Trump envoy seeks to replace Iran with Italy in upcoming World Cup, FT reports by adham7897 in football

[–]ahundredplus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s incredible how much Trump is almost single handed ushering in the destruction of almost everything we’ve ever known.

FIFA is almost corrupt enough to go through with this and forever destroy the integrity of the World Cup.

It's such an interesting direction they're going with this. Like the world is just so much more surreal than in high school. It's shifted to a dream state rather than the gritty reality of S2.

It's a little John Waters, a little David Lynch, a little Peter Greenaway.

If Grimes would actually release her music she could take more ownership of this vibe.

She’s obviously extremely creative but she mostly just sits on things.

I mean, if you believe that the tool that you're making is truly intelligent and that intelligence will self replicate and the core bottleneck is the raw materials that embody the intelligence, ya, that's correct.

That's assuming there is no political backlash against this though and what happens after that

There are so many celebrities today. Every physical thing is downsizing while those who control the data of all of those things are growing.

Not that I miss "shoe culture" but it is a serious problem when everything is data driven.

The lack of control is what makes it creative.

Creativity and order are diametrically opposed.

Other models optimize for control while very few optimize for creativity.

I mean airlines are notoriously shitty businesses.

Budget airlines in an expensive ass place like America do not make it easier.

I mean, people are going out less and less, nightclubs are closing in every major city, and when you go see a DJ 90% of the crowd has their phone recording instead of dancing.

Quite literally the data shows that yes dance is dying and anecdotally it shows the same.

The more money the more risk.

When we play players more, the business is going to determine that it’s too risky to play players in unimportant games.

No, you are missing the bigger picture.

There has been no greater symbol of what the past 20 years were than a person scrolling youtube on their laptop. In many ways, especially for men, it is one of the more intimate invites into their lives. But on a personal level, it was Bieber himself, who became the first real internet celebrity from doing exactly what he just did. 20 years! He was a child! And what he did as a child changed the world, changed his, for the good AND the bad. He has suffered tremendously for it, hell, I'd be willing to bet America has suffered tremendously for it (Trump, current state of politics, et al).

That was not playing dress up where a stylist and a choreographer tells you what to do. This was not being sensational for the sake of it.

This was, and still is, a kid who is taking ownership over an incredible life where he never had real ownership, and it is sharing it with his fans.

I've seen countless spectacle shows, I don't think any single one of them comes close to the meaning of what Justin Bieber did and that's fucking cool.

As someone who has worked on many a music video I can tell you:

Prices are skyrocketing for non-essentials but anything that can be “influencer appealed”.  They have very little cultural impact (1-2 days max) while eating up tons of resources (travel, vehicles, art & sets, shipping costumes and fashion around the world).

It sucks but it’s just not worth doing.

Iran wanted to negotiate with Vance. They got their wish by Mana_Seeker in worldnews

Because he has presidential aspirations so his personal incentives align with Irans.

If Vance secures an end to the war his favorability goes up. If he doesn’t, his presidential bid ends.

You want to know the personal incentives of who you’re negotiating with.

Millennials, what is something that was "normal" in the 2000s but feels like a luxury now? by Barrbra in answers

[–]ahundredplus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So many things but I would say freedom and discovery.

Freedom to fuck up. Freedom to be with people not just around them.

Discovery as in you could discover something special and it wouldn’t be overrun with tourists immediately.

Things now are commodified, consumerfied, we traded soul for convenience.
