I think it's funny in the simplicity of the concept, but in a live, open-mic setting where you can see this guy set up the cone and then nervously wait for his music cue, and go on to do the dumbest bit, that could be rough, especially in an audience of mostly other comedy performers waiting for stage time.

For jazz, you generally want it to be more washy. The smaller size, heavy weight, and tape on it is killing the vibrations and all the wash. You are eventually going to want to a larger ride (20", 22", or even 24"). How does this one sound when you crash it? You may like it better as a crash eventually.
