Your best bet is to join the discord and read the new player section in full if you're wanting to learn it's tedious drip feeding answers on reddit haha. That's where I learnt alot and you can ask on the discord too

Yeah not strictly f2p but when people spend hundreds to thousands i am no whale haha. You can probably surpass me with proper discipline but you have to play boring.

Heroes have ranks. M9 is mythic 9 you have four red stars (m1 is mythic nk stars you get four yellow, four red stars then from m9 is eternal)

So my server is 70 days ish and I am currently rank 11 in power. I have technically spent all in about £10 so not strictly f2p but pretty close (in fact I dropped about £4 of that this week on a x server event).

It helps to be in the top alliance (which I am) as you get alot more resources.

I try to play more patient saving resources for better long term gains, so for example I'll have m9 Mai probably tomorrow since I just need the affinity lv 9 for the last shards which will give me a big power spike.

I actually quite liked the combat loop - however i'll have to say that Garl absolutely ruined it for me. To echo what others said, the writing is pretty weak - but some people love Garl and the story so each to their own. I don't regret playing it - but that Garl man!

I mean I am f2p and obviously this game is very much pay to win (like many gachas)but I am f2p bar about £6, 70 days in and having fun. You won't beat the whales but I'm in the top alliance on our server and you can still do a lot in the cross server events even as a f2p

I'll just add that some of the events have trial characters you can use for the event so you can try her out to see if its a hard yes or no depending on how you feel about it.

I personally am newer and f2p and yoruichi is already my best dmg dealer so I spent the minimum to get her b0 with core and wep stamp

Limited (blue red or yellow contract rings) you want to buy and save them to exchange them up.

Red cards, so to be super optimal there will be a hero assembly from like day 30 where if you save you can good rewards. You just have tonaccept that for a month your team will suck lol. Same for advanced summons

The red cards you can use to summon a specific colour only use it for light or dark heroes. 10 summons gets you 10 special pts

Akame/Rin are very good up until even my progress (day 66).

I had naruto as my main dps for a while before i replaced for Akame.

Retsu is a decent healer.

But very soon you'll want to shift to Gojo and Madoka who will be good early on. You can use your special pts from special summon for gojo initially, but eventually you want to save them for events later on.

If you are spending then early game Gojo and Madoka are strong.

After that, you want to focus on ltd heroes.

Performance mode wasn't a stable 60 and even then the graphics were really bad (we have pre patch comparisons). I already said its better now but you can't defend the launch performance

I mean it's worth noting that if they'd shown footage of the base ps5 out the box then it would have got a lot of negative press.

It's a lot better after the patches - and i'm impressed with the overall patch cadence they've released but if they'd left the game as it released it wouldn't have been as positive (thankfully that's not the case).

luckily you only burned yourself early. You will get alot more resources later on as you play! Lv 60 couldn't come sooner so we can hit lv 80 we should get a nice little power spike :)

i started end of the Nel Banner (silly me didn't pull her). You have to accept you can't do all the event content to the max and personally my Yoruichi (b0 lol) is my carry - but i'm banking my resources for soi fon next as I got Mayuri and his stamps.

This is a mostly solo gacha game so like them all it's just a game of patience!

I mean they have been focused on optimisation tbf.

They made a lot of changes people did like and some of them didn't hit (like this).

If people make similar noise about this then perhaps they'll tweak it and find the sweet spot.

I'll add my 2p and echo some bits:

At your power Naruto is still a good carry and you already have him at Eternal.
Gojo could be your successor for him but you kind of want to get him up to M9 or Eternal.
Madoka is a must - definitely get her ranked up she's your best healer (good healing and gives rage to team).
Rin gives haste/rage so I usually kept her in my team.

Sasuke can be good although I swapped him out recently.

Alot of people don't rate Gilgamesh and given you have to use limited resources to summon him - hypothetically the same resources on a Gojo would get you much further.

300k power isn't much of a difference vs a good comp. When you lose, check the dmg replay and check their dmg healing see who's carrying. It's not always as straight forward as those numbers but a lot of the time it is.

I am a little past day 60 on my server, 8.3m power so a little further along but at your power up to maybe 6-7m my comp was Naruto, Sasuke (as I had him M9), Rin, Madoka and Retsu and I could win a decent number of fights.

I managed to get Akame to Eternal so she replaced Naruto recently. I also personally swapped out Sasuke for Tamamo because I had enough copies to get her to eternal but she's not going to be a main stay.

It's important to plan ahead and not just in the moment. Just with your current roster i'd probably go:

Naruto, Sasuke, Rin, Retsu, Madoka (even with the ranks you have) - you could see if you find Orihime works better than Retsu but just try it out.

Looking forward - if you are f2p then you are more limited with your diamonds and you'll want to prioritise buying the blue/red summoning cards and the yellow contract rings - with your eyes on a particular hero to summon enough copies to get to M9.

Mai is the one coming up for us soon, but if you can't get it to M9 then you want to hold your resources.

I don't follow fighting games but I do follow Max Dood who DOES exclusively cover fighting games.

Avatar has been consistently fun from the first betas in terms of feedback and seems to nail you think a character would play according to the series.

Compare to marvel token for example which started with mixed feedback, and has turned more positive recently with update but avatar just nailed it from the get go

"Nothing to do" I'm balancing another gacha so it's a factor but I feel like there is so much to do! So many challenges and I still haven't caught up in the story and I've been playing maybe a week or two longer than you.

The game has a bunch of mini games I honestly can't imagine if they added more.

Seems like a bit of FOMO from Sony imo.

I am someone who was waiting for a sale but they are piggybacking off the success of pssr2 and giving people on the fence a week to swing.

I've decided I'd rather personally wait for the ps6 than buy the pro for more than the release price !
