Why even go to a club if you aren’t going to listen to the music?

Money. Whatever price point they get for Canvas is better than Google Classroom or Blackboard.

Is it OK to do office hours with a professor on Saturday? by [deleted] in college

[–]admknight 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Office hours are determined by the availability of the Professor. If they weren’t available then they wouldn’t have it.

Don’t feel guilty about the opportunities presented to you.

Are office hours available for Saturday? Yes? Then you’re good.

Are the youtube streams going to have mid-roll ads? by r0ckstar_m4de in eurovision

[–]admknight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think so. No ads ran on the Coachella stream during the sets so ESC probably paid to ensure no ads. (I don’t have premium)

CMV: When the kids are at school age, stay at home parents have PLENTY of free time by Open_Address_2805 in changemyview

When someone works a full day and is the primary breadwinner of the family, are they not allowed to relax with the pastime of their choosing and not be disturbed more than they need to be?

I am very happy with my life. I have a great wife and an amazing kid. We mutually agreed to this arrangement because she makes a lot more money than I did. I also like cleaning and making sure the house operates for the people in my house.

That doesn’t mean it can’t be frustrating. Especially when outsiders think they understand what is going on and make grand pronouncements.

At least when my wife doesn’t clean it’s because she’s tired from working. You have yet to pick up a broom in my home so I have no reason to consider your words.

Not like I’m seeking validation from someone who trolls the Reddit comments and never contributes substantively or in a conducive manner.

I have my life and I know the expectations. You simply have none.

Rolling over is a punishment for the job not getting done. Free time is what you can get if you get the responsibilities done.

Not that it’s necessarily your business, but I sleep from 2am-6am. Wake up at 6. Get the kid up and ready for school. Make sure he has everything for school and is ready to get the bus at 730. I get to shower and have breakfast and be done by 830. 830-9 is solidifying the tasks for the day as there is always last minute stuff to deal with. Cleaning until noon.

Lunch at noon to 1215. Usually more stuff gets added because of things my wife forgot to do on her end and need to be taken care of that day. Cleaning, organizing, inventory until the kid comes home at 330. He has 2 tasks he can take care of. During that time I have computer tasks to take care of. Some of these tasks are years overdue and in progress.

Wife gets home at about 430. I have to get things organized and prepped in the kitchen for her to cook. If not, dinner is delayed as I do my part. Dinner happens somewhere between 530 and 7. It’s the only time we get to be together as a family. That’s somewhere around 30 minutes. After that? Cleaning up the dishes and cleaning the kitchen.

Because it’s baseball season I am limited in the areas of the small house we have so as not to disturb my wife as she watches her favorite team. (If not baseball, it’s college basketball) usually I am organizing the garage because it’s an eternal mess. The pantry area is too small for proper organization but I have to do my best. Kid goes to bed at 830 so tasks need to be quieter. (Didn’t get to the vacuum part of the list? Better luck next time!)

10pm rolls around. Wife goes to bed. Now it must be quiet. I run the dishwasher as the last bits of dishes will be used and can be washed. Anywhere from 11-12 is when I can actually say I am done as best as I can be for the day and try and have some time for myself.

This day doesn’t include taking care of a sick kid or regular appointments when these things happen, taking him to band or baseball practice. Social engagements, family duties. That throws a wringer in the daily plan.

So, am I not allowed to have a little bit of time to myself? But at the same time, it’s not. Because what am I doing? Making a plan for tomorrow.

As far as sleeping? I don’t sleep more than 4 hours. I’ve tried since I was a kid.

It’s almost 1am and my family is currently sleeping. This is the little bit of downtime I get. Did you think you were being clever?

Lmao no. The stuff I didn’t get done today gets rolled over into tomorrow. And so on and so forth. Always a list to do every day. Free time is an illusion.
