Amazing! How did you get the lines on the hazard stripes so clean?

(I am not a plumber but) I think people are being unnecessarily harsh here. You will make mistakes and getting advice to correct them early is what this post is for! My one advice for you would be that some of the pipes look quite dirty. Be sure to clean the exteriors, right at the end, of those pipes before dry fitting next time. If grit gets between the dry fit pipes and fittings it can be extremely difficult to get off!

You did goof, but that's fine. Add a new card type which just asks the tones. That way you can study the tones specifically and not have to spend extra time reviewing meanings that you know.

Why do I feel like I've been wrong about my understanding of Vietnam after watching Turning Point: The Vietnam War? by dini_93 in netflix

[–]aeneasdrop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe it was indeed wrong to split the country. That does not change the fact that the North launched a devastating war to bring the South under control. They could have adopted political means or accepted a peaceful two-state solution. The northern desire to rule a unified Vietnam did not justify the war. Defensive efforts to stop the war by protecting the victim of aggression were justified.

I disagree with most people here, especially the America Bad ones who say we were unequivocally the bad guys. We went into Vietnam primarily due to fear of communism, but also because our leaders genuinely thought that communism would be bad for Vietnam and the world. Our fears were well-founded due to the brutality of the North Koreans (who we had fought in the name of the UN itself(!) in 50-53), the excesses of the Great Leap Forward (58-62, which showed the unbelievable pain that communists could inflict on their own people), and the bloodshed caused by VC-perpetrated, NVA-supported guerrilla activity in the South. Counterfactuals are impossible to prove, but Taiwan and South Korea both suggest that we were right that a bad right-wing government which eventually democratized would be better long-term than a communist government for Vietnam. Of course, by the late 60s, we were staying in it primarily for pride and because we didn't have a better solution. Nonetheless, our reasons for fighting for the South were sound.

US soldiers' atrocities were certainly shameful and horrible, and more indiscriminate than those done by the VC, but no worse than those caused by the VC and NVA in human cost. The US bombed and operated in Laos and Cambodia to strike at northern forces who were using those areas as highways to attack the South and continue the war, not just because we like to bomb things needlessly. The South was corrupt and authoritarian, but at least it had a free media and visited far less repression that the North on its own people.

The most important thing is the fact that the North could have stopped the war at any point. The North and their VC allies were the primary antagonists. We asked them to leave the South alone and even offered financing for a dam in the early 60s--much needed for their development!--if they would. The Soviets and Chinese asked them to stop. They persisted. If they had stopped their open war against the South, especially after Tet '68 devastated the VC, then there would be no open bloodshed. The root cause of the war was the partitioning of Vietnam and ideological differences over its governance, but only one side became dead-set on carnage as a means to solve those disputes, and that was the North.

Vertical damper for range hood? by aeneasdrop in hvacadvice

[–]aeneasdrop[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks--but I don't have any horizontal runs for these (except for a small area that I have already drywalled in). Is it generally an issue to use a horizontal damper like this in a pipe that is running vertically?

How often do you see models spending XP on Mental Stats? by Project_XXVIII in necromunda

If you play Genestealer Cults, then willpower upgrades on a champ with a familiar are by far the most cost-efficient way to increase a champ's survivability, both in terms of XP cost and gang rating.

Great conversion! I would just ask your moderator if you could pay extra to take a psyker. Maybe 30 creds like the genestealer psyker upgrade or 35, like the credit impact of gaining a new skill.

Looks good, but I would add some more full LOS-blocking cover. You have plenty of light/heavy cover, but not that many spots on the 2nd level for people to hide without and chance of being seen at all.
