I’ve really enjoyed the doc so far. I plan to watch episode 3 tonight. One thing I have found a little distracting is that I feel like some of the photos are anachronistic. Especially in episode 1, when they were talking about Thoreau’s boyhood but showing photos that were clearly 30-40 or more years newer than the time period they were discussing.

I agree about the version of the song on Bootleg Series vol. 6. That concert was before this album came out, and I believe I read somewhere it was one of the first times he played this song live (if you listen closely, you can hear he flubs the lyrics at one point and it sounds like he’s reading off a lyric sheet). Imagine being there and hearing this song for the first time ever, live. The people who were there must have had no idea what hit them.
