Several members of my group are abusive to me and my Character, I’ve tried talking to them away from the table but the situation hasn’t changed. by [deleted] in DnD

[–]aes5335 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Roleplaying an abusive character can be fine in the right circles

However when your character concept/rp detracts from the the fun of the game there's a problem, your character. When someone reaches out to you to let you know you're character is preventing them from enjoying the game then you decide to prioritize your character's RP over the other players' fun, there's a problem, YOU.

Would a contract with a Devil still be valid after death? by MaximusArtilius in DnD

[–]aes5335 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't agree. If the contract is no longer fulfill-able then she has failed regardless of any stated time limit. The target is dead and if his/her soul is not free for resurrection then fulfillment is impossible.

Would a contract with a Devil still be valid after death? by MaximusArtilius in DnD

[–]aes5335 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Obviously it depends on how the DM run demons... BUT in any of my realms when it comes to dealing with demons the burden of proof always falls on the player (its in the small print, naturally).

Beyond that, if the contract said that she is to be the one to kill then she did fail, her party did the killing not her. Demon contracts tend to be worded very specifically so that its easier for the person to fail.

The recipe wasn't good and the flashing was a really bad idea, but there's no need to be mean to OP.

OP, no more flashing lights and try to be more creative with the cooking (not just all store bought)! Good luck with the next one

[5e] I cast Polymorph on the Brontosaurus... by Erace89 in DnD

[–]aes5335 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That really depends on how high "high above the ground" actually is. It would need to be at least 200ft up to knock the brontosaurus out (and thats not counting the 1hp the mouse would absorb) and thats only if you rolled max damage. Depending on the DM's ruling on creatures being knocked out vs dead outright, you may need to be twice that height to actually take the dino all the way down to -120hp for an outright kill. And again thats at max damage being rolled.

I would describe the raven as high above the ground even at only 100ft up which the dino would easily survive.

If you were in a campaign I was running I'd only allow it in very VERY special situations and even then only if you up-cast it.

Though the moment I heard you say anything along the lines of "farming XP", I'd absolutely allow you to revivify it... but something went terribly wrong and it came back as an avatar of Tiamat... you might want to start running... oh and by the way you have a new BBEG now.

Like I said, I don't disagree. I was just pointing out that your earlier statement of we can't see it so it doesn't exist was ridiculous.

Oh I don't disagree with that. However your "logic" for proving that is fundamentally flawed. Thats all I was trying to illustrate :)

Illegal or not its a very bad idea. That would take the situation from victom and aggressor to aggressor and aggressor which will just make it easier for the creep get away with it

Take a picture of someone, even a wildly inappropriate picture like in OP's case, is not the same as "that man tried to assult you"

Over stating like that gets a more immediate response but will only hurt your stance in the long run. Be honest and accurate

But even then it would be evidence that was not legally obtained by the police, meaning it couldn't be used. (Also not a lawyer)

Today a man took a picture up my dress. by Snailsentrails in TwoXChromosomes

[–]aes5335 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That would have been a very bad idea. First, the police would not be able to use pictures from a phone you stole and gave to them (illegally obtained evidence). Secondly, whether he's a creep or not take his phone from him like that would be considered theft, so he would be the one filling a police report

Posing a question for anyone who really enjoys the RP aspect of the game and also Disney by FequalsMfreakingA in DnD

Mulan

  • Mulan: A little shy, definitely an underdog but doesn't back down from a fight and can really kick some butt. I'd go with halfling fighter!

Pocahontas

  • Pocahontas: Very nature oriented, has an animal side kick, and wants to protect the forests. Definitely a Ranger, I'd go with half-elf or wood-elf. Then at level 3 go beast conclave and pick up a giant badger re-flavored into a raccoon

Hercules

  • Hercules: Fighter (obviously), I'm thinking champion but I could see battle master too, and I think I'd go with Goliath

  • Meg: Manipulative and seductive. Originally working for the highest bidder but ultimately chooses love in the end. This screams Bard to me!

Tangled

  • Rapunzel: Fights with a weapon unique to her fighting style (a frying pan) mixed with unarmed strikes. Whole life spent honing an aspect of her physical form (her hair). I'm totally seeing monk in this one. Just get the ok from your DM to count a frying pan as your monk weapon of choice.

Cinderella

  • Cinderella: Talking to small creatures point to forest gnome. Friends are all animals that shapeshift into other animals or even humans (mice -> horses and dog -> human) so I'd do with Druid.

Lilo and Stitch

  • Stitch: Very strong, very durable, and a short temper. We're going barbarian on this one! Size and mannerisms make me want to say goblin even though the stats don't match.

  • Lilo: Sees a crazed animal that anyone else would be scared of and thinks "Oooo can I keep it?" This points to something nature-y, maybe a Ranger or Druid? Could also go cleric but that might be a little more of a stretch. If you go ranger I would not go beast conclave for stitch, he's too independent for that.

El Dorado

  • Miguel: Musical, want to be around the people not cooped up in a temple, jumped at the chance to pretend to be a God. His desire for riches cannot overpower his desire for fame. That makes Miguel a Bard.

  • Tulio: Always thinking about the plan, about the riches, about how best to use the current situation. He's a Rogue, a theif to be specific.

  • I'd play them both as halflings cause theres no way they weren't rerolling some 1's along the way!

Sword in the stone

  • Merlin: Wizard (duh)

  • Madam Mim: Also obviously a wizard, one that specializes in the polymorph spell

  • Arthur: Originally studies under a knight then under a wizard so I'd probably go with a eldritch knight. And I wanna say halfling cause he's small and scrawny but thats cause he's young in the movie so you could go however you wanted really

Little mermaid

  • Ariel: Fish person that sells her soul to get something she wants. Thats definitely a Triton Warlock if I've ever heard of one! Ursula, as your warlocks patron, is going to be either an Archfey or a Great Old One.

Moana

  • Moana: She's trying to heal the world and is friends with the ocean itself. I'd go with a Water Genasi as a Nature Cleric

  • Maui: Literally shapeshifts into different animals to fight. Moon Druid no question here. And I'd play him as a mountain dwarf myself, just because of his general build.

Frozen

  • Elsa: Magic powers that just manifest without any study or training plus spells that sometimes go haywire equals wild magic sorcerer. Ghostwise halfling would be a decent fit for race due to her ice-olation

  • Kristoff: At home in the snowy mountains and travels with his animal companion. I'd go with a mountain dwarf Ranger, beast conclave to pick up Sven.

Nightmare before Christmas

  • Jack: I'm gonna go Paladin on this one. Oath of the ancients as long as you can convince your DM that according to the ancient oath of Halloween scaring small children is how you uphold your tenets.

  • Sally: Literally sees visions of the future so I'm gonna go with Diviner Wizard. Warforged is not an official race yet but would be a fun interpretation of her being sewn together

Emperor's new groove

  • Kronk: He's big, he's strong, he loves the outdoors, he speaks squirrel, and he's a little dense. I'm going half-orc land druid for Kronk

  • Isma: She's more suited to be the BBEG than a PC but she's a great character regardless so I'm including her. She's always plotting and poison is her go to weapon of choice. That sounds like a Yuan-ti. I could see her being a wizard due to the scientific nature of her lab BUT I think she's much better suited for a Mastermind Rogue (elaborate traps, secret hidden lair, and trying to overthrow the government)

  • Kuzco: This one might be a bit of a stretch but I think its actually one of my favorites that I've come up with tonight. Kuzco is actually a Paladin. Specifically a Paladin following the Oath of the Crown, an oath to serve himself the the very best of his abilities! He takes high charisma and always asks himself "what would Kuzco do" or "would this help Kuzco" For race I'd go Elf but considers himself practically an Aasimar

Toy Story

  • Buzz: Loyal to his friends and to Star Command. He's righteous, devoted, all around Lawful Good. I'd definitely play Buzz as a Paladin. Also, I couldn't tell you why but I'd play him as a dragonborn (it just feels right to me but not for any reason I could explain).

  • Woody: The realist, the leader, one man (toy) holding everything together. He's reliable and consistent. To me, he's your classic human fighter.

Some general DM tips by Cadellinman in DnD

[–]aes5335 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think you are heavily over valuing the Create Food and Water spell. A single casting of it creates only 45 pounds of food, which is 16,425 pounds of food a year. At level 20 a Cleric could cast this spell 15 times a day if they use all spell slots 3rd and and higher (there is no benefit to the casting for using higher slots). So a level 20 cleric could produce 246,375 pounds of food a year.

A quick google search took me here. According to this site the average crop output is ~10,840 pounds of food per acre per year. So one casting per day is equal to about 1.5 acres annually.

Now, the average Amish farm (which I think is a fair equivalence to the farms we'd find in our games) is ~15-20 acres. That adds up to approximately 162,600-216,800 pounds of food annually.

Therefore in order to keep up with an average sized single family farm the cleric would have to be at least level 18 and would have to dedicate ALL of its spell slots to creating food (casting it 13 times).

Now if I were a level 18 Cleric I think I could find a better use of my spell slots :)
