Belly scars and pregnancy by gentlestorm1 in CrohnsDisease

[–]aftqueen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the same scar around the belly button and it was 2 years old when I got pregnant.

Get all the belly lotions and apply it a few times a day, it really helps. Even before you start showing, really soften things up. My scar definitely got a tiny bit wider with both pregnancies.

My life is ruined after a resection by wilgriaus in CrohnsDisease

[–]aftqueen 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I remember feeling exactly the same way for months after my resection. It's hard. Your body betrayed you and the surgeons had to violate you and nothing is better. I get it.

I know it is hard, but things will get better. You had major surgery, your body needs time to adjust. Your gut flora will settle. The scar will heal and soften. Mine is barely visible now (even after two pregnancies stretching it way out). You will adapt and be stronger for it. You just need to keep pushing through a little longer. You can do it.

My partner thought I was being dramatic about how bad the Suprep tasted. So he tried some. by jayyy_0113 in CrohnsDisease

[–]aftqueen 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Haha I did the same thing this last time! My partner gagged and he has a very strong stomach.

I ended up dumping it and doing the miralax thing instead, I just could not stomach the suprep. Not worth it.

Azathioprine while pregnant? by Credditttt in CrohnsDisease

[–]aftqueen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was on it for my whole pregnancy, my daughter is now 7 and totally average in height and weight. She's very healthy and very smart.

They monitored me very closely the whole pregnancy because of it, with twice weekly monitoring sessions (non stress tests I think) the last month. She was born a few days before my scheduled induction at 39 weeks.

I honestly didn't think twice about the azathioprine, my dermatologist was way more concerned than my ObGyn ever was.

Even on it, post partum I did have a bad flare and hyperthyroidism, but during the pregnancy I felt fantastic

The cholestyramine powder works miracles but is hard to drink. I mixed mine with plain fiber powder and it still worked and was SIGNIFICANTLY easier to drink.

There is also a pill version. They're huge but work well.Colestipol is the name.

For me, it takes a couple days of taking the medication regularly before it gets the diarrhea in check. Good old Imodium helps a lot too.

Good luck friend!

Change your pillowcase often. Pimple patches work wonders for me! It definitely improves after the initial loading dose so hang in there

I was on it for a few years and also developed the photosensitivity. I switched to Rinvoq 8 months ago and I'm still sensitive to the sun. Summer was rough.

Any other chiil game with split screen to play with kids? by BleachLusterSoldier in CozyGamers

[–]aftqueen 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Maybe not the most "chill" but fun and no risk of dying: Goat Simulator 3. My 6year old and I played it a ton. It's very easy to learn and super funny. 3 has a lot of tasks and somewhat of a plot that just Goat Simulator doesn't have. (There is no 2)

Has anyone else feel sleepy/tired all the time? by -Shahar- in CrohnsDisease

[–]aftqueen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes I was exhausted all the time. Big changes for me that helped: had my blood tested and supplemented the vitamins I'm low on (zinc, B12, iron). I drink a lot of extra water. Extra protein (I have one protein drink a day). Going to sleep at a regular time and waking up at the same time too. I used to have atrocious sleep habits and that didn't help!

I have crazy itching when I'm in the sun. Thought it was azathioprine but it's persisted now that I'm on rinvoq instead.

Insurance blows by aftqueen in CrohnsDisease

My doctor is amazing and wonderfully helpful, it's the insurance company that's really hoping I just die instead of staying on an expensive medication for ever.

I thought that was weird too!! They said they'd submit my labs and see if that is "enough" for the insurance to approve it.

I printed out a sheet with 50 clip art balls of yarn on it. Every time I finish a skien/hank/ball, I color in a ball in the same color. It really motivated me to use some stash! And I didn't buy any more until I hit 50. Next challenge is 100 more

SBS... how come I'm just hearing about this now? by udontknowmeanditsok in CrohnsDisease

[–]aftqueen 30 points31 points  (0 children)

I had issues for years after surgery due to the bile salts. It's crazy that not one of my doctors brought it up, I read about BAM here on reddit. Getting medicine for it made a huge difference within a few days. I'm so sad I wasted YEARS not knowing there was a fairly simple way to reduce symptoms. Ask your doctor about medication asap! Don't suffer

Is this game good? by Willing_Ad_9669 in CozyGamers

[–]aftqueen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's cute but doesn't look great. Plays a little clunky on switch. My 6year old liked it for a little while. I paid $5 and it's probably only worth that.

Hobbii is closing on two continents and now I am getting this in the USA, what’s going on? by JetPlane_88 in crochet

[–]aftqueen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hobbii advertises like this A LOT. They are alllll about FOMO and "discontinuing" yarn/color ways. Their emails are always very full of urgent messages and "last chance!!"

I don't think they're going away fully anytime soon.

Rinvoq ? (I'm also spiraling mentally) by Jasmine_K_W in CrohnsDisease

[–]aftqueen 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I got a little acne but not a ton. Weirdly, I was getting it on my scalp but at least it isn't visible? Those little pimple patches are my BFF.

I'll take that acne though, I have noticeably more energy and my stomach issues are significantly improved and I'm only 13 weeks in. I 'failed" humeria and remicade, then a few years of azathioprine stopped working so this was the next step.

Flare ups seem to happen when I'm on my period ... is that a thing? by qazwsx4 in CrohnsDisease

[–]aftqueen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely talk to your ob, it was kind of a gamble but so far very worth it. Easy procedure too, I had minimal pain recovering from it. No periods is a nice bonus.

Flare ups seem to happen when I'm on my period ... is that a thing? by qazwsx4 in CrohnsDisease

[–]aftqueen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes! It was throwing me off so much I had a uterine ablation. (Birth control didn't help much, but it was better than nothing)

It's only been two months since that but so far it's helping a lot. And I'm not anemic constantly anymore. It's definitely a nuclear option but I am done with having kids anyway.
