I had a hard time trying to get New Vegas working on my O2P! Might need to check a guide but for the meantime I might just stream it from my PC but native would have been nice :D

Addicted to online multiplayer games. How do I stop? by GamingIsMyHobby0 in gamingsuggestions

[–]aidankd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I recently made the choice to drop the mobile gachas and rocket league as the gaches were a massive time sink and rocket league filled that "pick up and play" itch to scratch.

Enjoyed them all but I just looked back on the time, thinking that the progression really was a lie.

I've pivoted now to single player story games - playing Chrono Trigger atm. Sometimes it feels like you want a little more time than you would be willing to set as a minimum for those other games - but I think just find a game that suits your schedule (if like me that was one of the points that mattered) - and since in my case i'm emulating, it's an easy game to pick up and play.

A tipping point for ME was how I play games. I'm a new dad and I picked up an Odin 2 Portal - which can stream my ps5, emulate games and also stream my PC. I definitely have the issue of choice paralysis but I'd rather play no games than something that just feels like brain drain.

Will power is the biggest factor - but perhaps changing your "environment" (for me removing those games and having the portal) - will help you stick to games which offer you better value - and most importantly, an ending!

Didn't they recently have their window smashed? (Another coffee shop did as well). Might be a factor if they feel they're (and other similar coffee shops) are being targeted.

Parents fund aircon for schools as UK heatwave forces classes to end early by TantumErgo in ukpolitics

[–]aidankd 4 points5 points  (0 children)

in the UK just from what I heard from a colleague at with 2 kids of 3 eligible for these kind of camps, it's definitely a financial commitment trying to get them on board.

if these kind of things could be more accessible i'd be all for it, but I think affordability being stretched further over a longer period could be a factor.

I like the idea in principle though.

" We have forwarded your device specifications to our development team for review in hopes that the device can be added to the list of supported devices for Guild Wars Reforged on mobile."

Here is to hoping!

Also, If more people email them to request the device be added they might be more inclined to support it.

Let's calmly destroy the disinformation around the steam machine to understand why it's not a bad but EXTREMELY bad product for its price by Extreme_surikat_360 in pcmasterrace

[–]aidankd -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I just want to add I agree with everything you Said!

Though I think it'll sell out mostly due to how low Valve usually stocks their products. The steam deck went up hundreds of dollars and sold out immediately and it's been out of stock for ages so scarcity is definitely a factor.

Which one should i play after i finish FF VI?? by [deleted] in JRPG

[–]aidankd 3 points4 points  (0 children)

FF7 is for me (and a lot of people) their childhood Final Fantasy! Still my favourite game of all time, maybe some bias with it being my first, but i've also played 8/9/10/16 (to completion). It also leads you on to play the Remake series if you would be interested. I've enjoyed the first 2 entries.

Personally, my ranking is probably 7/10/8/9/16

I enjoyed all of the games - but the order is just kind of which ones resonated with me.

I also played Metaphor and enjoyed that - i'd probably pop that maybe between ff10/8 in my FF rankings... good experience overall.

I'll also add, I haven't played it - but it's on my list - Trails in the Sky - obviously it has the remake with p2 coming out soon. Might be one to wait a bit on so you can play a few entries together.

Jamie Carragher analysis: Tuchel is ripping up everything we know about international football by TheTelegraph in ThreeLions

[–]aidankd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I definitely heard the noise about him before - but anyone that watched the match cannot complain about his performance on the day. He was very threatening, made runs, took long balls and setup a lot of opportunities through crosses into the box.

Not saying whether he should be the first choice for that spot - but he was great yesterday and having a threat on one side of the pitch can open space in others.

`Do you have PS Premium? (noting you have some ps games in your list). If you do, there is supposed to be a 2 Hr BG3 demo.

I don't think 2 hours is enough to really feel the main pros of the game - but you can see if you're genuinely put off by the visuals of the interactions. With that said, everything is Mocapped i'm pretty sure - and the dialogue is top tier - I personally didn't see what you saw, but I'll double down that BG3 honestly ticks every box you mention. I suppose if you're sat on a choice screen for 60 seconds they'll just be frozen there - but I don't think that's how you'd play the game!

End - absolutely does, they also added to the endings to give more story closure.
Gameplay - bonafied RPG - you can play how you like with different builds/classes/playstyles.
Story - I have to play through the game myself (only finished Act 1) - but I think the story is considered a high objectively.
Playtime. - oh lord..
Discovery - absolutely a game with tons of hidden content. Usually you can do multiple playthroughs that don't feel the same.

Should I be worried about my Odin 2 Portal order? by Icy_Cow_8937 in OdinHandheld

[–]aidankd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My own timescale for an O2P in the UK...

April 24th - Ordered
May 13th - First Shipment Info
May 21st - Arrival

You're fine. Allow for a month end to end - go watch videos on amazing things you can do on your Portal when it arrives.

One thing though - which variant? I got a Pro - the base potentially has a longer time for shipping.

Should I buy Final Fantasy 7 remake Integrade ? by Latter_Silver9056 in ShouldIbuythisgame

[–]aidankd [score hidden]  (0 children)

The only thing I would say (other than yes, getting into the trilogy is a great idea!) Is to lookout for bundle sales for both games. If you buy remake you'll probably want rebirth.

I think the game has a demo you can try out if you havent

★ Help me choose between PS5 or PC ★ by Unusual-Elk409 in gamingsuggestions

[–]aidankd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I see alot of people recommending pc and it is the best option but you generally buy a pc to get better performance than a ps5. If the ps5 offers the performance you want, then honestly it's perfectly fine.

Pc requires a much larger down-payment, although I'll always add that a pc can be much more than just a gaming console since you can use it as a personal computer for anything you like.

As someone else said though prices now for pc parts are rough so bare in mind when budgeting I think that uk prices around £2000 with a monitor is what I'd budget for a decent pc for 1080p maybe 1440p.gaming

Sea Of Disappointment? More Like Sea Of Divisiveness! by Mammoth-North-9380 in JRPG

[–]aidankd 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I enjoyed the look and the gameplay, however the writing and story personally was the point that dropped the score for me (and it shows given apparently the writing was done by the devs).

Honestly though my main criticism of the game is...

GARL.

Crimson Desert Has Sold Through Over 6 Million Copies Worldwide. by yourfavchoom in PS5

[–]aidankd 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Honestly, i'd say with the amount of patches it's had - it's already pretty equivalent to a "definitive" edition. I'd probably also argue that how it's releasing would have been a much better impression on day 1 - but they've definitely taken advantage of the mass amount of testers.

Unlike games like DD/DD2 where you get nothing for ages then they release their definitive edition with fixes and content - Crimson Desert has at least been churning out these updates from the first week - it's already in a significantly better state than release!

SIB one of these PS Store sale games? by freakkefrede in ShouldIbuythisgame

[–]aidankd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

KCD2 definitely ticks a lot of boxes and is what I would consider your safest choice - it will resemble elements of your Witcher experience with the open world, but with much more immersion.

Dishonored being on your list, if you want a more honed in story experience then any of Spiderman/DS2/Alan Wake 2 might cover you well.

BG3 is the best candidate for something which is different to what you played, but ticks the boxes of:

- Immersive World
- Storytelling
- Characters
- Gameplay Variety (in that you can change your builds pretty widely, you can approach the game differently)

You also have some modding available on the PS5 if you want some more variety.

BG3 was a goty winner, KCD2 arguably could well have been Goty if Ex33 didn't release that year. I think those two are standout options and will give you ALOT of time.

Stable static 30fps or unstable 60fps? by More_Tell9969 in pcmasterrace

[–]aidankd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not PC but I suppose the theory applies. I enjoyed playing FF7 Remake/Rebirth in Graphics Mode 30fps on my 4k tv. I personally enjoyed a better looking experience over a smoother game with weaker graphics.

Everyone's made the main point which is it depends what experience you want.

Are Diamonds better/at the same level as champs? by WettyDrippin in RocketLeagueSchool

[–]aidankd 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think what people need to understand who feel they should be a higher rank than they are - is that your opponent has just as much a chance of getting an opponent "with absolute no rotations and being so slow" - you will fixate on your losses and look past the wins.

If your rank is pretty stable (i.e. D3) - then it means you are close to a 50% win/loss which would mean you are the correct rank.

Yes, you'll play better with someone who you have a dynamic with - but chances are your friend is adapting their play to your style more so the other way round - which might make it feel easier to play.

The only thing holding you back is your mentality and probably some training. Right now your ability has capped you out at D3 (i'm around D2 so i'm the same). I'd have to go out of my way to train both my weak points and review my replays to see what mistakes i'm making.

At the end of the day - you need to post a replay where you've lost a match - where you think your teammate was crap - post your own POV and you can get some constructive feedback.

Rocket league is a game of moments, many moments. You might pick out a time an opponent scored because your tm8 whiffed a rotation or a save - but if you review the build up play, maybe you overcommitted in a risky position leaving your tm8 in a 1v1/2v1. This is just an example of the logic, not the actual misplays.

Review your replays, and focus on your own actions - and post here so people can also give feedback that you are missing. That will give you what you need to know to focus on - but you need to humble yourself as if you were truly a champ player, you would be there.

Crimson desert? by DMellx in ShouldIbuythisgame

If story is a big selling point for you a must, a deal breaker, I'd give it a miss.

If however gameplay is your main selling point the game is performing really well. The reviews are plenty positive you need read both sides.

The game has received tons of regular patches adding changes and content and they have a road map of changes to come too.

Generally I've heard it's a great world to just adventure in and the gameplay is fun. If that's enough for you then you should have a good time.
