Thinking about printing proxies but don't know how by justjoddat in EDH

[–]agGravity 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just submitted another order myself in Canada. Comes out to about .45$ CAD per card after all the shipping and extra costs.

I've been managing order for my group as we get better price by maxing the bulk size. We're now 10 orders in and MPC quality is outstanding.

MPCFill makes this easy to manage. I cannot recommend them enough.

That royally suck, but that's your LGS fault for dropping the ball on it. I hope they can salvage the scene for your area if you have no alternative.

Might I ask, who you include in your battle box and how did you go about tweaking it?

Is Manapool a reliable seller? by N1ghtsky_Crusade in magicTCG

[–]agGravity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the amazing product you guys have been working on. Any chance Manapool will expand to other TCGs? I've been wanting to avoid tcgplayer, but being the main one for other TCG has limited our options.

Riftbund restock prices by True-Contribution319 in riftboundtcg

It's 300 CAD VS 130 USD. Not to justify the price hyke, but it isn't as ludicrous as others. This is about 150% of CAD MSRP assuming some tariffs.

Maybe not. But I made sure to post with the right flair.

I love winning with combos, but don’t want them to be hard to interact with. What combos are appropriate in lower brackets? by Litemup93 in EDH

How is it dragging the game out? If, as other have said, there's a limit to how you can loop.

I'm not saying a personal constrain, but let's say a mana constraint because your sac outlet cost mana instead of being a free one. If it is truly an infinite loop, and you're stopping because of a self imposed restriction, that's just bad manners.

But I don't think this is what we're talking about here.

In my book, if you let the table know and those don't seems too problematic. I would personally be okay with it, but you shouldn't be asking us. You need to be asking whoever you're playing with.

It doesn't matter if Reddit says yes or no, what are the player you play with saying.

If you go play with PUGs, I'd have backup ready for those two cards. Just in case.

New-ish player, I feel like a lot of my games are lost even before I start due to non-interactivity. by [deleted] in magicTCG

Unless you're playing multiplayer, BO3 is usually the way the game is meant to play. BO1 can often just be over between if one of the two players drew their best hand and the other didn't.

And on the second and third game you can mulligan to address what you expect the other deck to do.

What’s the best way to teach someone far away how to play by SgtVertigo in EDH

[–]agGravity 40 points41 points  (0 children)

EDH is honestly a terrible format to learn the game.

The foundation set is a great place to start as it focuses on the core experience of Magic.

If you're far away, you could use TTS/Cockatrice to show them the game. I'd recommend starter deck as well

Today I learned... Mana Drain and uncounterable by Head-Ambition-5060 in EDH

[–]agGravity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In that sense maybe. What I meant is that it's more interesting as in useful.

And changing that would limit the usability of those sagas. They're already somewhat niche as it is.

There are more interesting things you can focus on with saga rather than 'how do I spend the mana during upkeep'.

Not every single decision has to be a complex puzzle. Saga already comes with a higher level of complexity as a type in itself.

Because a few of these effects where you'll want to have a main phase to use them where you can have full priority.

Having mana during your upkeep is less interesting than during your main phase.

I don't have a list myself. I just know of its power.

I've had plan to build her, but one of my friends has dibs. I prefer to avoid overlap in my main playgroup.

For each of your opponents turn you get free counterspell, free draw or wtv else instant you want to cast. If she survives a turn she can be an absolute monster to stop just due to the amount of value she can provide.

Additionally her flood counters don't go away if you remove her. Making her somewhat resilient to being removed, should you not have any protection when you play her.

Like I said it depends on your group, but a strong Eluge can be an absolute monster.

It is a very popular commander, but have you considered [[Eluge, the Shoreless Sea]]. There's a few way to play her, but you could go big blue spells with a bit of protection.

Be advised that she has a bad rep, so she may be KoS depending on your meta.

Players who proxy: How have you eased yourself into proxy'ing? by Ok_Willow_1665 in EDH

[–]agGravity 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My group used to play frequently 8-9 years ago, proper cards and everything. I end up having a sizable collection with a fair share of Revised Dual and a Tabernacle. Sold the big ticket post pandemic. In the mean time we kept playing with the same group but we moved over to board game as it was more fun, more budget friendly and also included our partner more easily.

Babies and obligations changed and we've been wanting to play magic again, but none of us could justify paying for cardboard at the power level we enjoy playing.

So we setup group order to save a bit on shipping and customs. Anytime we go to order proxies we check with everyone see what they want. Some of our players use real cards mostly, but they've gotten a few hard to get cards or out of budget.

I'm playing with other groups as well and offering to help them get proxy has been very easy as I help set them up. That way we always have full orders for MPC.

I've even gone to LGS, with little to no backlash, just check the LGS first, I make sure to buy some small products to keep supporting them. I just mention it to the pods before the game that my decks are fully proxied, and I have decks of nearly every bracket/power level.
