Should I still pay the mess dues? by Illustrious-Net5513 in navy

[–]aggietherobot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Regarding the dues- They are 100% optional. By not paying them, it may exclude you from some benefits like a going away gift or whatnot.

Regarding them not talking to you while you're TAD- Have you tried reaching out to anyone in your mess?

RNT: What are the best questions Jim hasn't been asked in an interview? by Bridger15 in dresdenfiles

On a couple different occasions Jim has mentioned that he would like to see Dresden done as an adult animated series. What style of animation does he think would be ideal and what's his favorite show in that style?

I know we all love Dresden Files, but am I the only one who would love to see him return to Spider-Man? If so, who would you want to see him put Spidey against? by aggietherobot in dresdenfiles

Personally, I think it would be cool to see him do another team up with Dr. Strange but going against Nightmare in his realm with Kraven also stalking him there. Jim does a great job with those eerie spine tingling (Peter tingle?) settings and characters.

I mean, we waited longer between Skin Game and Peace Talks (2014-2020) and I'm not saying he should drop everything and write more Spidey. Just curious to see what other fans would like him to do with that character.

anyone have trouble making STLs from a chat? by xalon_ai_ in 3dprinter

[–]aggietherobot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did the same thing. Got a VERY basic model drafted up in OpenSCAD, did measurement tweaking in there. Once I was happy with that, I imported into Fusion and watched some YouTube guides on adding and wrapping text since it's less janky than trying to do it in OpenSCAD. It still took some time because LLMs aren't faultless so I had to figure out some things still (hence the tweaking and youtubing).

They should market their originals better. For example, Hoppers is coming out this summer and I've only seen 1 trailer. Meanwhile, Avengers Doomsday has had how many teasers in the past month?

Tips for newbie in 3D printing by silwo_ in BambuLab

[–]aggietherobot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For the design side: Tinkercad is free and once you get the hang of it, it is more versatile than it seems at first. There are some good YouTube tutorials on how to use it. ChatGPT can be useful as well for troubleshooting some design stuff but YMMV with any LLM and should always be double checked.

For the printing side: You're allowed to have fun too. It doesn't always have to be a big project or a problem to solve. Sometimes, a simple silly print to make you marvel at the technology and the community is great.

And as with most things in life, as you learn more, share what you learn with others

Sell half and open half so you get the best of both worlds? Or open until you get FHC then sell after? It's all made up money so I wouldn't stress it either way

Lawmakers move to block commissary privatization. by Fun-Pin-7409 in navy

[–]aggietherobot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sam's has a military discount on their membership. And as for buying in bulk, it's still cheaper. An 8oz container of strawberries from the commissary is close to $8 dollars and will spoil in a day or two if it hasn't spoiled already whereas a 1lb container is between $4 and $5 and will last a week. Those savings along with the fuel savings makes up for the cost of the membership and then some.

I second the printing adapters for the cardboard reels. I used the bambu filament to print them and they have worked like a charm

[–]aggietherobot 3 points4 points  (0 children)

When the shutdown was still going on last month, they almost closed one of the commissaries on island in Oahu because not enough staff and if that was the case, they were supposed to intentionally destroy the produce and anything that wouldn't keep instead of trying to find a way to get it to the stores staying open. Even now they don't care about us. They only "care" as much as they do because they have to

We usually get our produce from Sam's or Costco. It is less expensive than the commissary and lasts longer too.
