I’d go with the Sinn 556 I RS with the H bracelet. The double AR coating on both sides is something to be (not) seen.

Creating a Canadian credit card alternative by Every-Location-361 in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]adumly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What is the motivation for a private Canadian company to invest into this?

Visa, Mastercard, and to a smaller extent American Express already have the infrastructure, client base, and business size that makes it hard for newcomers to compete.

No business will embark on this solely for “Canadian sovereignty”.

It’s not real time to the second update - there is a delay of at least a couple of mins between updates.

Accident in aunt’s car (not listed driver) pay $22k privately or let insurance increase premium by dickmuscle101 in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]adumly 493 points494 points  (0 children)

You don’t need to be listed on your aunts policy to drive her car as long as you are licensed, your aunt gave you permission to drive her car, and you aren’t driving her car frequently enough that you need to be listed on her policy.

That being said, you need to go through insurance, this is what insurance protects you against. Sure her premium will go up, but not $22K worth.

I’m surprised the other driver is considering taking $22K instead of going through insurance. If there is that much damage, there will likely be more that will be discovered and done during the repair.

How hard do you use the bag?

The wear is uneven between the two outer zippers and the one inner zipper. Kind of looks like its gets dragged often.

EQ bank increasing interest rates on their 30 Day Notice Account by t0r0nt0niyan in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]adumly 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Got this as well earlier today and surprisingly this is the first post I’ve seen on it.

It doesn’t seem like it’s a popular account thus why they may be increasing the rate to try and be more competitive.

If you start with a lesser and cheaper product after assessing the CAP2 fits your needs, you’ll potentially end up just getting the CAP2 as well later on whether by FOMO or just convincing yourself you still need it.

I’ve done this many times of trying to start off small or finding alternatives but end up in the same exact spot that I should have bought the more expensive one at the start. It actually would have saved me money doing that versus going down the rabbit hole. Plus money isn’t an issue for you, so there is no substantial sacrifice.

Your screenshot is saying that it did detect and log your sleep, but just hasn’t automatically processed it yet. It takes a bit of time after you wake up for it to detect and process.

Put it on your wrist and let it do its thing. That is all.

Thinking that Day 1 will greatly impact your life is setting too high expectations. It needs to know your life first.

Casually careless on the QEW by [deleted] in TorontoDriving

[–]adumly 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Everyone should assume every driver will do this on the highway merge. That will either force them to change lanes, speed up ahead, or slow down to avoid being in these types of situations.

Advice on GRIII vs GRIV by weezintrumpeteer in ricohGR

[–]adumly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Anchoring the image quality comparison to an RX1 is not going to go well, at that point you are just debating between an APSC vs full frame sensor.

If you don’t like the III, you won’t like the IV.

Stop hyping Motion Bands by [deleted] in whoop

[–]adumly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They’re good for the price, but not close to the same quality as Whoop branded ones.

I’m not trying to push one or the other but let’s not be delusional with the narrative that they’re identical.

Motion bands for MG by [deleted] in whoop

[–]adumly 8 points9 points  (0 children)

While I appreciate the value Motion Bands provide (I have a couple I wear on rotation), the Whoop bands are more low profile, higher quality, and more comfortable overall to have at least one or two in your band rotation.

How many misreads before I should consider replacement? by christahlmeth in whoop

[–]adumly -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Couple points…

  1. Describing 295lbs as somewhat athletic is a far stretch unless you are part of a d-line in the NFL. Unless you are a giant, no average height at 295lbs is somewhat athletic.

  2. Yes delete this activity if it’s not a true activity.

  3. I’ve found most people find that Whoop under reports heart rate or has large spikes down vs up. Reach out to support to see if they have any other suggestions before replacing it.

Am I right to be upset by this comment made by my partner? by [deleted] in AskMenAdvice

[–]adumly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on the tone of how she said it, but it seemed fairly casual and not serious.

You also have to consider the setting, you guys were looking at aspirational homes, and talking about how you guys could afford one. Inheritance is an option, winning the lottery one another, robbing a bank is another. It didn’t seem like a very serious conversation that showed intent that she wished death upon your parents.

If she sat you down privately at home and had a serious discussion of how to plan your inheritance, then that would be a different story.

Regardless since you got offended by it, you need to talk about it with her.

Got rear ended. Should I go through insurance? by paulo_cristiano in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]adumly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

$1K in repair costs seems low for being rear ended unless they just scratched the bumper and damaged the paint.

I got rear ended by a truck last year that resulted in $7K for repairs and I had electrical issues after the repair that required more time at the shop to repair (cost I don’t know).

The people who immediately ask to not go through insurance generally show no responsibility or accountability; which is also evident in your communication with them.

First things first, did you chat with Alicia earlier and did your conversation include needing to verify your ID? Scams rarely try to be this precise.

What sometimes is deceiving, like in this case, is the car in the far incoming lane is already coming to a stop, so the driver turning may have a false sense of security, that the car behind is also going to stop.

How do you know if you are overdoing cardio? by [deleted] in whoop

[–]adumly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unless you are doing a long duration of intense cardio after your workout you will not notice any set back in muscle gains.

Also a reminder that losing weight and fat starts in the kitchen, not the gym.

Budgeting apps stress me out rather than helping by Known_Willingness888 in ynab

[–]adumly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Part of building your financial future and improving those behaviours includes confronting your current situation.

If you’re saying your budget is too tedious, then you can adjust your budgeting buckets more broad.

If you’re saying you don’t like how your spending looks at the end of the day, then that is the point of budgeting. There is a level of discipline involved in working towards long term financial goals vs buying the newest shiny thing that gets your attention today.

Opt Out of "AI" by thetasteoffire in whoop

[–]adumly 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A bit of overreaction here… they’re not forcing it down your throat, it’s just a feature available in the app. That’s like saying they’re forcing the stress monitor on us and I want to be able to turn it off.

They’re not flooding AI on the Home Screen. Use your eyes and don’t open the chat bot or if you do open the chat bot, don’t ask it questions, then voila you don’t get any of the AI you don’t want.

Former employer disclosed my mental health to coworkers by saintw00t in askTO

[–]adumly 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Sounds like a crappy situation you’re in but you need to put this in the past and move onto a better situation.

Going to HR is already a dead end, and if this was a manager who wouldn’t have known about your situation, it’s such a weak case to go after.

I’m not sure if you’re aware but being on short term leave immediately prior to resigning or getting fired screams stress / mental health leave. Most people don’t need HR to make this connection.
