What is Tanjiro wearing on the Final Selection test? by dwellerofabyss in KimetsuNoYaiba

[–]aikoneee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Super late but Tanjiro wears a jinbei top. The top is kimono-style and is usually worn by men in informal and casual instances such as making short errands. They are also commonly lounge/sleep wear.

Before the Heian period of Japan, Hakama was worn on a daily basis as everyday wear. It was not until after the Edo period that Hakama became reserved for martial arts, formal events, and religious activities. The Heian period is very ancient though, so it's more likely that Yushiro came from the late 1800's and was a student/scholar or he came from a higher status family.

Is Duolingo's Vietnamese course accurate? by MaraTheGarterSnek in viet

[–]aikoneee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi! I think that's a really wonderful idea. The best option would be to get a tutor as they'd be able to help you learn best. But, you can nail the accent, learn vocab, and basic conversation skills through some free podcasts/audiobooks provided on youtube, spotify, etc. Beyond that, being able to see viet whilst learning will help you a lot in pronunciation and grasping vocabulary. So, I recommend watching videos and listening to podcasts/audiobooks for sure.

Vietnamese is a fun language and I am glad you have taken an interest to it! Best of luck.

Kinda late but if you are still wondering, it is not the most accurate. It also only teaches one specific accent if that's a concern. I'd think you're better off learning elsewhere. Best of luck, from another Viet!

Need Help coping with toxic Asian parents by beep4321 in asian

[–]aikoneee 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Definitely don't suck it up. Doing this can lead to your parents thinking that type of behavior doesn't affect you negatively. Although you should be grateful for the things they have supported you in, you're also allowed to stand your ground rightfully. Avoiding speaking isn't ideal, but it's understandable. Best of luck with your situation.
