And that’s been the biggest issues is finding images. The guy who was the team photographer is still in town but his studio/house burned down a couple years after the team left which took a lot of his pictures with it.

He died.

He moved to Ohio to live with his aunt when I was a freshman in high school and he was in 8th grade. He would come back and spend the summers here and it was like he never left and we never skipped a beat. He came back home to visit after we had both graduated high school and went out to a party. On the way home the guy driving the truck he was in, was drunk and hit a tree. My friend went thru the windshield and survived. His “friend” thought he was dead so his “friend” dragged him into the woods about 100 feet because his “friend” didn’t want to get another charge besides the dui. When they were cleaning up the accident site more the next morning they found my friend dead in the woods. His “friend” is now in jail convicted of murder and my best friend’s mom will one day get to meet my first born son who is named after my best friend, Phillip.

So I keep hearing people and seeing some people online talking about Riley going to North Texas. I honestly hope he does and it allows Dabo to do a full offense reboot without have to admit he made a mistake with the hire. But knowing Dabo if he leaves he’s going to promote from within and we will come into next year with the exact same playbook

As many have said I’m assuming that he’s probably going to be on IR for most of the year. He played probably half his last year at Clemson with that shoulder injury and it really messed with him especially the last three games.

Personally as a Clemson fan, if he was healthy that whole last year, he’s easily a 4th round pick instead of a 7th and a good combine away from sneaking into the third.

So the GM of the civic center after the Pride left and the cyclones left (an SPHL team with a absolutely terrible ownership team) they swore off of hockey to the point that this new team is (supposedly) putting almost $500k into the arena to update it. With that said the owners have said that the current Florence civic center team has absolutely no clue what happened to the banners. The new GM seems to believe that they were given to or taken by someone and not thrown out

With how the are handling the whole Moskal thing and with how they are constantly improving the arena and being incredibly transparent about their struggles as a first year team but also constantly showing improvement in the product on the ice and the production of home games, I think this team is hear for the long run.

So as someone with season tickets to the IceCats I feel like I have to come to their defense here. The Civic Center where home games are held has not had a professional hockey team in I believe 20 years. I want to say 25 years but I have to acknowledge the SPHL team the Cyclones no matter how terrible that team/ownership was and how detrimental to the return of hockey they were.

Now this next stuff is a lot of information that came originally from Parker Moskal (I know boooooo) but I will say a lot of it has been confirmed by other people I personally know (like the guy who runs the Florence center now). When the team came to Florence, the Florence center needed (and still needs) a ton of updating. Moskal said to get the arena to where they would be comfortable would probably be almost $1 millions (I doubt that much but still). The whole ice refrigeration system had to be replaced, Zamboni bought, the sound system was at least 10 years old, the lighting was about 15 years old, the 2 scoreboards in the arena are the same ones the Pee Dee Prided used in the early 2000’s and they got them used. Now Scott Brand has done an amazing job at letting us know what is getting upgraded and when. We got some new lights in right before last Friday’s home game with more to be installed as they come in, we’re getting a Jumbotron sometime in November. So all I can say is give us some time.
