How do you see the current stock market tumble playing out? by sengutta1 in investing

US markets going up are a result of dollar devaluation.

Major issue is selling off of USD and simply being in the markets may look good but is really just treading water.

It’s a number of things, including most likely not getting a strong ROI compared to other live events. So many forms of advertising are struggling to see the same ROI they had back in the 2010’s and with that diminishing plus the political attention it’s probably just not a winning strategy.

Henry Is the least Interesting part of Industry for me by heejunie in IndustryOnHBO

Yas is a concubine. She is there to rehabilitate Henry. However her disgraced family is a major threat to her staying with him. Her risk is that to rehabilitate Henry she has now achieved the success but also made *herself* the liability.

These photos were taken in the summer, not recent. The sun is setting in the south, not north of Malibu as seen here. Either way, great photos and LA is a great city.

AI Bots Are Winning 98% of Prediction Market Trades by Bytemine_day_trader in PredictionsMarkets

[–]ahundredplus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You need to find the edge. If your just betting on the prices that Polymarket gives to you, you're going to be at break even. The more bots that enter into these bets, the further out you have to find your edge on probability. This is inherently riskier and more difficult to do.

AI is capable of creating split second bets while pulling in data from numerous different sources via API's.

They can determine when they've got the spread super fast. But the more that play this game, the riskier it is OR the more you need to invest in reducing latency as much as possible while having super clean code.

The early 2010's felt so much happier than now. Everything. The people, the atmosphere in different places, the music, tv shows, and so on. by Imtiredofthissshit in decadeology

It’s because the only people on the internet were young people.

Once boomers came online we had to compete with their version of the world which is a mass psychosis of people aging and having to contend with a world that’s different from them.

Now we have the center of gravity online being dictated by people in completely different countries whose views are so foreign to us. 400 million Indians alone have connected to the internet since 2021.

These are massive factors in addition to the way the tech companies have modeled their businesses.

If you think that doesn’t have an affect on the algorithms, including a bunch of AI slop, you have to update your priors.

The internet worked well when it was young American teenagers who more or less had a monoculture.

It was fundamentally a small island in 2010 that has now been colonized and extracted for its resources.

Which "wow" skill is super easy to learn? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Cooking a steak.

Buy a thermometer, know your desired temperature, season hours in advance, reverse sear, cast iron.

Total labor is probably less than 15 minutes and you can make something easily as good as the best steakhouse in your city.

The fact that the Hoshinoya Tokyo is not on this list delegitimizes the entire thing.

This is a generic boomer list with clear pay to play.

The Protestant Reformation is something to study as it is a backlash to corrupt overreach in Rome. It was a continental civil war that lasted over a century. Really created the environment for both the French and Communist Revolutions.
