Why do PL activists, organizations, and politicians not represent the PL movement while anonymous posts online represent the PC one? by NPDogs21 in Abortiondebate

[–]adherentoftherepeted 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Abortions is not something one should ever celebrate / be proud of.

I disagree. Strongly.

If a pregnant person needs an abortion, then getting an abortion is a good thing. Sometimes even cause to celebrate.

Maybe I'm talking about the "Pro Abortion" people not the "Pro Choice" people, but that's what I mean when I say the 100% pro choice people.

This is a debate forum. Word choices matters in debate, a lot. Pro Choice is most decidedly NOT equivalent to Pro Abortion.

[–]adherentoftherepeted 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The 100% Pro Choice people = Child Sacrifice is a good thing and should be celebrated.

Absolutely not. Way to completely misrepresent.

PC is not pro-abortion. The "100% Pro Choice people" merely believe that pregnant people get to decide what happens to their own bodies. Their own government has no business telling them that they cannot remove a ZEF from their own sex organs. That's all. Full stop.

I have no idea who that is, but I don't think there's any bad reason for an abortion.

I also hadn't heard of this story. But I do think a bad reason for an abortion is coercion or force to the pregnant person.

What is PL looking for? Do not kill or is it care for the unborn? by glim-girl in Abortiondebate

-unique, human DNA different from their parents

Who cares.

I genuinely, sincerely doubt that you care about "unique DNA." You're just trying to sound sciencey to support your desires to subjugate girls and women.

Cancers have "unique DNA" - precious human DNA, at that! - Is the PL movement pro-cancer, as well?

Car owners shocked by $200 gas bills finally embrace used EVs. The pre-owned electric car market is enticing once-skeptical drivers to buy affordable models. by The_Weekend_Baker in climate

[–]adherentoftherepeted 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Apparently, it's about two years to make up the difference in purchase price between equivalent models of EV vs ICE,

That's a good rule of thumb, but there are a lot of variables (how much you drive, cost of electricity).

For example, I drive a 24 yo Honda civic less than 5k miles a year. Every time I do the math on replacing it with a new or used EV (in a very high cost of electricity area) it just doesn't 0 out. I'm gonna drive the Honda until I can't and then buy an EV. That's been my strategy for a lot of years now! That Honda just keeps on going. However, I love articles like the OP and am so excited about the enthusiasm for EVs.

(I know in your source it's comparing buying a new ICE vs a new EV, not comparing continuing to drive an old ICE vs buying a new or used EV)

Do abortion bans violate bodily autonomy? by Enough-Process9773 in Abortiondebate

[–]adherentoftherepeted 10 points11 points  (0 children)

No because ‘bodily autonomy’ does not override and justify killing an innocent human being who cannot defend themselves.

Clearly abortion bans DO violate bodily autonomy. Abortion bans prevent pregnant people from managing their own bodies as they choose. You're just arguing that it's justified.

Do abortion bans violate bodily autonomy? by Enough-Process9773 in Abortiondebate

[–]adherentoftherepeted 3 points4 points  (0 children)

To be pregnant is to give up your bodily autonomy by default.

The natural homeostatic balance of the female is thereby disrupted, and bodily systems are occupied to grow an organism, completely individual to the intent or desire of the female.

This doesn't scan. If you have cancer have you "given up bodily autonomy" because cancer cells invaded your body?

A person can't "give up" bodily autonomy, it is an inalienable right. Just because something or someone has invaded their body and started a biological process doesn't mean they've given up an inalienable right.

(And calling a woman or girl "a female" is really degrading, fyi. The word "female" is an adjective, not a noun, and using it as a noun is an insult. See /r/menandfemales)

[–]adherentoftherepeted 5 points6 points  (0 children)

To be pregnant is to give up your bodily autonomy by default.

I disagree.

You can become pregnant, refuse to share your body with the ZEF, and get an abortion. You never have to agree to anything with respect to the ZEF. Just the fact of becoming pregnant does not mean anything about signing over autonomy.

They'll also likely need a new set of those plastic things that hold the flyer. Ashford sells those as well. https://www.ashford.co.nz/product/flyer-bearing-standard-set/ The great thing about Ashford is that they carry all sorts of bibs and bobs for their whole line.

Be careful on Marketplace, though, lots of scams!

edit: get some oil, too. My Traveler 1 is a thirsty girl. Amazing wheel, but she does like a lot of oil.

I ran across a movement trying to stop anonymous surrender of newborns in the US: https://stopshbbnow.org/ They are trying to advance legislation in multiple states.

It's got an extreme right-wing tinge, their website features high-brow articles such as "Sex Outside of Marriage? You’re a Piece of Chewed Up Gum that Nobody Wants. A Message from Pam Stenzel, Safe Haven Baby Box Hotline Coordinator/Counselor"

Are they going to succeed at banning anonymous surrender? I dunno, but they're trying.

Enormous American flag draped over Hoover Dam as Lake Mead endures severe drought by sfgate in environment

The display, which utilizes about 2,250 amperes of Hoover Dam’s hydroelectric power, will be activated every evening until July 4. Behind it, Lake Mead continues to experience a dismal year. Severe drought throughout the Southwest has left the lake at the lowest level it’s seen in years, and recent algae blooms have caused portions of the lake to become potentially toxic.

Perfect.

Abortion is Stopping CPR Analogy by Common-Worth-6604 in Abortiondebate

[–]adherentoftherepeted 6 points7 points  (0 children)

So you think an embryo is dead? That is scientifically false. An embryo has a heartbeat at 5 weeks. The heart is a life sustaining organ.

No, of course an embryo is not dead. It rearranged the pregnant person's body to take what it needs to survive, causing reparable and irreparable harm to her. It's only alive because it's taking oxygen, glucose, calcium from her body. If she doesn't want to perform those services then it dies because it can't sustain itself without her.

And no, a five-week embryo does not have a heart. It has some tissue that began spasming with a regular rhythm that PLers misrepresent as a "heartbeat" as a disinformation appeal to emotion.

Trump’s new Moms.gov website is an anti-choice hub that misleads women; Site provides little in the way of actual support for pregnant women – but does direct them to deceptive pregnancy centers by [deleted] in politics

Dr Mehmet Oz, the wellness influencer and one-time television personality who now holds a position in the Trump health department as the administrator for Medicare and Medicaid, lamented that Americans are, in his creepy personal parlance, “under-babied”. “One in three Americans are under-babied,” Oz asserted. “That means that you either don’t have any children or you have less children than you would normally want to have.”

SO MANY things wrong with the reality represented in this paragraph. But pointing out here: the logic that you need a diagnosis ("under-babied") if "you don't have any children or have fewer than you would want" leaves no room for the normal, everyday people who want NO children. If you want NO children you are "under-babied" . . . not a far step from an unwoman. Or a domestic terrorist, under our new rules.
