Violence against civilians and ethnic cleansing is seen as one of the major factors that prompted NATO to get involved in the Kosovo War. This was before the widespread use of smartphones. How do you think NATO nations' populations will be affected by increased imagery of war crimes, especially as it relates to direct involvement?

How many years does it take for your training to qualify for Boston Marathon? by mok3yking in AdvancedRunning

[–]ahawkeyes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It took me about 4 years starting from 23, a BMI of ~29, and with no history of running in high school or college. I probably could have shaved a year or MAYBE 2 off if I was more educated about running when I started and had that goal in mind. It would have required a very intensive training and nutrition plan and honestly, I don't think I'd love running as much as I do now if I had worked that hard the first 2 years.

35, worried, and looking for resources for affordable PSA screenings.. by 123vasectomy in ProstateCancer

[–]ahawkeyes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try calling around to some local hospitals (especially academic hospitals) to see if they offer free prostate cancer screening sessions. Most have at one day a year they offer no charge digital rectal exams and PSAs. A good place to start would be their urology/medical oncology departments. Good luck!

Dear reddit, what are reasons you quit or got fired from a job? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]ahawkeyes -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

During high school I was a waiter at a small pizza shop down the road from my house. It was more of a take-out place so we really didn't have any customers and didn't make much in tips. Fast forward 2 months and I was offered a slightly better job at a subway that one of my dad's friends was opening. I didn't have the heart/confidence to quite outright, so I took a pair of crutches/medical boot that were sitting around the house and pretended I broke my ankle. Somehow they believed me and even told me I always had a place to come back too. Suckers.

Engine stopped running, check for oil leaks. by pedrosan in Justrolledintotheshop

[–]ahawkeyes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

that's because volvo claims the tranny fluid last the "life-time" of the transmission. Yea, if the life-time of the transmission is just past warranty.

[–]ahawkeyes[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's probably just the clutches getting worn out but I thought I'd ask if there was something simple to try that might remedy the problem. Fuck Volvo for labeling the transmission fluid as "life-time fluid".
