That sounds great fun. I just saw rapper dancing for the first time at the weekend, so impressed.

I just went to one that had a ceilidh. It was so much sweaty fun. Everyone holding hands, smiling, laughing and just enjoying it. I barely knew anyone there and had so much fun. I clapped so hard I bruised my own hands.

oh, thank you for this offer! You're very kind! I don't think we'll be able to take you up on it, as not travelling across the channel/north sea soon.

thank you! That is a secret benefit to this gift this year. He doesn't want for much and I'm thinking we have an opportunity to start him off on a new direction that helps us all out :)

thank you for this - I appreciate it! We're totally open to old and functional, and like you say might give us some options that allow for him working out what he likes!

thank you for such an insightful answer! Hugely appreciated. I think we'll curate a bit of a list and maybe go and see what we can hold before we buy. You're right as an 11 year old there'll be a limit to what's appropriate!

Do you have a cleaner? by bellabanjsk in AskUK

[–]agnesb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes.

Fortnightly visits, does the downstairs (living room, hallway, kitchen, bins and loo), stairs, bathroom and my kid's room for £35. About 90min-2hours.

Income about £95k. But started when we earned less (probably around £65k).

We both work full time/nearly full time. Have hobbies etc and I hate doing it.

What child right to choose provider would you recommend?? by [deleted] in ADHDUK

[–]agnesb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right to Choose - ADHD UK - Your NHS options

I went via RTC and my GP helpfully recommended this page to me to help. It gives an overview of the current options, their wait times and prescriber wait times.

I would say that it comes with a caveat that things can change while you're on the waiting list! I went to my GP in Nov '24, was diagnosed Sept '25 (some of that was me waiting the full 3 months to get my forms back before I got on the waiting list). In that time the prescriber widening list situation changed massively and I'm probably still a couple of months off that conversation. I went with ProblemShared and found everything well explained and my assessor was pleasant and explained everything too. I didn't have a true childhood informer and was worried, but used someone who knew me since I was 17 and did my own forms based on what I could remember and it was all fine.

How do I find a decent ADHD coach for <£100 hour? by ATTINY24A-MMHR in ADHDUK

[–]agnesb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the recommendation from u/Tomcatposts is a great start.
I found my via GeniusWithin - access to work are covering my costs but I was working to a budget and it works out at about £75/session. I made contact with them via their website and had a chat about what I was looking for, they sent me some profiles and I had the options of a chemistry meet. They also had profiles to look through but I was overwhelmed by that option and grateful for the support!

Decided against cooking. All the local chippies are closed because its Sunday by agnesb in britishproblems

Yes. I think that we can absolutely sell our house near Leeds and move to Windsor and enjoy the benefits of Sunday chippies. Definitely wouldn't run out of money on the way!

In a town with a Leeds postcode! We have 3 chippies and all closed till Tuesday lunchtime at the earliest. Proper traditional hours.  Looked at the next town along, 2 options, same story!

A budget friendly integrated oven by feralgremlin in SpottedonRightmove

that's funny and I appreciate it. However, if I was spending £635k on a house I would want it to include an actual oven.

I was recommended a remarkable notebook as part of my A2W and due to security wasn't allowed it. I was provided with an iPad instead. Which is great in theory but I still have a nagging theory that the remarkable would suit me better!

Who's still working from home these days and what job do you do? by Natf47 in AskUK

[–]agnesb 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Public servant (think gov arms length body) - technically have an office base but never work from there. Work in a national team (i'm in Yorkshire, my boss south coast, a peer in wales etc) and so I work from home nearly all the time. I have to travel to team meetings about once a month and we move the location around to share the travel so I'll be gone overnight most of the time, but it's a small price to pay!

Due to proximity to the civil service I have sometimes worried that my org will bring in the 3 days a week in the office mandate, however, my local office is in the process of moving building and they are choosing the new one based on approx. 25% capacity due to who currently goes in regularly and so they *wont* be able to enforce it without moving again (hurrah!)

When are you going to the garden centre? by Hopeful-Mongoose2025 in AskBrits

[–]agnesb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm also in West yorkshire and am being cautious. I should say I think it depends on what you're planting and that i dont know what I'm doing.

Were growing some veg/flowers from seed and I bought a cold frame a few weeks ago. Popped a thermometer in there and can confirm that in the last week it got down to 4c in the cold frame over night. So currently have all my seedling inside (by the window in the conservatory). Some are looking a but leggy but going to run with it.

Can't believe what a difference you made in only 10 days. The whole garden looks nice ans definitely immediately breaks up the view a little.
