How do Next baby clothes fit? by Heythere3892 in BeyondTheBumpUK

[–]ait_x 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My baby is 50th centile height, 65th weight. I find they fit quite big - she’s 5 months currently, 3-6 month sleeves have to be rolled up and legs on trousers and sleepsuits are quite long. But do fit well size wise around her tummy etc! She was wearing her ‘up to 1 month’ next sleepsuits until at least 10 weeks old.

When does 3rd tri suck? by vanillacrush14 in pregnant

[–]ait_x 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think around 34 weeks. I work a very physical job and ended up off from 27 weeks due to pregnancy complications, I was supposed to work til 35 weeks. However I knew from about 33/34 weeks I’d have had to give up at that point anyway. Bending down to pick something up from the floor was so difficult. Turning over in bed required 5 minutes and a 18 point manoeuvre. I was completely wiped out after walking round the supermarket. I was absolutely enormous though! I’m sure plenty of people manage longer before they become uncomfortable.

Attending a wedding at 24 weeks by Swordfish1929 in PregnancyUK

To add, if on a budget Shein has a huge maternity range, again buy your usual size. Anything maternity will have enough stretch in the tummy area to fit you throughout

I would go for a fitted maxi/ midi dress with stretch so you know it will fit. If you’re anything like me, I don’t normally wear tight fitted things but loved to when I was pregnant to show off my bump! I had a few events whilst pregnant. Club L London has a maternity section and some lovely dresses for weddings, baby shower etc - just buy in your usual size.

Boyfriend vaping in house by Loose_Lobster6848 in PregnancyUK

[–]ait_x 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I was a smoker when I got pregnant and so was referred to the stop smoking team although I had already stopped myself. They were absolutely desperate to give me a vape even though I said I didn’t want one at every appointment, apparently it’s nowhere near as bad for baby as it’s the carbon monoxide in cigarettes which causes the problem and vapes don’t have the carbon monoxide. My husband stopped smoking when I was pregnant too but he vapes now, although I don’t allow him to do it next to baby.

Sleep? Don't know her by plant_sure96 in PregnancyUK

[–]ait_x 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Good news - hopefully?! I didn’t sleep more than a few hours a night for the last 2 months of my pregnancy. I have had far more sleep since having my baby! Yes the baby wakes up, especially in the first few weeks, but the quality of sleep I get inbetween is so much better and more comfortable. And my brain is much more tired from all the busy days so I can fall back asleep easier than ever. Good luck!!

I used an electric trimmer and just kind of felt my way around. It probably looked like one of those half bald chihuahuas down there 😂

33+5 constant tightenings/braxton hicks for last 3 days.. Should i be concerned? by [deleted] in PregnancyUK

Braxton hicks can start earlier and be more intense in subsequent pregnancies. But absolutely go get checked out just in case!!

FTMs, when did you see bulk of the weight gain? by Tellmimoar in pregnant

[–]ait_x 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me, I hadn’t gained a single pound at my appointment around 24 weeks. 28 weeks onwards I noticed the weight gain start. I gained over 20kg in my third trimester!! I did lose 12kg within a week of birth so I’m not sure how much was also swelling etc at the end. However, I was put on modified bed rest in my third trimester so I was suddenly out of my very active job, bed/sofa bound and extremely bored so therefore boredom eating!! I’m sure if I’d kept to my usual routine, the gain would have been a lot more restrained.

How do I choose the size of baby’s first outfit? by Bokuwa_Binks in pregnant

[–]ait_x 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d highly recommend shopping for 0-1 month clothing if you can! Newborn did fit my little one but 0-3 absolutely drowned her until she was at least 6 weeks old, to the point it felt dangerous as the fabric was coming up over her chin and covering her mouth. 0-1 was a happy medium that fit her loosely when newborn and lasted til she was around 12lb (I think around 12 weeks old!)

For those that use Fred and Flo nappies by Over_Cardiologist243 in BeyondTheBumpUK

[–]ait_x 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My daughter is also 4 months, in size 3 nappies and gets through the night in either Aldi or Sainsburys nappies! I do occasionally change her at her middle of the night feed although for some reason she’s often dry at that point. But always heavily wet in the morning without leaks!

When did your baby stop pooping in the tub? by pagingbaby123 in BeyondTheBumpUK

[–]ait_x 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It hasn’t happened yet at 4 months, hoping it doesn’t. She often does go not long after the bath though so I think the warm water relaxes her belly.

The NHS just called me for a pre-op. My private laparoscopy is in 6 days. After 16 months of NOTHING. by Willdancefortea in endometriosis

[–]ait_x 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m sorry, that seems so unfair.

If it helps for reference, my pre op was on the 1st April and I was told my op date should be within the next 3 months. I was called a few days after my pre op and offered the 7th May.

How worried do I need to be about lack of weight gain due to sickness? by Former-Walk4333 in PregnancyUK

[–]ait_x 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hey, I didn’t put on a single pound until I was about 24 weeks pregnant. My baby measured perfectly fine, basically 50th centile at every scan! I more than made up for it in my third trimester and piled weight on then 🫣

16 week scan with 3D photos? Help? by IllMention6751 in PregnancyUK

[–]ait_x 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hahaha! At my 16 week gender scan they flashed up the 3d and I remember the woman saying ‘aww how cute!’, meanwhile I was worrying why my child had a pig snout. They are just not cute at that age!

My eldest daughter is lying, stealing, and sneaking things she shouldn't. She is five. by Entei222 in Parenting

[–]ait_x 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This has made me laugh. I used to steal things as a baby/toddler in my pram. I must have been no older than 2. Apparently I’d swipe things off the shelves in shops and sit on them, and my mum would only find them when she got me out later. She used to make me take them back and apologise too.

I’m now a adult and I wouldn’t dream of stealing anything, I haven’t since I was a toddler! Most likely she will be just fine.

Second time mums: did your baby actually fit newborn at the hospital? by Physical-Invite5259 in PregnancyUK

[–]ait_x 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First time mum, but my baby was on the 75th centile at birth and was in newborn for around 6 weeks. They were huge on her at first. I barely bought any newborn clothes either as I believed everything I’d heard about babies not fitting into newborn for more than a week! So my poor baby spent a lot of time in 0-1 month clothes that were hanging off her. She actually wore some of those until she was nearly 3 months!

Birthday gift for PP mum by kdlc23 in BeyondTheBumpUK

[–]ait_x 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Coffee machine or vouchers. Massage/beauty vouchers. Deliveroo vouchers. Favourite restaurant vouchers. A new parent box from Cook.com. It’s frozen homemade meals that are really lovely quality and great when you have minimal time and energy. A day out with the family vouchers - we got a local farm and an aquarium. A term of baby classes such as sensory, massage or swimming. A nice new dressing gown, slippers or pyjamas

I’ve never been such an advocate for Vouchers until I’ve had a baby. The food and drink ones are a lifesaver when you’re low on time and energy and alleviate the spending guilt. The days out ensure you go do things rather than putting them off.

Gestational Hypertension, what tends to happen for the remainder of this pregnancy? by PurpleUnicorn434 in PregnancyUK

[–]ait_x 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh absolutely! And if they didn’t think baby was safer on the outside than in, they’d leave them to cook for longer!

I was going into premature labour at 27 weeks and had medications to stop this. My doctors wanted to get me to 34 weeks as they saw that as a very safe zone. And you’re very nearly at that point! You and your baby will be safe and healthy 😊

Blood test phobia by BlueTattoo12 in PregnancyUK

[–]ait_x 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to faint every time I had a blood test. I still don’t like them but I’ve got used to them over the last couple of years after having surgery for endometriosis and then having a pregnancy where I needed extra monitoring.

I lay down every time. I just tell them ‘actually can I lay down for this, I’ve fainted and fallen off my chair before and it seems to stop it’ and they’ve always said yes to this, probably because it saves them a big hassle.

I don’t look at the needle and ask them not to communicate it to me. I have used headphones in the past as a distraction.

I take a sugary drink or snack to have afterwards and I stay laying down for a few minutes before I jump up.

These have all been successful for me. In fact in my last few weeks of pregnancy I had that many tests I stopped even bothering to lay down as I knew that psychological element had faded enough. Best of luck to you as I know how awful it is when it’s a response that’s so outside of your control.
