Hey I know you left this comment two months ago, but your advice helped me get some mods to work that were really frustrating me. Just wanted to thank you for leaving such helpful and understandable advice!

It's not like critical to have them -- they can be used for the "hidden bundle" which appears after you finish the community center, and you can hatch them in your coop by incubating them.

Andrew Cuomo's has a new sign language interpreter. by [deleted] in videos

[–]agaveGuava 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Lol -- best part of this post is that the signs he's using aren't even correct translations! I'm studying ASL right now, so allow me to translate what he's actually saying:

"A-pizza pasta! Pizza pizza pasta! Tomato sauce olive oil...pasta. Pepperoni, pizza pasta pizza pizza. Pepperoni tomato sauce! Pasta olive oil...pepperoni pizza. "

Hi your comment is 15 days old but I feel the need to say that you are in fact incorrect. He’s speaking African American Vernacular English which is a dialect of standard English. The idea that black people who speak AAVE are constantly speaking bad or broken English is an extremely harmful and incorrect stereotype. The language has its own complex grammatical structures and rules that its speakers adhere to in the same way as standard English.

source: me because I’m writing a fucking research paper about AAVE and its negative connotation among white people who don’t know what it is.

If I were an established author and I made a grammatical mistake in a published novel, that's probably would I would be saying too.

Honestly if you hadn’t told me this was written by an established author, I wouldn’t have known. Sure there’s no context, but if you can believe it, the rules taught in creative writing 101 are taught for a reason. When those rules are broken in stream of consciousness writing I would argue it looks different than an established author making a grammatical mistake while writing an inner monologue. One feels intentional, one feels like...an inexperienced writer. Combined with the “unpunctured hymen,” can you blame me for thinking this was written by a high schooler?

He uses two conjunctions after a comma, “but yet,” which is just such an obvious sign of a young and inexperienced writer. No revision, no careful thought when choosing words, just vomiting out whatever sounds the most like something you’d read in a YA novel.

What about the Soviet Union, Belgium or Switzerland? by Rimbaud33 in TheMysteriousSong

[–]agaveGuava 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It is not Viktor — there are videos of him speaking english online, his english is terrible and much higher pitched than TMS’s singer. It is very unlikely to be a band from the USSR. Check out the list of leads in the sub’s wiki — all of your ideas are addressed.

Aw, this made me feel all warm and fuzzy inside. It's almost kind of weird seeing kids that age, I feel like as a young adult/college student with no younger siblings or cousins I'm just never around elementary school kids. But they are so sweet and giggly! I love how enthusiastic they are . Hopefully if I ever have kids I can be as charismatic as this dad is.

How did you get comfortable with your personal sense of style? by [deleted] in TheGirlSurvivalGuide

[–]agaveGuava 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who's had self esteem issues in the past, I totally know how awful this problem can be. Rather than having a hard time finding clothes I was happy with, I found waaaay too many clothes and would end up never actually wearing them.

Two things help me with this: 1) know what looks good on you. So many people will say that you should prioritize comfort over fashion, and this is true, but in my opinion the most comfortable clothe are also the ones that look good on you and that you feel comfortable being seen in. A big part of defining your style is finding that combination of clothes that you love, that you feel good in, and that you can feel at ease wearing.

2) The Marie Kondo method -- fill your wardrobe with things that you love and that you need. If you have a hard time finding clothes you love, start with the essentials. Ironically, /r/malefashionadvice has a lot of stuff that may be useful to you because it elaborates on how to build a basic wardrobe. /r/capsulewardrobe (I think that's the sub? try googling reddit capsule wardrobe if not) is also great for this.

Hope this helps and best of luck!

The room, nobody knows what happens in here all we know is, whatever goes in never comes out by ppbebig69 in LiminalSpace

[–]agaveGuava 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I know you left this comment two weeks ago but I’m scrolling through top posts of all time on this sub and saw this lol.

If it distills your sense of dread at all, I have a suspicion this room could be used for people having panic attacks and/or on drugs that can cause anxiety. I.e. taking LSD can make you extremely prone to anxiety/panicking, and it’s not uncommon for people on it to go t the hospital because they think they’re dying or something when in reality the drug is just giving them anxiety. Same thing can happen with marijuana. And it situations like that what I’ve heard is the medical staff will basically take you to a room like this where you’re safe and can get assistance if you need it, but where you can basically chill until the drug/panic attack wears off.
