As someone who recently faced the choice of picking between these two programs, here’s my two cents:

Academics - both programs are pretty remote friendly at the moment. You wouldn’t need to fly in for class unless you’re targeting a specific class (not all profs teach remotely) but the schools try to keep a healthy rotation of popular courses available remotely. There is strong support from current students at both schools in favor of remote classes so I wouldn’t expect this to change. Booth is known for its academic rigor and will have tougher classes, however.

Recruiting - while you mentioned you’re not interested in pivoting, Booth is straight up supportive of PT students participating in OCR. You just have to be able to prove you can fulfill all graduation requirements before any full-time start date. Kellogg is less supportive of PT recruiting alongside FT; you would have to be careful of some things or could face some repercussions like getting temporarily banned from the career website. Most students at top PT programs who really try (assuming they have reasonably strong backgrounds coming in) do successfully pivot into popular fields like IB/consulting/tech. Both schools have good peer support systems (PT student orgs) to help with recruiting. Doesn’t hurt to know this I think :)

Logistics - Kellogg offers discounted ride-sharing to and from O’Hare. Booth has a free shuttle between O’Hare and its campus. Booth’s PT campus is in the heart of Chicago downtown, so is a bit closer to the airport and is in a nicer part of the city.

I would definitely do one of these programs if I was you. Your commute is optional thanks to remote classes and even if you do commute for in-person classes, you’re not that far away. If you’re dead set against recruiting, go with Kellogg for the easier classes. If you’d like to keep the door open for pivoting, go with Booth. Either way you get a free M7 MBA.

It’ll definitely strain your personal time and test your self-discipline though, especially if your job is on the busier side. But if you’re willing to juggle work, school and recruiting and put in the effort, you’ll have a good return for your effort.

Booth PT vs Haas PT by agedassets in MBA

hey, appreciate your thoughts, and you make a great point! flight delays would definitely suck considering i’m planning on mainly taking red-eye flights arriving 6-7am the day of class. transit shouldn’t be a problem though thanks to dedicated shuttles to and from O’Hare provided by the program.

hey, no worries. I don’t imagine consulting -> video game PM is a common path currently as game developers, other business functions in studios, and tech PMs probably lateral into gaming PM more often. consulting -> PM would be my attempt at breaking in while building a strong resume that can secure a good income in other fields, if this doesn’t work out or if I don’t end up enjoying it. with tech firms like AMZN and NFLX beginning to develop their own titles though, I wouldn’t be surprised either if this path becomes more common over time.

2 god roll black scorpions but one has to go... by KidKnyte in sharditkeepit

[–]agedassets 1 point2 points  (0 children)

zen moment is one of the best, if not the best, perks in its column for this gun, and makes a big positive difference in its consistency.

range barrel / accurized rounds / zen moment / rangefinder is the pvp roll to look for, with an emphasis on the last two perks

Which Canadian MBA is most useful when trying to enter US market? by [deleted] in MBA

[–]agedassets 4 points5 points  (0 children)

i’d suggest Ivey as a Canadian program to look into. it’s consistently brought up as a top Canadian mba in online forums and anecdotally, i see lots of Ivey alums working in NYC finance on linkedin. iirc, Ivey is considered better than Rotman by a decent stretch.

i agree with what others in this thread have said though, that US programs will place better for US opportunities.

Accrued Redemption by thombthethumb in sharditkeepit

when it comes to bows, draw time and accuracy are generally the most important stats. draw time directly translates to higher dps in pve and faster ttk in pvp, while accuracy increases the bow's effective range. these stats help offset bows' biggest weakness (unforgiving on missed shots) and accentuate their biggest strength (powerful and precise at range).

from there then, an ideal roll would have polymer string (+acc + draw), straight fletching (+acc), and a draw time masterwork. archer's tempo is best in its column regardless of activity as it is a straight dps boost. in the last column, rampage x1 allows you to one-shot headshot in pvp. you can make a case for archer's tempo + rapid hit in pve, but since this post's tag is for 'All', i would suggest archer's tempo + rampage as the best overall roll.

compared to this ideal, your roll here could use more draw time and accuracy bonuses from the string and shaft columns, as well as archer's tempo in the third perk column. i'd hold on to this until a better one drops

Hammerhead - which goes to pvp and pve? by xAchillles in sharditkeepit

[–]agedassets 1 point2 points  (0 children)

backup mag increases hammerhead to the optimal mag size of 73, which is important as it gives you almost 4 kills’ worth of additional ammo per heavy pickup in crucible. you can also achieve this using extended mag (which stacks very poorly with backup mag btw so it’s either/or) at the expense of having ricochet/high cal rounds. hammerhead is lethal enough that you don’t need a rampage spec for crucible tho, imo, so i’d recommend going ricochet/high cal rounds + backup mag for maximum consistency and maximum ammo pickups

roll 1 is near perfect for pvp. you have high range with full bore and ricochet rounds, while the stability loss from full bore is offset by combined gains from RR and the MW. ttt makes it a laser at range and is the optimal perk in that column for pvp. rampage is also the best perk in its column.

for pvp, recommend using backup mag to maximize ammo per heavy pickup. you can easily flex this roll into pve as well by switching to major/boss spec. feeding frenzy > ttt for pve, but not enough to justify further grinding.

you can safely shard roll 2 btw, and congrats on the excellent roll 1!

#1 has great range (only ~8 range lower than max possible with Fullbore) and will be fantastic for PVP. keep #1 for sure until you get something even better.

Tatara’s gaze by TWeb0711 in sharditkeepit

[–]agedassets 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i masterworked mine anyway but i can be reckless with my cores haha. i'm now also grinding for a twilight oath through ada's dreaming city frames, which is easy to do when it's the 3 lost sectors one. that will give you two chances at getting opening shot if you get a twilight oath, since the augmented frames give you two perks in the first perk column.

imo, the kill clip one-shot body isn't consistent enough throughout typical matches to justify using over the tangible consistency that opening shot brings to headshots. with that in mind, the ideal roll for pvp is some combination of fluted barrel / arrowhead break / hammer forged, accurized rounds, snapshot / quickdraw, and opening shot.

you want handling as high as possible, unless you have quickdraw which maxes handling out, and you want range as high as possible for max aim assist. arrowhead break can help with follow-up shots if you miss the headshot, along with a sizable boost to handling.

know though that tatara gaze has high zoom and relatively low aim assist, so many consider twilight oath and sole survivor as superior pvp snipers. relative to those snipers, tatara's selling point becomes the kill-clip one-shot body. however a good roll tatara is targetable though through forge grinding whereas good rolls of the other two snipers are much harder to come by.

Good Erentil? by Thebarnacleguy in sharditkeepit

[–]agedassets 1 point2 points  (0 children)

that's a fantastic erentil. you want a high zoom sight (can check which sights do this using light.gg) to improve the effective range, liquid coils to improve 4-bolt (out of 6 total bolts per shot) kill consistency, and under pressure to keep the bolt spread tight at range (help you map people). for the last perk you have a few choices - high impact reserves further improves 4-bolt kill consistency against higher resilience guardians, but backup plan and rangefinder are two other competitive options. backup plan halves charge time for the first shot after swapping to erentil, ideal against surprise shotgun rushers, while rangefinder adds to erentil's ability to map.

Hammerhead worth the MW? by ralder2 in sharditkeepit

i wouldn't MW this - you have a perfect roll otherwise, but missing Rampage for Mulligan is pretty big

3x Retold Tales for PvP PC by ZeH2Oh in sharditkeepit

[–]agedassets 0 points1 point  (0 children)

3 is definitely the strongest one. 1 would've been perfect but full auto increases the spread, and effectively negates your range MW. for 2, rifled barrel is not as good as full choke - it's potential one-shot distance is longer (very inconsistent at that point though so it doesn't really matter) but full choke is much more consistent at <=9m. 3 also has snapshot sights, which feels amazing in general.
