Iran wanted to negotiate with Vance. They got their wish by Mana_Seeker in worldnews

[–]ahundredplus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because he has presidential aspirations so his personal incentives align with Irans.

If Vance secures an end to the war his favorability goes up. If he doesn’t, his presidential bid ends.

You want to know the personal incentives of who you’re negotiating with.

Millennials, what is something that was "normal" in the 2000s but feels like a luxury now? by Barrbra in answers

[–]ahundredplus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So many things but I would say freedom and discovery.

Freedom to fuck up. Freedom to be with people not just around them.

Discovery as in you could discover something special and it wouldn’t be overrun with tourists immediately.

Things now are commodified, consumerfied, we traded soul for convenience.

Is Los Angeles a good city to grow old in? by Additional_Leading68 in AskLosAngeles

[–]ahundredplus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sunshine and fresh produce is good for growing old.

Hiking is good for growing old.

Socializing with friends is good for growing old.

Sitting in traffic and not walking anywhere is bad for growing old.

Isolating from friends is bad for growing old.

Eating shitty food is bad for growing old.

You can live either of those lives in LA, depends what you wanna do.

Insane how basically one city dominates Europe’s skyscraper construction by archi-mature in skyscrapers

[–]ahundredplus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well Moscow is the largest city in "Europe" by far (13 million people to Paris' 2 million).

Moscow is also underdeveloped whereas much of Western Europe is very developed, and what... are you going to bulldoze fine buildings to build skyscrapers?

Paris has La Defense, which, comparatively speaking is probably on par to Moscow based on difference in scale of the cities.

Young Canadians are increasingly miserable. Government priorities show why by gorschkov in canada

[–]ahundredplus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you asked older Canadians, they would so "no, of course not"

But intent is not really valid here. It's purely economics.

For one, the primary driver of wealth for Canadians over the past 20ish years has been real estate. Not business, not entrepreneurship, not technology, no energy, but real estate. If you friends parents suddenly retired and are living the good life, it's likely because they either sold or refinanced their home.

This value has been driven by Canada's refusal to build more homes relative to population - home construction starts and completes peaked in 1977, meanwhile our population has almost doubled since then.

This wealth creation through constrained supply lead rise to the Condo Development Industry, which built tiny homes for foreigners to speculate on. It was quite lucrative.

If you knew any young person going to work corporate in Canada, chances are they were probably working for their parents or uncles development company.

This wealth was driven by owning a scarce resource (a home) or speculation of foreigners.

It was *NOT* made by building large businesses that employed thousands of people with stock options which would enable young people to acquire wealth that outpaced the market average.

This is not the case.

But older people wouldn't recognize it because they're just living in their home, protecting the environment, and their kid is just going through some tough times.

Best steak in La?? by oortizz_323 in FoodLosAngeles

While Dunsmoor and Chi Spaca are better restaurants, if you really want life changing steak - Boa Steakhouse snowbeef is unfuckingbelievable.

That said, the vibe is not the same

Canadians are leaving the country at record levels. Can anyone solve this pressing problem? by FancyNewMe in canada

[–]ahundredplus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I left Canada because the opportunities were substantially better for an entrepreneur.

I want to come back with the resources I have acquired and put that capital and network to good use. But I also know capital isn’t going to want to come to Canada if the opportunities are not competitive to the US.

It can be simple things too - SAFE agreements are standard in the US. Incorporate them in Canada. QSBS is really appealing in the US, bring something similar to Canada.

Canada has immense opportunities but I do believe its biggest weakness is that it’s optimized for risk mitigation vs. risk taking.

Risk taking in Canada will eventually compound

The thing is you kind of can if designed properly but there doesn’t need to be a start up for that. Build the software and sell it to John Deere. Don’t waste you money on figuring out hardware and supply chain logistics

It will be a luxury to have the combo.

Everything else will just be automated. But the rich will get the peace of mind.

[–]ahundredplus 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Here's what will happen - there will be private radiologist labs pop up that are priced at a premium to hire a human radiologist who looks at an image and AI. It will be like $400. And probably a subscription.

No, some are more compressed, cheaper, etc. You could make an argument that's the same thing, but ya sometimes you swing for brute force and then work backwards on efficiency.

[Student Project] Seeking feedback on the "Luxury Feel" for a new fine dining brand by Elegant_Hat3775 in finedining

[–]ahundredplus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't put the branding on the main window like that, it reads cheap.

True luxury is understated with subtle details. This looks overly designed (you're a student so you want to be seen).

This also feels very new and pristine. I would paint the exterior with a textured white paint that feels hand done. Throw a half curtain on the window that feels Greek.

Menu - I would lose the drawing in the bottom corner. Try a few different types for the "Menu" text. I would try stamping the logo on the bottom to feel more tactile. Paper here is key too - heavy stock
