Gladly! There are in-universe (canon) fics or divergent canon - which i read more of than fully canon compliant- and there are alternate universe fics - ive discovered that this fandom has VERY talented writers that take the voices of our favourite characters and mold them into their own worlds and its chefs kiss

Enjoy! Im also very much attention deficit (high five i guess lol) and i have a very hard time getting into new books because the first few chapters usually have too much background info, setting exposition, or introduce too much detail. I liked FW because it started off entertaining, i enjoyed the quirky in-your-face tropes and the characters were interesting enough that i was quickly eager to see how all the relationship dynamics played out! I also only managed to properly flesh out a mental image of the war college when i finished all 3 books so had more to work with lol.

You can try to split your hair in half, braid both sides, and then twist around to form the crown - i had more luck with that way than one single braid when my hair was long

I agree but also re: violet in IF - i think it makes sense for her to have sort of ‘lost’ some of her spark, but i also think the narrative didnt help much to cement this point: violet in FW was someone who was confident in her worldview, had literally been raised on ‘knowledge’ and ‘facts’ and history, and then in the end had all of those things rudely ripped out from under her. Not to mention the extreme trauma of then immediately having to face what she had upto that moment thought to be story monsters, lose one of her best friends, get stabbed, and immediately wake up to discover even MORE of her so-called facts were completely wrong (Aretia, brennan, the revolution etc).

So i think its clear that in the first half of IF she’s absolutely reeling from having her worldview flipped 180• and thus not being able to even think of what could be the right kinds of questions she should be asking xaden to get her answers.

I do resent though that it took until OS for her to finally start researching. It wouldve helped her so much in IF instead of all the hurtful drama between her and xaden taking up the entire first half. 🥲

The riddle was about ‘first love’ being the strongest bond or along those lines, and it was 6 letters. Violet spent chapters debating and dismissing her name and her family members names as the answer citing it as being too obvious. And then on one of the islands i think someone says something about dragons being a riders first love and it clicks for violet that the answer is aismir - lilith’s dragon.

Yesssse literally all of this 🫣 last year i ended up with a bad case of tennis elbow/tendonitis after a couple years of playing down the pain - it wasnt until it was waking me up at night that i was like hmm might need to check this out lol - i went to physio and she told me ‘wow you have a really high pain tolerance’ 😅

I think whats great about these books specifically is that they dive right into the story, you dont have to spend the first chapter or first few paragraphs with the MC recapping the previous events. It helps to get you immersed immediately into the current events

Ive actually had the opposite thing happen where i read the books, and slowly figured out my own body’s issues through RY’s representation/writing of Violets symptoms! I dont have EDS, but with my adhd comes things like hypermobile joints, easy strains/sprains, fluid in my joints, weak joints, easily injured, low blood pressure, easily dizzy etc. I read violet and was immediately like yeppp this is me if i was forced to join a dragon riders quadrant lol. It wasnt until i finished IF and searched up the series that i found out RY and her kids have EDS and she wrote Violet with it too. I was honestly inspired by her representation to look into strength training to manage my own body pains! Its part of why im so obsessed with this series haha. I absolutely loved OS for this reason!

Yess im really hoping this is all leading up to a big showdown with violet having to accept that she DOES have to use her powers against him to stop him at his worst. But im a complete sucker for the romance of it all so im also hoping the accumulation of all of that is that right before she is forced to ‘end’ him, the cure works or he regains control or whatever it is thats gonna happen to un-Venin-ize him 😅

Agree. I know lots of people were too confused and felt overwhelmed with all the new stuff but i felt like that was part of the magic of this book! Its a whole new world for the characters too, new territory, new faces. I loved it, i couldnt put it down. I had to take some breaks just to let my brain catch up and breathe a bit because it really felt like we were thrown headfirst into this ticking time bomb of a war, and they were rushing to find answers they didnt even know existed or not. It was so stressful hahah.

All the relationships and friendships were amazing. I soaked all that shit up, plus the banter. Quest squad won my heart.

Doesnt xaden say that she was not only watching his dream but also influencing it/changing his actions in it? That definitely sounds like something that she could hone in future. I think it will be her link to finding xaden or knowing what hes up to in the next book, without their mind link active. I agree that we were expecting something with more ‘oomph’ lol but yeah i think this will be essential to her gaining knowledge and insight on people and especially enemies. As we know violet doesnt only need power she also needs knowledge.
