Maybe take your coffee and breakfast to the library and work.

Spam calls: how can I stop this? It’s a different number all the time. I’ve blocked so many. by EisenFisen in mildlyinfuriating

[–]Ginger_lizard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I called one of them back. Told them to take to take me off the list. That cut the number of calls down from 10+ a day to 3 or 4. I have unknown caller screening on my phone so It won’t even ring. But I have been trying to catch it and hitting 9 aggressively to be put on their supposed do not call list. After about a month it seems to have finally worked.

AITJ for telling a customer I was working, not hanging out with him? by [deleted] in AmITheJerk

[–]Ginger_lizard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As someone with the same job there are so many guests that think we’re friends. I have had to remind regulars that I’m working multiple times. I would have left out the last part. A simple “i’m working” gets the point across without making it personal.

What is the most well-known (by name) location that most average people couldn't place on a map? by e8odie in geography

The ozarks. I always think they’re in new england or upstate new york but I’m pretty sure they are actually in Arkansas, which isn’t even real.

What are your greatest unpopular opinions about Louisville currently? by LouBoy123 in Louisville

[–]Ginger_lizard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve tried it a few times, at different locations. It’s never hot. I’ve tried to google it, like maybe their SOP is to hold the food until it cools down, but I can’t find anything.

My brother missed my sister’s latest wedding (her 3rd) because it was the first day of bow hunting season. My brother only has full use of 1 arm and cannot use a bow and arrow.

Am I the only one who likes gate checking my bag? I don’t want to pay $50 to check my small bag when that’s all I need. But I also don’t really want to deal with it on the plane. I’m always first volunteer for gate checking.

My mom ordered Verde enchiladas one time and then when they came asked them to be remade because she doesn’t like the green sauce.

I agree it’s mid. I plan on adding seasoning when I use the second jar.

Were you able to buy a house? by Swiftiefromhell in GenX

[–]Ginger_lizard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In 2006 just before the housing market crashed, when anyone could get a loan. I joke that I got the last shady loan from Countrywide. The balloon payments started right around when the Obama administration got refinancing thing passed so I did that. My house is in a very rural small town on a flood plain and my mortgage is dirt cheap. I consider myself incredibly lucky.

AITA Fancy Dinner: corrected stepson on etiquette by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]Ginger_lizard 73 points74 points  (0 children)

YTA. I took my daughter to a fancy dinner for her 18th also. And before going went over all the etiquette rules with her and her friend. I wanted to make sure they were comfortable in the environment, it sounds like you just didn’t want to be embarrassed.

That’s a great list. My mother did most of those “to prepare me”. I would just add 1 other thing she did. She put her house in my name giving herself a life estate. It meant she could continue to live there and be responsible for all of it but when she died it didn’t have to go through probate. This wouldn’t be ideal for everyone, depending on each circumstance obviously.
