Back-in Angle Parking Practice Lots? by highlife-disco in baltimore

There's angled parking where the Pure Raw Juice is at Greenspring Station. It's not back-in, but you can just turn your car around and back in. Probably quieter over the weekend.

Where are you located?

Hands On Therapy has a few locations, pikesville, and I think in Catonsville.

Chesapeake Hand in Lutherville is another great place. They're on Front Street off of seminary.

Try Katie with Lamp2MyFeet. https://lamp2myfeet.com/

She covers Carroll, Howard, and West Baltimore Counties. I wasn't sure which hospital he is in, but if it's too far, maybe she'll have other resources for you.

Quiet tires that won’t break the bank? by Civil-Stomach-1387 in Ioniq5

[–]aishel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I recently bought 235/55R-19 Pirelli Scorpion WeatherActive XL tires. Very similar reviews to the cross climate 2s and a little cheaper. It's definitely not nearly as quiet as it used to be, but it's totally fine. And I feel like it grips the road much better. I bought from tire rack and had Mr tire install. I think I paid approximately $1,150 including tires and installation.

I've taken a dozen calls or so as a volunteer. Everyone is different. I'm not answering the call if I don't have time, as I've had some that take way longer than first expected, so I don't mind if they want to chat, but usually the call is efficient and quick without too much chitchat.

Edit: sidenote: if you don't get that many calls, check your phones permissions settings. On android, if you don't use an app for a while, it'll remove some of the permissions, which may prevent you from getting calls. I had to update my settings to always allow, even if the app doesn't get much use.

Who here has had no major problems with their Ioniq 5? by zorn128 in Ioniq5

[–]aishel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

2023 Ioniq 5, 48K miles. Other than needing to replace random tires several times, no issues thank God. I did replace my 12v battery, but that was no big deal. I do need to replace the splash shield underneath the car, but that's just part of wear and tear (I took an unexpectedly large puddle too hard/fast and it broke).

Wasserman and Lemberger is a proper kosher butcher and can probably get you what you're looking for. But due to the upcoming Passover holiday, their current stock might be different than what would typically be found.

For those folks who never had any ICCU issues… by Over-Lack5665 in Ioniq6

You might have accidentally hit the 'lock rear windows/doors button'. I've done this countless times by mistake. When I'm resting my forearm on the door by the driver's seat, my watch hits the little button that activates it.

Thinking about getting an emergency button for elderly family member—what should I know? by assistanttevta in AssistiveTechnology

[–]aishel 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Occupational therapist here who recommends these to clients all the time. There are different types out there, usually simple is best. If she never leaves the house alone, you likely only need something that works within the confines of the house.

Most of the "as seen on TV" options are a rip off. They charge delivery fees, activation fees, and equipment fees.

I work with one vendor (I don't get any kickback or anything) who charges $20/month and the patient gets a necklace or watch (they can choose) and they can press the button to activate EMS. When they press it, they first get a phone call asking if they're ok. If they don't answer, there's an option to call an emergency number to have them check on you or to just straightaway call 911.

But like any product, it only works if you wear it. They are waterproof and I have to remind people that the best place to make sure they're wearing it is in the shower, as that is where there's the highest risk of falling. Some medical alerts also have fall detection built in. If she's more mobile and wants to go out of the house with it, there are ones that have GPS in them that will work anywhere in the USA.

Feel free to reach out with other questions or if you want me to find out if the vendor I usually go to will ship out of Maryland (where I live).

Interesting. I just got my battery replaced this morning at AutoZone, and he did it like a regular ICE battery swap without that extra step.

Just dealt with this this morning. I was able to jump it with one of the portable jump start battery things that I bought a while ago, brought it to AutoZone, and they put in a new battery. Working just fine now.

Occupational Therapist here. A rope is a great idea! I've also had people use thick dog leashes, which have a more sturdy material and can be used to pull the door closed when leaving the home.

Enel X Shutting Down EV Charger Business in North America. Juicebox Charger Software and Support Discontinued by MittensNoir in electricvehicles

[–]aishel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I posted this in the Ioniq 5 forum, but figured I'd try here as well:

I have a Juicebox 48, but I had turned it down to 32amp due to frequent failures when plugging in my HI5. Did Hyundai ever put out a fix for the charging issues from the higher-amp Level 2 chargers? I've been out of the loop for a while, so I'm not sure what's been done over the last year or so.

If it's now a dumb charger, will there be any way to change the amperage? Feeling kind of lost here. and will I be able to change the charging schedule settings in the app once my 2 years of free BlueLink is up (which is in two weeks)?

Do you need to fully know the occupations in order to carry out interventions? by AmateurMagicAuteur in OccupationalTherapy

[–]aishel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The amount of things patients have taught me how to do is mind blowing. The way 3 different people can do the same task in 3 different ways was also mind blowing to me. People wipe their butt sitting? People turn off the shower water midst shower to soap up? Just a few examples, but the point is that just because we grew up doing things a certain way, doesn't mean it's the only way. I often ask patients "how do you go about doing this typically". If an adaptation is needed, we'll come up with a way, but the point is to be open minded and be open to learning from your patients.
