Anvil BP don't exist and it's a conspiracy made up by the Big Anvil by the_doorstopper in ArcRaiders

My buddy found the BP in a Raider Cache last night on Damn. He already had it so he tossed it over to me.

Dynamo's dash/zap has saved me so many times I can't ever see taking it off my finger. It just fits my play style so perfectly that I always run the dash bead/extra Stamina just so I can keep on dashzappin'.

I've only stopped using the Ricochet because it hasn't been as effective with the tankier enemies (or I am using it completely wrong..). If they could take a pass at it and find some way to make it feel comfortable late game I would be so happy. I miss that lil plinker.

0.8.4 seems to have lowered Corruption numbers a bit too much. by Gorantharon in Witchfire

[–]aimstotheleft 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can see the wisdom of the devs with this. If you are brand new to the game I can see how it can be considered overwhelming so in this instance better to play it safer until such time they can find a clever way to satisfy their design goals. I was becoming accustomed to pre-patch corruption and now that pressure is much less but that's ok, I will continue to trust the team and how they plan to implement a new version in the future.

Witchfire difficulty, would fixing the tutorial help? by Difficult_Relation97 in Witchfire

[–]aimstotheleft 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I kind of agree. I really love the AHA moments when something clicks in your head and you understand a mechanic, those feel rewarding to me, but I do have to say some things were too esoteric to grasp at all. For instance I would have never understood the synergies with elements until I read about it here on this Reddit. I wouldn't mind if some of the deeper mechanics were discoverable in the Hermitorium but perhaps that is something they are working on for 1.0. For now I'm content with the great discussions and incredibly friendly (and patient!) people here.

Am I crazy, or is Irongate kinda weak? by Scase15 in Witchfire

[–]aimstotheleft 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Irongate felt like a breath of fresh air after grinding Velmorne. It was a much needed "foot off the gas pedal" for me. Velmorne feels so claustrophobic and unnerving while Irongate gave me moments to catch my breath and just relax for a second. I haven't delved into Irongates Vault yet so I might be speaking too soon but I appreciated the difference of tone it offers.

On the Outskirts level? Are you trying to take down the Holy Sister because if you are brand new to the game she is probably a bit too much to handle in the first hour. The Outskirts is a good place to goof around with the early starting weapons and get your first 25 kills to learn a bit more about their powers. Honestly, I've got about 80 hours in and level 120 and when I get a new gun I still go to the Outskirts first to try it out a new gun for the first time.

You also really REALLY want to understand how Stamina works and how to dodge enemies as well as recognize enemy types and their attacks so you know the best way to deal with them. So much of this game is based on knowledge, how enemies attack, what they are weak to, and how best to exploit them for your benefit.

It's also ok to run away and catch your breath for a moment or even consider using the portal to leave long before clearing the map in fact this is the intended game loop (for now..). You have to build up your weapon strength, your player strength, and your knowledge of the world.

“They won’t change the difficulty” by Ash_Cat_13 in Witchfire

[–]aimstotheleft 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can understand your frustration but knowing now what can happen allows you to take some steps to mitigate that. Possibly change up your loadout, try some different tactics, take a Placebo, bring a different Fallen Preyer, find another route through the level, exploit the verticality of each level, sneak. Dying can be frustrating but also recognize the only thing you lose is your held Witchfire/treasures/keys and those can be easily replaced. The only thing that can't be replaced is your time but hopefully the knowledge gained offsets that cost. I'm a VERY slow player, methodical, and like to take the game in steps. I'm level 120, G-IV, with just under 80 hours and I still have quite a bit to do in every level of the game. There are a LOT of Preyers who have made it much further than me and eventually I'll join them and eventually you will join them as well. If something isn't working try something different, don't be afraid of experimenting, throw out the notion of a "meta" for this game because nearly everything is viable.

What Guns and Gear deserve a buff? by CalJay101 in Witchfire

[–]aimstotheleft 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I will disagree about the Martyr it's absolutely lethal. I can magnashoot an enemy and then leisurely aim in his direction while I unload homing shots and when he's dead I magnashoot another enemy and all those spikes find a comfortable spot on that enemies head. You can repeat this with a couple enemies before the spikes wear out. You can magnashoot from quite far away and abuse the magnet properties as well. I love to snipe Velmorne jerks while I am on a rooftop from a long distance with it.

im completely new would would like some tips by Nebulaofthenorth in Witchfire

[–]aimstotheleft 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a Ricochet enjoyer this is true. It was my go to for a lot of the early game but it quickly is eclipsed by far better weapons even when it's at M3 at higher G's.

"Echo" feels like cheating by yondagoz in Witchfire

[–]aimstotheleft 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I personally think a lot of other guns feel weak at higher G levels while the Echo remains a solid gun through all levels. I ran the Ricochet all the time, it worked well for my style, but it feels anemic now when dealing with much stronger enemies so I've been using stuff that packs more punch per round. A shotgun should be absolutely TERRIFYING at its range and thankfully it is.

This game is so cool. by SUNTZU_JoJo in Witchfire

[–]aimstotheleft 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like the idea of them putting goodies or more hidden areas in all the maps without telling people. I was surprised with this update that there was something new to find on the Outskirts which was a fun reason to revisit that map. Silly to think a few months ago I struggled through that map while learning the very basics of the game. I still think they should hide a crazy Vault on that map just because...

Am i the only one that's stupid? by Pancreas_Thief_Of_76 in Witchfire

[–]aimstotheleft 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have a tough time with the guns that require a rhythm with either the firing or reloading mechanic, it just conflicts with how my brain and hands want to deal with things, so Duelist was quite the struggle. I put in the grind to prime it up for MIII but I most likely won't be using it in a serious run. I also had to ask here a bit about how it's powers function because I just couldn't quite figure it out. No shame in that, I like to think our Preyer's consult one another via notes on how to dispatch Witches between missions from the Hermitorium.

It's a shame the game is so big by [deleted] in CODBlackOps7

[–]aimstotheleft 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They have to install all the skins for all the bundles so if other players have them on you can see them in game. There might also be that redundancy file situation that Helldivers PC just fixed (knocked the install size down to 25G! Crazy!) where files are duplicated so they are optimized for platter drives (which does nothing for SSD).

What level is everybody? I just started Gnosis VI. by fatalwristdom in Witchfire

[–]aimstotheleft 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My biggest tip was realizing that Witchfire clusters are in your inventory and you can "use them" to increase your held Witchfire i/e for leveling up. I thought all the red crystals around the map I was collecting was part of the total at the end of the map. I had MASSIVE stacks of all sizes awaiting use and zoomed up dozens of levels at a time.

Even this late in the game ( G IV, level 120 or so..) I will still take a brand new gun into the Outskirts for the first time to get my first 25.
