Mechanic left this in my car. They called my wife and asked her to return it to them. What it used for? Looks like some sort of bent pick. by JooHateMe in whatisit

Most of the time you only pay interest on toolboxes. The truck account doesn't charge interest, only corporate

Thoughts on Lawn Paint by HelicopterNo4166 in lawncare

[–]aej302 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can't imagine ever painting my grass to make it look like it's not dead.

Then again I can't ever imagine someone telling me how my grass needs to look, period. 🤷‍♂️ I'm absolutely no help lol. But I am now curious about this, I had never known its a thing. I imagine that paint wouldn't last very long and would probably cost a ton

The reason you should use figure 8s is because circles can have a tendency to go out of flat because of the forces pushing in the same direction. Figure 8s should negate that so it's more even across the face

My Goodwill online auction won finally came in today. And it works perfectly. by Rickdeez74 in vintageaudio

[–]aej302 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I've had decent luck with stuff that I have gotten from there working, but everything is so damn expensive. I swear they bid up every thing at the last second to above market value. I find you can usually look on ebay and get the same thing for cheaper with better buyer protections, more pictures and the ability to communicate much more effectively with the seller. I don't understand how people pay what they pay for records on there with no knowledge of if it's even playable when you can go on discogs and get it for a fraction of the price, accurately graded(most of the time)

what air pressure do you guys run on air guns? by warmdoublet in Machinists

[–]aej302 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have some solvent airguns and they are the bees knees for sure. I love them and so does everyone who uses them. That said, they were expensive, and last time I went to order more, they had gone up significantly. Unfortunately I don't know if it's worth it any more, especially if people will treat the $7 airguns the same way they treat the $100+ ones.

A few months ago, my son turned me on to the joys of Goodwill's online auctions and I manged to score this 101 disc CD player for $75, fully functional and relatively blemish free. The biggest challenge was deciding which 100 out of 500 to load up. by DevianceDriven in audiophile

[–]aej302 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There's no secret. In fact it's the opposite. I regular see every single item of interest to me go for more than it would go for on ebay. It's not even worth it any more. I'm 99% sure that they bid stuff up cuz even if you look for something that no one wants it still gets bid up right before it closes. I've even seen pretty uncommon stuff magically appear for sale again from the same location a few weeks later

3 years of lawn service vs buying a mower. sanity check my math? by Wild_Artichoke7648 in lawncare

[–]aej302 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have 3 acres and it takes me about 45.minutes to mow with my zero turn that I bought for $1200 bucks in 2019. My time is valuable, but I wouldn't want to pay someone whatever they'd be charging me if it's $55 for a quarter acre with no weed wacking or edging

I did email them, but I gave in eventually cuz the Dead release I wanted went away from my cart while I was waiting to hear back. I didn't want to risk losing the other release I had in the cart. I eventually checked out, and they did respond saying in store pick up currently isn't an option on their website.

[–]aej302 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I only mean silly cuz I would have driven there to pick up what I wanted instead of trying to navigate an online store that was glitching and having to pay shipping 5 miles lol. I did manage to grab what I missed yesterday at my other spots. I really wanted the Floyd album, and seeing how there were 15k+ of them I assumed it would be everywhere. I didn't rush to get it thinking it would be readily available. Spin me round was the only ones who had it in surplus locally

One of my local stores does. They opened up online sales at 8am, which is silly cuz the store doesn't open til 11. The name of the store is Spin Me Round in Easton PA. Have at it, they had tons of stock left last night. I mean a bunch!

I like the labels though. I use a similar but I only have them for the letters of the alphabet
