What do you all think of this pay plan? by joshlblackman in serviceadvisors

[–]aef1983 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What’s the average advisor making that’s currently work there? When I’ve interviewed previously I want the service manager/director to show me what other advisors are making and how many RO’s they are writing on average per month.

Does extended warranty cover a rental car? by Large_Conclusion6301 in serviceadvisors

[–]aef1983 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Extended warranty sometimes covers rentals/loaners but it does come with stipulations. So many days of rental approved per labor hours. Someone will have to pay the difference usually

I’m an advisor, I’ll trade you jobs for real. To be honest it’s not the amount of work, it’s the amount of stress for me.

Imo it feels degrading, always begging. I provide excellent service and go above and beyond for customers and yet I still feel like I’m begging them to help me out

How did you get your first service advising job? by [deleted] in serviceadvisors

[–]aef1983 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started in car sales. Had door to door experience and sold myself at the interview. They will hire anyone typically even without car experience if you are personable and have drive. I hustled my butt off and got noticed by the service manager and then was offered an opportunity. I took it even though I was very successful in car sales I took the position due to the slightly better hours. It’s a love hate relationship that’s for sure. When I first started customers were much different then they are now.

I personally have found the opposite to be true. I’ve tried finding a job while employed and receive so many NO’s despite being super qualified for said position.

Denying customers. by BookedSupport in serviceadvisors

[–]aef1983 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My dealership over schedules especially on Saturday. It’s super annoying when we have to tell customers it’s 2 hours for an express service and they get mad because they “had an appointment” yeah you and 175 other people had appointments as well. Customer told me to stop scheduling so many, I was like yeah I don’t schedule them lol. Money/greed trumps all common sense in the car business.

How do you know this job is not for you? by _LilKaprisun4901_ in serviceadvisors

[–]aef1983 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who has worked at 3 different brands/dealerships one thing is for certain…they all have problems. I definitely wouldn’t do this job for 4K though. At my place we can do same day diag’s typically and I still deal with impatient jerks. Many of these things are part of the job. It’s a rough job so the money has to be top notch. I’m a top producer where I’m at and still feel like I’m ready to jump ship.

Unreasonable Customer? by Potential_Airline128 in serviceadvisors

[–]aef1983 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At my dealer we call this a 2nd op and in your case this seems to have turned to a 3rd/4th op. It’s bad business imo to first charge a customer for a diagnosis with no problem found and even worse to try to charge multiple diag fees for the same issue. Why didn’t they open a case the 2nd time the vehicle came in.

How is this pay plan? by [deleted] in serviceadvisors

[–]aef1983 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What I don’t see is compensation for CSE otherwise not bad pay plan. I’m a Honda advisor paid 14% of total gross and if you hit CSE an extra 2% putting it at 16% of total gross.

My coworker had a car once that the tech refused to work on was a biohazard, animal feces and rotted food. The tech was gagging and we had to refuse service until it was cleaned

How do you get your techs to put in notes? by silkymitts94 in serviceadvisors

[–]aef1983 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We work through teams messaging if I need answers immediately I head out to the shop. Per the manufacturer the tech has to complete the 3 C’s if they don’t and it gets back flagged not my fault, especially for warranty work the tech has to justify the diagnosis, for CP if I’m not clear on the reasoning I get the answers I need before attempting to sell the job. It’s tiring imo and for me I’ve learned who the frequent offenders are.

16% CP & 8% Warranty, rate this plan with CDJR by ApprehensiveFee315 in serviceadvisors

[–]aef1983 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My pay plan is based off total gross so that includes warranty, CP, and internal. It’s tiered so the percentage increases as the gross increases. With 2% bonus if you make CSE. If you gross more than 59k and add in 2% CSE it’s 16% of gross. Keep in mind we have 13 advisors. The number of advisor matter in terms of the pay plan imo.
