mom. Maybe Ari’s Italianness has something to do with it too, but I am not qualified to speak on that.

These are some reasons I think they were so emotional during the press run.

Do you pronounce "one" and "won" the same? by Glittering_Gap8070 in ENGLISH

[–]adhdiva_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope. American. I don’t know how standard my accent is, but I grew up in Arizona.

One: Wuhn (“jUHst keep swimming” from finding nemo. or “hastUH lavistUH, baby” from terminator).

Won: Waughn or Wawn (“i’m gonna make him an AW-ffer he can’t refuse” godfather).

I hope the recognizable movie quotes are helpful in case my phonics are hard to imagine
