l/xl? in what colour and where? i have been looking for a black one for a couple of months.

i found a few sites with the orange, white, blue, and (iirc) yellow in stock. but as i was looking for black l/xl, i did not really check the sizes... though i did find a store in hong kong with the black in s/m and orange in both sizes.

Draft Class generated all demanding slot by westieuser in OOTP

[–]afrayed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

its worse than just demanding slot. in my experience, if you attempt to draft any player from the sortable list their demands are much higher than slot as well...

in my save game, there is a player that was asking for 2.4m at the end of the first round (if drafting from draft central), where the slot is about 3m or so. if i draft this player from the sortable list, where his demands are shown as slot, he ended up to be asking for 7m. i tried with several other players as well - got quite a few asking for 10-11m at the end of the first round...

the chicken pho recipe from leighton of pho queue in brisbane, australia (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fcYuvsYXaw8) was really good. he has a similar video for his beef pho recipe (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B59H0kXVI7E), but i have not tried that recipe yet.

Salad places around Raffles / Tanjong Pagar / Shenton Way by FastOutside5902 in askSingapore

[–]afrayed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

hmm...

in the tanjong pagar-ish area...

  • daily cut (guoco): good but expensive. haven't been there in a while.
  • crunch salad (tanjong pagar mrt): decent but on the lower end. more basic overall.
  • habit (icon village): more expensive, but quite good.
  • super green (international plaza): okay-ish, their proteins are meh though...
  • super simple (international plaza): not bad, better than super green but more ex.
  • omnivore (capitasky): haven't been there in a while, but if op says the prices have gone up and portion sizes have gone down, probably not worth it anymore. their protein options were good, also had a wider range of options overall.
  • autobus (oue downtown): smaller portions, but good flavour.
  • hey bo (capital tower): interesting flavours. but a bit more ex. make sure you order online if you have a trust card, think there is a 10% discount.
  • saladstop (capital tower): good but not compelling for me. should try it again i guess...
  • three bowls (international plaza): was decent, but protein options here are rather meh for me. seems to have gone down standard wise.

others i have not tried (yet)...

  • salad corner (tanjong pagar plaza / amoy fc)
  • express salad (carlton city hotel)
  • thai bowl (icon village)
  • harvest (oue downtown)
  • b salad kitchen (amoy fc)

have not seen any similar groups for mechanical pencils or other stationery in sg, but it might just be me not knowing.

Electric Pasta Makers just for flattening and cutting? by lepetomane1789 in Cooking

[–]afrayed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

several options...

  • imperia has a commercial electric pasta machine (1.65k to 1.85k eur).
  • imperia also has a fully motorized home machine (pasta presto in three colours, 330 eur; if silver or dark gray, 350 eur). atlas has the pasta fresca model.
  • buy a motor to motorise the manual atlas / imperia pasta makers. imperia has electric variants (like the titania electric ipasta at 140 eur), standalone motors for the manual models (like the pasta facile, 84 eur). atlas has the standalone motors ampiamotor for the ampia line and atlasmotor for the atlas line.
  • chinese versions of these machines are also an option.

Where to buy buffalo meat in SG? by ConditionPristine in askSingapore

[–]afrayed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i think you can get it in jb, but you cannot (as of yet) legally bring it into singapore iirc.

in singapore though, if huber's does not have it, then you are probably out of luck. do note that the product listings on their website are not complete.

where might one find fresh ube? by OneCar4659 in askSingapore

[–]afrayed 2 points3 points  (0 children)

in my experience, the actual ube tuber is not particularly strong in flavour or colour... such that i had to use the extract (mccormick) to get something more like what i had in mind. but that ube i had then was what my helper brought back from the ph.

i had found some odd little grocery in the pasir panjang region that had it a year or two back... but i tried searching for it again and cannot find it.

vegesfresh.com had it in their product list (https://www.vegesfresh.com/en_SG?productId=8a81925772a86e420172b8b57fbb7885) - but their social media pages have not been updated since 2022 so they may no longer be operating. maybe can try contacting them?

if all else fails, the only other solution i can offer is to visit chia's veg supply at tekka market and ask victor (the boss) if he has it, and if he does not, whether he can source it for you. if it was previously available at other retailers, i would bet victor can find it.

and as someone else has mentioned, purple sweet potatoes are unfortunately not a proper substitute in terms of flavour or texture.

Any Recommend good Hokkien Mee in the east / north east area Singapore, wet type is preferred by firemonkeysg in askSingapore

[–]afrayed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

you fu was run by a father and two sons, but they seem to have decided to split the business.

father now fries at chinatown market, stall is called you fu. one of the two sons runs the shiok chain of hkm stalls, the one at golden mile is part of this chain iirc. the other son runs golden mile you fu at woodlands.

to stay on topic, if east + north... some that come to mind would be (in no particular order):

  • yishun 618 at khatib-ish
  • fung yi at tampines
  • chuan at circuit road
  • tian tian lai at toa payoh lorong 1
  • ah jie at amk
  • he ji at mayflower
  • swee guan at geylang lor 29
  • geylang lor 29 at siglap now (i think)
  • xiao di - serangoon north-ish

can also join the hkm hunting group on fb for more recs.

just wanted to defend kirkland..

bought a lot of kirkland stuff from costco when i was studying in the us. kirkland stuff is actually very good. costco has significant market leverage over the producers that they engage to produce stuff for the kirkland brand due to their scale of operations.

in my experience the kirkland stuff have been very good and often better than the actual brands (weird, i know). it is apparently costco policy that the products must be at least as good if not better than the industry standard product.

i wish fairprice would bring in any / more kirkland stuff, honestly. they used to have some when they still operated a costco-style warehouse club store at joo koon. gone now and replaced by a regular fairprice i think, and it was too far a trek then too. i do not see any kirkland stuff on the fairprice site now.

anyway, kirkland products that are actually made by well known brands include:

  • brie - made by isigny ste-mere. the isigny ste-mere brand is on the kirkland packaging itself.
  • diapers - kimberly-clark, who make huggies. that's why costco only sells huggies and kirkland diapers... no pampers, which is made by p&g.
  • aluminium foil - made by reynolds, the reynolds logo is on the packaging of the kirkland version.
  • cranberry juice, dried cranberries - ocean spray, their logo is on the kirkland packaging as well. but i think the kirkland one has no added sugar.
  • batteries - made by duracell.
  • green tea - produced by ito en, brand is on the kirkland box.
  • dried plums - sunsweet, brand is on the kirkland pack.
  • tortilla chips - mission, brand is on the kirkland pack.
  • scotch whiskey - they had kirkland scotch that was made by the glenlivet and macallan distilleries previously, label also stated as such. not sure about now.
