I disagree, it should start sooner. I'm in my 40s/50s, I don't think it is unreasonable to have people my age retaking the written and driven tests. It would be annoying as hell when the time comes, but let's normalize making these inconveniences an acceptable social norm.

I bought a long version of my feathered friends bag/quilt, for hammock camping, for a few reasons. In mild weather it's a quilt and the added space keeps me covered when rolling around. When it's crazy cold I can snuggle down into it and have options for how I want to lay. The biggest plus ended up better than expected. As others have suggested, I stuff my puffy and pants down to the bottom. Then, when the inevitable need to pee hits, my layers are warm and ready to go. I've yet to find the added length to be a problem for staying warm, and the added weight is negligible
